Most boxers of this era where watching Mike's fights from up close, live in the arena. They must have seen something terrifying in Tyson because they did not dare to look him straight in the eye when they were finally in the ring with him. I think most boxers challenged mike because of their ego, thinking they were better than a teenager... Some of those boxers changed their mind when they stood in front of tyson moments before the bell. Primal fear reminded them of what they saw in the arena. Other boxers where to egoistic, naïve and really believed they where the best. Still afraid but to proud to admit it. Mike in his prime was unstoppable. I love the "mean look" stare downs his opponents gave him, only to change that look when hammered to the floor.
They tried to look like they weren't intimidated by Tyson. But in their minds they had already lost the fight.
