I think I need to add a little context to the "mother jokes". In Chinese culture, "your mom" is not a joke or tease, but a serious profanity, along with "his/her mom" and "f*** your mom". Especially when it's put in writing, plainly and explicitly, it's a heavy curse word that civilized people don't use unless you really mean it. I guess we can see from the poems how unhinged this guy was.
I'm Chinese and usually a very non-physical person. My boss (who was also Chinese) once muttered "Fuck your mom" to me at work and I felt this primal rage wash over me and I almost punched him in the face after giving him the verbal thrashing of a lifetime. I wonder if offense toward "your mom" profanities is engrained deeply in Chinese DNA lol Edit: From what I've seen I'm not the only one who has such a strong reaction to that profanity cause I've seen other Chinese people go absolutely ballistic when they hear it
I just want everyone to remember that Zhang was 6'6" despite famine in his youth. There is a timeline where he had plenty of food in his youth and became like 7'6" to 8'. Guy was already as tall as a god in East Asian standards. He could have been as tall as the tallest basketballers on top of that. Also, basest means "of low social class". Time wasn't ahead of their time with the term "based".
That last point is kind of important. I'm not saying The Times is above hailing a brutal murderer as having the correct philosophy, but they didn't in this case.
@@HitTheFloor16 hey man, basest is a very unknown word, first time I heard I thought people were saying "Bassist". Also it's really not a common word, unless you live with eton graduates maybe.

Zhang was truly ahead of his time, as all the best poets are. Why are these masterpieces not being read in schools? Also, at this rate, we can expect the Sam's next video to release in june or July of next year. I can't wait.
One (kinda) wholesome story I heard about this guy; he was going have have one of his officers executed for boinking one of his concubines. But then they both said that they were actually in love and not just horny, so he not only let them go but actually got them married free of charge
It's funny, I was actually recommending Sam O'Nella to a friend, sending him the unluckiest ship video, and it showed Sam had posted 5 hours ago. Just want to share a bit more info from Chinese sources about Zhang’s poem. A interview with one of Zhang’s daughter has she claim that Zhang hated writing and never did wrote those poem. Have another sourced study that pin point most of Zhang’s poem to poems either from earlier Qing dynasty joke books, or from sources written from 1960s. So whilst the poems are definately the coolest aspect of the story, it is likely that they are just tales to embellish Zhang’s story added in by writers later on.
Minor correction, at 4:20 Sam makes the common mistake of referring to positive punishment as negative reinforcement. In the context of operant conditioning schedules, "reinforcement" is anything that makes the target behavior more likely to recur whereas "punishment" is anything that makes it less likely to recur. "Positive" and "negative" in this context refer to whether something is done by adding a stimulus or taking it away. To use his diagram, the addition of a pleasant sensation like back scratching or an unpleasant sensation like a whip will make the shirtless gentlemen more likely to cut deals for each other and the tiger less likely to refuse to jump through the flaming hoop.
My first thought when i saw Sam had released a new video was that i really wanted to see you react to it. But sadly you hadnt yet.. and "finally, after hours and hours of waiting" ;) here it is.
