  • Three Mormons open up about their own weaknesses and short comings. Do our weaknesses define us or limit our potential?
Check out Justin, Kwaku and Mimi, stars of the hit new UA-cam show “3 Mormons” discuss Mormon weaknesses and share opinions and insight on what it mormons struggle with in today’s world!
Is it true that Latter Day Saints struggle with being perfectionists? What kind of pressure does your divine potential really put on you? Each of our three hosts has a different take on weakness and how it affects their lives.
Justin has struggled with being a self starter in the past. For example, he mentioned that he was very good at sports growing up, but stopped exercising as soon as he no longer had a coach that was telling him what to do. Old habits die hard and this has been a reoccurring struggle in his life.
Mimi reminds us that we should never compare our weaknesses with other people’s strengths. She referenced an example given at the LDS General Conference titled “Spiritual Eclipse” In this talk, Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve apostles, in order to portray how unrealistic social media can be, shows a picture of some well backed muffins in a beautiful table. The picture then zoomed out to show a messy table, a crying child, and a normal looking home. To her detriment, Mimi has personally struggled with comparing her worst with the best of her friend’s social media experience.
Lastly, Kwaku shares a story of his “Friend” who felt guilty for kissing too many girls. While he was not doing anything wrong, he felt that he was not doing it for the right reasons and still felt bad about it.
Are weaknesses necessary for this life? The group explains that working through our weaknesses brings us closer to christ, while overindulging and giving in to our weaknesses leads to sin and furthering themselves form Christ.
What are your personal weaknesses? Do you feel like they get in the way of your personal progression? Do you have any weaknesses that are similar to theirs? Comment below and tell us your thoughts!

You are in good company because the Apostle Paul struggled with that as well. He never said he caved into the weakness but he did say it was a massive struggle. Not sure what the thorn was in his side but GOD told him that his Grace was sufficient.

My problem is being impatient with God’s timing. He answers my prayers, but makes me wait JUST a bit longer than I expect. My favorite talk from October 2017 was about this topic. (“Devine Design,” by Elder Ronald A. Rasband.)

I think my biggest weakness is fearing the unknown and lacking faith. But I just try my best everyday. :D

I love all of you! You make me smile and strengthen my testimony at the same time! Thank you for giving hope to all that we are imperfect and we just need to work on them, not overthink and accentuate the positive! I am sharing this with my 21-year-old!

I struggle with making the right decision. As a member, I have not been real active and I'm afraid that I can't do things on my own. I want to build my faith, each day seems to be more challenging. At times I feel empty

Thalid98 Hey we all feel that way at times. Sometimes God lets us fall low, so he can lift us higher. Start with scriptures, prayer, and church! Show your faith with your work, and god will send the spirit to comfort your heart :)

Kwaku El thank you. I needed that encouragement. I feel like I hit the lowest spot in my life and I appreciate your positive message. Each day as I wake up and before going to bed, I cry uncontrollably for 30 to 45 minutes.

Thalid98 Elder Holland counseled us to get a priesthood blessing and a counselor! Use the glorious tools god gave us! As someone who’s been in the lowest of lows in my life, I know that God will lift us out! And I know that he will lift you out :)

Also, be really patient with yourself. Like Kwaku said, start with the small simple things. God loves you, I know it. And as your reach out to him, you’ll feel his light. It takes some work though. But you can do it!

To answer the question of what we struggle with, I would respond with this: As we are ALL: human, and are mortal, we struggle with everything everyone else has to deal with. Regardless of what you believe (or do not believe}, we are ALL mortals and have the same challenges in life. So, what do you struggle with? Would it surprise you if I said I struggled with the same issue?

Latter-day Saints are TERRIBLE at understanding the concept of grace. Missionaries (I served a mission 20 years ago) are full of love and compassion towards the people they are teaching. If someone asked me, "I struggle with [fill in the blank], does God still love me?" My response would always be something like, "Of course he does! He knows you're imperfect and he wants to help you get better." But how often do members take their own advice? Not very often. Too many people slip up (in both big and small ways) and allow shame and guilt to crush them into a pancake.

Something that is not mentioned is to receive God's righteousness, and for that to happen you must know Him, you must believe in Jesus and His grace. First, you must know the true Jesus, not an exalted man God, it is important that you have the correct spirit that you are centering yourself with. Do you know God's word, God's word reveals to man those things that he can never discover by his own intellect, no temple, or priest can give that to you. Also, you must trust in Him to receive His righteousness, when you receive His righteousness you no longer will make so many mistakes, because you are living in God's spirit, the Holy Spirit. John 14:20 In that day, you shall know that I am in my Father and you are in me, and I in you. This does not happen unless you believe in the true God.
