@BirdTyrant you sir have missunderstood a big part of this. The milk itself helps the body boost the calsium building, because of the milk protein actully. But Soda inn other hand, thats damaging for you skeleton, and sugar free soda is even worse.

I’m Cuban American. I’ve heard these stories all my life. The crazy thing about Castro’s ice cream obsession is that Coppelia, his personal ice cream complex, was so large and so well equipped that it actually went on to become the Cuban version of Blue Bell or Haagen-Dazs. It is the national brand of ice cream over there. So large and so popular that many Cuban immigrants who moved to Miami have opened up ice cream stores with Coppelia in the name. You’ll see them from time to time. That is absolutely bonkers.

I can eat 18 scoops 1 hour after a meal. It didn't feel great and I was burping peanut butter flavor for the next 12 hours. Also spent a solid 30mins fighting the urge to purge my insides so do it at your own risk

In other news, I ate about 5 plates full of Thanksgiving leftovers. I then ate a hamburger that my brother couldn't eat. After that, came the ice cream. The challenge is 18 scoops max? I ate 1.5 gallons of ice cream. Best break to a fast ever (5 days). I ate the feast over the course of an hour. I harnessed the power of *chonky* to become an eating machine. Don't harness the power of *chonky* to eat bad food. Almost as bad as eating 8 sticks of raw butter.

Junior year of high school I had a history teacher who was pretty great. We actually covered allot of this in class so he could explain why the CIA tried to poison his milkshake.

So I can confirm his obsession, part of my family came from Cuba and one story I was told went like this: they’d be in class and at the end they’d tell the students to pray to god for ice cream, they would and nothing would happen. Then they’d tell the students to pray to Fidel Castro for ice cream and they’d wheel in a cart of ice cream. Not only was he obsessed with dairy he used it to manipulate children.

hey Terry, this is a thought of mine, but knowing that Castro was Argentinian, and the great acceptance that products with milk have here, I find his obsession slightly reasonable. Here, we have ice cream shops, called Heladerías. They aren't one block sized, but we have a lot of them around and they are super duper common here. Although, in the 50s / 60s the ice cream wasn't that popular here. However, the story is awesome.

My grandparents, on dad's side, are from Cuba, grandpa had a several hundred acre ranch with beef cattle, grandma had a dairy farm, Castro took it all.
I actually lived near Coppelia. My family and I would often go there. But people's favorite thing about it isn't ice cream, it's the bulldozer that's stuck on the giant cement wall 😂

Yet there was still a big hole between buildings (with the bulldozer at the center, since they used it to make the hole) and they just built a wall around it.

I just watched this wtf
I thought I would fall pretty high on the dairy lovers scale, but then the 18 scoops or 2 pints dessert fact came up and I mentally quoted the "that's insultingly low" meme from the office. Maybe I couldn't keep it up every night forever, but when trying my hardest I can at least finish a full tub for like dessert on my birthday or something. And on the occasions I have gone that far, I'm usually not entirely full and could still have more. I don't just do it with ice cream either. I tear through cheese bricks and cream cheese containers very fast. What can I say? I'm a 2nd generation Dutch-Canadian(my pakè or grandpa grew up in Holland and moved at some point). Dairy love just runs deep in that side of my family.
