    90% of the time on these 3rd gen escalades, the problem is in fact the connector for the module (not enough ground). The updated harness that LSX Matt bought will fix this issue. They come with an extra two wires. One for another power and one for *another ground.* You can leave out the extra power wire but you MUST use the extra ground wire otherwise you will face this issue again down the road. You can tie 2nd ground wire into the original ground wire. The CCSM is setup to take advantage of this.
    If you replaced the connector and verified there are no more shorts, loose wires, etc, the Thermoelectric Device (TED) may have gone bad. Or a worn out cushion could be causing them not to be seated correctly and therefore overheating. These Escalades do not use heated seats pads, but rather a TED for both the cooled and heated seats. One in the back cushion and one under the bottom cushion.
    Just some info for anyone else that stumbles across this video trying to diagnose their heated seats.
    I had to repair this on my '07

    I’m not confident when it comes to electrical repairs, but videos like these help so much bc of how well you go over it in detail. Love the auction Escalade and Tahiti content

    Very nice. Being able to fix something, rather than just throwing new parts at stuff is becoming a lost art. Good job Matt.

    Hi Matt I have an 08 as well bought used. Didn't have cruise control at time of purchase replacing the brake switch fixed it. I actually did the heated passenger seat a few months ago as well.

  • @reddragon6613
    @reddragon6613 3 місяці тому +2

    The no cruise control is directly related to the brake switch code, after replacing that switch the cruise worked great. The vehicle was a 08' Silverado

      Exactly the same for me. The vehicle was a 2011 Escalade.

    When you said “this truck has kind of a stench to it” I knew exactly what you were talking about. Gmt900 has a certain stench to it that other trucks don’t. And it’s not the most pleasant.
    Also it’s the brake switch 99% of the time. Sometimes you can disable cruise, step on the brake a few times and pull up on the pedal with ur foot and it’ll work for a little while.

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  3 місяці тому

      Cool I’ll have to grab a brake switch. The stench seems like BO but I think its the leather.

    A good little trick for those wires that you aren’t using is to just bend the wire over and put heat shrink around it. 🤙🏽

    I had a similar problem with cruise on my 08 Escalade, I solved it replacing the brake switch. I had about a 50/50 success rate getting cruise to work by putting my foot under the brake pedal and pulling it up to relieve pressure on the switch.

    My A/C wasn’t working when I bought mine. I recharged myself and has been working fine since. Replaced the MAG shocks, little pricey, but easy fix. Recently did front pad and rotors, much easier than I expected. My Cruise Control doesn’t work either, looking forward to that video.

    The leaking power steering rack that you said is new is probably the stupid little seals from the power steering lines that go into rack they fail every time and you just kinda have to get lucky for them to seal correctly

    After tinning yhe pin i just plugged the old connector back in and it worked. That was 3 years ago. I haven't addressed the cruise control yet. My mirrors won't power fold and I bought some shit to fix those and the lumbar.

    Definitely needs a new brake switch for the cruise to work. Cruise cancel is the 1st position of those switches, and they have plastic guts that wear out.

    I drive both GMT800 and GMT900. The build and component quality is considerably better on the older ones. When I go from the 2004 Tahoe to the 2010 Tahoe there are noticeable differences in the two. Of course I really like my 2004 Tahoe LT better in so many little ways. What parts of the newer ones are better on the newer one I would see if it would improve my 2004, like the parking brake system is much better on the newer one and it looks like it would swap over to the 2004 model. I haven't tried it yet and am looking at what it would take. The system on the older ones is not even adequate and nobody else has done it on UA-cam that I could find.

    Make sure to check the electrical connection where the seat connects to the floor wiring harness. Another place it can melt and burn the pin.

    You added solder to thicken the pin, without scraping off the black soot from the arcing? A simple piece if fine grit sandpaper before adding the solder would have greatly increased the conductivity. Now it fits tight but has a high resistance so it is going to overheat again.

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  3 місяці тому +1

      Thats not soot it was discolored from the heat. I hit it with contact cleaner and some emery cloth but it wouldn’t come off.

I rebuilt the motor myself and even uses summit forged high compression pistons to avoid the same fait as the stock pistons and have been driving the past year/ 20k miles trouble free and absolutely loving mine.
