I have been using the Fitbit Versa 3 for a little over one month now and I wanted to do a review of the features I love and some of the frustrations I have with the Versa 3.
The Versa 3 adds a few new features this year like a built-in GPS, Google Assistant, SpO2 sensor, always-on display, and more. However, the lack of a physical button and a sluggish UI leaves a bit to be desired.
Still, I really like the Fitbit Versa 3 after using it for the past month. I think it is a great combination of an activity tracker and a basic smartwatch.

For those complaining about the "button issue"... for me the button works flawlessly...though, at first I was seeing the issue... but I have found that even though it isn't a button that moves in and out, you STILL have to apply pressure to the button. Since I figured that out, I haven't had a single issue with the button... give it a light press as if it was an actual moving button. Hope that helps those experiencing that particular issue.

I think its one of those things where you have to get used to using it for it to work to the best of its ability. And you have to get used to the way it works
I agree. I just got mine and at first I thought it might be a real button. You do have to apply pressure then it works almost 100% for me.
My button works fine. in fact, my entire watch works very well.

Well structured review and great explanation of the performance. Thank you! I do like Fitbits easy to follow displays and app layout. However, I have been disappointed one to many times (4) and now choose other smart watches.

Excellent and thorough review. As a Versa 2 user (on Android), the only real feature I miss is the ability to answer calls. I hate touch buttons and would probably skip over this one and wait to see what the Google acquisition does for Versa 4.
Thanks for a great video- I ordered the Versa 2 because the website’s side by side comparison only listed the GPS as a + on the Versa 3. I had no idea about the speaker not being on the Versa 2. Mine arrives in 3 days and it will immediately get returned for the Versa 3

You are so right about the fitbit app. The Apple health/activity apps are so confusing for me. My next like is the Samsung app. But the fitbit app is my favorite.

Thanks for this, I was particularly interested in the in the built in GPS facility of tracking where you are actually running to as this always interests me and I dislike running with a phone to carry with me, I also like large fonts so its easy to read whilst running.

I absolutely agree that touch sensitive button can be annoying, I tested the versa 3 for a few days and returned. Personally, I'm waiting for a charge 5

Great video, I found it very insightful. I am having trouble deciding if the Versa 3 is right for me since I have an iPhone and also use Spotify. The main reasons I am leaning towards it are lower price and better battery life. It's a shame that the UI is not great and that the haptic button is finicky, but you make some solid points about its capabilities as a fitness watch that I quite liked. I usually carry my phone with me, so I feel like some of the other drawbacks wouldn't make much of a difference. Great to know that you are now able to take calls from the watch with an iPhone though.
Couple additional questions: you mentioned the apps being limited, would I be able to receive notifications from Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? Also, I am wondering if Pandora and Deezer are subscription based services? Thanks!
Glad it helped! Yes, you can receive notifications from those but you’d have to view the app on your phone. Yes, Pandora and deezer are subscription based

I don’t like how circular it looks, in comparison to the Versa 2.. which is loveeeee...
And also I hate the fact they to the button off, the two does have some nice features but I wish they would’ve did it all on the same look and design of the Fitbit 2

Yes it does however it only works during your sleep(there are some selected watch faces ) .
Unlike other smartwatches where u can chk sp02 anytime .
@@ashishkandpal7107 with the Last update on versa 3 and sense un can check ur spo2 from the health metrics on the fitbit app or in the section "today" Directly in your wrist without using a dedicated watchface... But only spo2 during your sleep, it's still not able to take Your spo2 on demand

I haven’t tested the Samsung yet. But, I do really like the Versa 3
I bought an active 2 with a xioami phone and had to send it back because it doesn't pair with the Bluetooth. Samsung couldld not help me .
I have the active 2, and the battery life is awful. I have the LTE version, and with Mobile data on, the watch couldn't even make it through the day. With pretty much every good feature turned off, I can get about two days battery life. I just purchased the versa 3. I need something with reliable battery.

Really good review. I'm an Android user and I'm trying to figure out which watch to buy (Fitbit-WearOS-Samsung Galaxy Active). Messaging/notifications are probably most important to me.
Sounds like Google is about to acquire Fitbit so it may not matter soon 😊

Can you text reply if you have an Android phone? If you go on a run do you need to take your phone to receive texts or get calls?
The fitbit ionic I had wasn’t water resistance like it said so when I get this I’m for sure not swimming with it on
how do you get info on heart rate variability or does it give that info?
So what i'm wondering is the cals burned getting skewed when in normal mode vs an exercise mode? My brother seems to think normal mode is way more accurate. Hence not telling the fitbit you are working out.
Not that I have noticed but it may depend on the person, weight, size, etc.
I love tge daily step count. I sit in my chair air drum while taking steps.

