  • In his prime ‘Iron Mike‘ was nothing short of absolutely terrifying. His dark aura and fearsome punching power made him into one of the most destructive forces in boxing history. The Brooklyn native rose through the ranks at an alarming rate. He eliminated every opponent in his path en route to becoming the youngest heavyweight world champion of all time at just 21 years of age...

The thing about Tyson was that he wasn't "the best" at any one thing. He wasn't the fastest, the best technician or the hardest puncher.
But he was the very, very good at everything needed. No real weaknesses. His aggression put him over the top.

The only thing that all four of the fighters I mentioned had as good as Tyson was work ethic. All trained hard to get to where they once were. Tyson in his prime was the best peekaboo style fighter that boxing had ever seen... Bar none. Ali had speed but took way too many hits. Foreman and Holmes had power and were tough but no speed to catch a prime Tyson. Frazier was a power and highly skilled boxer but would not be able to keep up to prime Tyson's speed aggression and crafty foot work.
