    Love your videos Luke ❤ call me sad but I watch every plumbing video channel on UA-cam 😮 and you are the only one I see actually makes sure the fittings are all the way in before you commence soldering. I cringe watching some videos, especially having two ceilings come down in my previous new build property's due to shoddy workmanship where the plumbing fittings were not made correctly, keep up the excellent content 👌

    Hello mate the standard of your work is absolutely spot on. Most nowadays would've just bashed the pump in the easiest spot to pipe and had JG or Hep flapping and flying about everywhere. Love seeing it still getting done right with copper, bent up and soldered. Pipework looked very tidy, the offset is neat AF 👌Lucky white heather with that bit ending up leaking like a sparge pipe but good job you were still there to catch it, could've been a lot worse. Really enjoying the videos all the best mate

      @@bluebulldog_uk theres a quick hack on those ball valves that i use to get out of trouble. If the top snaps, open the front where the washer is and cut off the little lug. You can then turn the valve around so that it fills from the bottom👍🏼👊🏼….if that makes sense 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Little tip I do when filling the tank up as you were doing is disconnect the ballvalve and turn on the service valve . It will fill the tank double quick then when it's close enough to the top refit the ballvalve . Saves waiting ages for it to fill normally.
    When it wouldn't initially start the shower I mean, take the handset off and lower it into the tray , you'll find the shower will start quicker.
    I tend to fit the lever valve on the hotvtake off quite close to the Surrey flange sonic there was an issue it's easier to get to in the event of a leak. As opposed to fitting the shower pump 1st .
    As always fella great job 👍
    I did feel for you when that water was pissing through the ceiling I'm surprised it hadn't leaked before now based on the bit you showed on the vid.
    You've now had flood fire all that's left is pestilence 🐀 🐀 🐀 🐀 🐁 🪤 😮😮😮😂😂

      Thanks mate, should of filmed it but I wiped the hose off bottom of shower and it gurgled and went…fair point about the isolate valve think in my head I was trying to keep it out the way instead on top would of been bit more practical.
      I have no idea why that pipe decided that night was the night to go, just glad it happened while I was there!
      And yeah I’m dreading what’s next up for me 😂👍

  • @edthelasttribe9580
    @edthelasttribe9580 6 місяців тому +2

    I can see what happened to previous pump install , water doesn’t fill fast enough in a tank , it burn the pump out , if I was you, you should got a regenerative pump - does both negative and positive pressure , and left that install inside the loft, less noise to begin with, and just change the hot water side of run with a S-Flange and installed two AAV valves after the pump flow run branching off upstream with lever valves if AAV needs to be replaced , which helps you to reduce the air buildup completely and prolongs the pump life and pipe work life less pinholes- lots of oxygenation weakens the pipe work in a longer run , that’s the way should be installed from a first place .

    Nice tidy work and thorough.. it’s quite possible the shower worked ok until the ball valve blocked and the water level dropped low enough to airlock at the pump in the attic, although not great install to put pump in the attic like that.
    The copper looks great but personally I prefer QualPex barrier pipe, I think it’s cleaner and no need to get flux in with the water. But copper is sturdy and looks great!
    I’d love to know how much you priced this job as it would help me know what I should be charging for jobs like this, especially when you have to replace the ball valve. Not sure if you could pm me that info but it would be much appreciated 🙏🏻

    Its a great video, thanks for posting it. I'm new to plumbing so please excuse my ignorance, got a few questions; (1) was there a reason you didnt replace the pump in the position the existing pump was in ? (2) was it because of the stronger pressure of the new pump that caused the existing old pipe to leak ? (3) Was that an air vent that you put on the top of the water tank ? If so, should this be done every time a water pump is fitted ? Thanks again.

    • @bluebulldog_uk
      @bluebulldog_uk  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi mate, prefer them out the loft if they leak can be nightmare plus the head of water and it’s called a S flange in top of cylinder stops the pump dragging in air, always fit one with shower pump, other ways you can do it but I fit these, some cylinders may have dedicated supply from side for showers if your lucky 👍

    Assuming the old pump was working normally till it had a fault or a blockage why didn't you just replace the old pump with the new one in the loft? I agree that ideally they have a better head by fitting by the cylinder but a good pump will work with a very low head as long as the supply to it is 22mm. I always use push fit in a loft as its safer than using a blow lamp.!

    • @bluebulldog_uk
      @bluebulldog_uk  6 місяців тому

      Better option by the cylinder, seen them leak and bring down ceilings, supply yeah 22mm better 100% but think the faulty ball valve not deliver long enough water in first place might have cause this one to run dry so hopefully with how it’s set up now it should all be sound

    You should charge extra for that additional luxurious ceiling shower.
    I wonder if your fine and renewed plumbing predecessor ever hear of cleaning the joints after soldering. Looks like that even if he did, not many F were given.
    After a couple of close calls I started wearing safety glasses just in case. And there were a few of those. Without black-eyes fortunately.
    It has nothing to do with bad-luck. You just did the job perfectly and that shitty plumbing failed. For those pipes it was probably the first time in their miserable pipe-life that they finally saw some decent pressure.

    • @bluebulldog_uk
      @bluebulldog_uk  6 місяців тому +1

      The rainfall effect should of been extra 😂 yeah one of my mates said was you wearing glasses would of saved me a black eye on that job, the pump hadn’t worked for a while so guessing the new pressure popped it so just unlucky looking at that job, all sorted so that’s main thing 👍
