- I really wasn't sure what to expect with this off brand stereo, but I gotta admit I'm impressed! A few days after installing the head unit my backup camera started going in and out while using the headlights at night. I contacted customer service and they promptly responded and said it's a common issue with german vehicles and the backup light signal that uses a canbus system. They recommended a 19$ harness that fixes the issue and I have one on the way! Once I again I have no affiliation with this company, but I have to give them credit as their customer service is really good. Continue to follow the channel for future updates on the install!

I found you not too long ago, watched your Tahoe videos and didn’t realize you had trans am videos... watched all them since I had a 98 and 02 when I was a teenager. Really awesome watching your videos and I’m stoked to start up the camaro videos. Been saving those for later on. Awesome shop, my brother would be so jealous!
Love the Astra! I have only seen one other Opel-badged car in the US outside of a show since my last Opel went away. That was 1993 or so.
I also love the LS into gen 3. That is the engine that body always deserved.

Wow, thanks for the heads up Matt, that's a pretty nice head unit & I'm glad it's working out well for you 😎 . I recently upgraded the factory cassette deck with built-in 6 disc CD changer that was the premium stereo of the time in my 06' Hyundai Tucson SUV to a really nice Pioneer 200bth dvd touch screen reciever. Since I also have the factory amps I'm upgrading the stock speakers to 300 watt Kenwood recommended by Crutchfield.
The head unit looks really good. Actually a decent Chinese company that seems to make quality products. Love the shop update, it looks great

I really love the indication of the radio, I will look into buying one, even with me residing in another country it's very difficult to find one that match the interior of the car, I hope it came working ok, keep the good work on the videos, I really appreciate your work on the cars man

They make these for pretty much any vehicle, assuming they can fit.

Hey Matt you should check out a product called "cosmoline rp-342" for the astra. Its a wax based undercoating that does not wash off period. It doesn't trap moisture and rot metal from the inside out like rubber and doesn't wash off like oil. Its a translucent coating and has a clear/amber finish but isn't gooey or messy. Speaking from experience it is great stuff, I've been running it on my crown vic that I brought up to michigan from Tennessee. I drive it year round and there is not a spot of new rust. Try looking up some videos and reviews, that astra will last forever with that stuff. Not to mention, you won't have to deal with rusty bolts 5 to 10 years down the line. Cheers.
Matt, great video on the head unit and the shop tour. Don't know if you knew this but on ebay you could have got a reverse camera that is built into one of the rear licence lights. Keep up the good work...
Matt I have a similar radio in my firebird. I installed a USB hub where the old speed buffer box was and have more usb than my new CRV lol. The best thing is get either a bluetooth or usb obd2 adapter and torque app, gives you full scan tools and also live data. Also records dash cam to the radio. One thing I don't like about mine is no physical buttons. You can also get tire monitor system that will work with it.

After a few days of driving the Astra, you'll be itching for an android unit in the Tahoe too.I've had a generic double din Android DVD unit in my 97 expedition since 2016 and it's pretty much got the exact same setup with a little Engrish here and there. But for $130, it's been a fantastic investment. Now if only someone made one for my E38 BMW...

As for the Lamp light, its probably from using the reverse wire for camera power. Sends more load to the sensor and trips that warning.

So always hook up gps even if using CarPlay or android auto it will help phone with gps. also another thing the gps can be under the dash just not behind metal it does not need a line of sight just some advice for anyone 👍🏼😊

A bit all over the place but cool info, , it needs a tilt up function for the screen. I think the reversing camera is not good to fussy to setup and I have a German car, otherwise nice unit if a bit too pricey. Thanks

Hello. I just came across your video about aftermarket radio installs and I have a question. I don't know if you still have the car so I don't know if you can answer. But i you can, do you know if you can go into the "hidden menus (fx. engine temperature)" with the aftermarket radio? I have an Astra Twintop and I often use the engine temperature, where you use the "settings" and "bc" buttons to see it. Do you know if you can access the "hidden menus" with the aftermarket radio?

On Hyundai’s and Kia’s with a touchscreen headunit they are actually running Android, so there are a few ways to get to the backend and install any APK

How is the Sony in the Tahoe holding up?
Bought the newer one, but noticed I can’t see the screen with polarized sunglasses because of how they built the screen. (Can see fine with my head at a 90 degree angle lol)
Do you have the same issue with either this or the Sony?

So I have a 2014 Kia optima with the Navigation Factory head unit the climate controls are tied into it Like there’s buttons for it on my dash but when I change the temperature it comes up on the screen is there anyway I can replace the head unit and get Apple CarPlay but still keep my climate control

You don't need Google play to update UA-cam. Just look up UA-cam apkmirror and download the latest version, NOT beta, without the bundle, and install it through file browser.

IMO it's better to upgrade to a stock radio like the CDC 40 Opera and add a UWA module. That is a lot more work than this though, but I reckon it feels a lot more natural in the car than this big-ass screen coming out of nowhere. Minus is that it doesn't support AUX, so maybe a DVD100? Then again, the DVD 100 doesn't get map updates anymore so going stock is a dead end in these cars, quite sad as I find the stock stereos really nice.

I came across it on ebay. It was just the cover and it reused my airbag.
I think It would have been better if you moved the board computer down where the current radio is, and installed a touch screen up top. Those are expensive though. The only reason I don't buy one myself... heh

I will admit, I did not watch the video all the way through. But were you able to get the Opel logo to pop up on startup?
It came up once on the first boot up but not again. It turns on really quickly even after powering it down so I have no idea how to get it back up.

LOL! Jailbroken. No such thing in the Android community. It's called Rooting. But this head unit isn't going to be Rooted. And as far as functionality, Android is capable out of the box to do way more then any iJunk.