When you receive a message you can click on it and tap speaker icon, then talk text your messages.
The touch button on the side works super great if put your when finger over. Press it like a regular buttton once then twice

Would this screen be too large on small wrists? I have very thin wrists and many watches with large faces (say 40mm) extend all the way to the edge of my wrist and can be uncomfortable. I like this watch, and am interested in buying one for hiking so I don't have to dig out my phone to access music and such, and the fit it really my only concern.
I have a tiny 6” wrist and the watch isn’t too wide.
How is the display in the sunlight? Can you see it?
Does fitbit still have sync issues? I bought two Charge 2s a few years ago and we could never get them to sync with our apps when we wanted them to, the only way was to leave the auto sync on and let them do it when it felt like it. Which drained both out watches and phone battery.

I've had my FitBit Versa 3 for 4 months and love it but yesterday (Dec. 10) I had a problem. It lost one hour! How can that be and how can I get it to catch-up? Minutes are right, just the hour is off by 1 hour late. It didn't run out of battery.

How detailed is the sleep tracker on this versus Apple Watch? Also what about like activity workout calories stuff versus Apple Watch? also heart rate and stuff? I’m sorry I’m reading but getting so confused lol
lol no problem... more in-depth sleep tracking that Apple. Workout and fitness tracking is on par with Apple (or at least close). Apple's heart rate monitor is as good as it gets on a wrist wearable
How did you get the speaker working, using other clock faces creates major lag often which they will say use only their face to fix
Is your speaker not working? Agreed, some watch faces seem to create a problem

Bought myself a Versa 3 at last..I do like my Versa 2....they are similar except the size and the fact that Versa 3 has built-in GPS makes it easier for which I set as 'shortcut' fom my setting..the only thing it bugs me the Fitbit Apps doesn't have Exercise Shortcut where you can select. You have to scroll down the exercise from your watch if you want to change..do you have the solution for that? Thank you

yes, it has a vibrating alarm that works well

What about the problem that so many smartwatches have - counting steps while cycling?
I am sure this does that too. The motion of cycling triggers the step counting
Do you have to have the Fitbit app open on your phone for Alexa/Google assistant to work? On the versa 2 it won’t let me use it unless the app is open on my phone and I always forget to leave it open so it’s pointless

@@dad.0 it says “connection lost: sync device in Fitbit mobile app. Let app run in background to use Alexa” - I’ve never been able to use it without the Fitbit app running on my phone, no matter how I often I sync.
If connecting AirPods to the versa and doing a run - without phone - will it communicate statistics about the run via the AirPods such as distance run, heartbeat etc.?

I haven't tried that one but I have read a lot of issues with the Venu
Apple watch are considered gold standard for optical HRM accuracy. I would like to know after latest versa 3 update , is it similar to Apple? A lot of reviews clearly states the Versa 3 is very inaccurate for strength training.
I can’t speak to strength training but cardio has been very similar to my Apple Watch SE
I’m ditching the Apple Watch for this watch so I can use it on my google pixel 3. It would be nice to use 1 phone instead of 2.

@@dad.0 Great! Thanks for the review and reply. I've still not made my mind up about this watch as some of the reviews online say that the heart is inaccurate compared to other watches. For me the heart rate on a fitness tracker needs to be reasonably accurate.
2 days of battery life sounds like a dream after using a garbage Misfit Vapor X.
I have the versa 2 and can reply to texts. It only gives a few options to choose from though

Some ear buds like the Sony xb700 ear buds don’t connect to Fitbit. Customer service says it will likely be included in future upgrades to the app.
I can’t decide which watch I want to get, can someone help me out.. my choices are fitbit versa 3, Samsung watch active 2, Apple Watch s3, huawei gt2e.. I’m an iPhone user and I need a watch that can store Spotify offline premium music, tracks activities accurately, can be connected to Strava, has gps, smooth system, good battery life above 3 days
You’re probably going to have to make some sacrifices so you’ll have to decide which features are most important to you. I’d personally put them in this order for an iPhone user... 1. Versa 3 2. Apple Watch series 3 3. Huawei GT 2e 4. Samsung watch active

Thanks for this. I’ve had real problems with it not updating or syncing consistently with my Samsung 9. Has anyone else had the issue? I’m now trying to decide whether I should just return it as I’m still within the period I can do that or if I should persevere with Fitbit support (who haven’t been much use so far).
Fitbit is notorious for this issue unfortunately. I’d push it until the last day of the return policy but if it’s still having issues return it

I'm not familiar with Fitbit watches but are there any type of software updates that can improve the touch sensor on the side of the watch?

I think that would be more of a hardware issue so it probably wont be fixed in an update but im not a mathomatologist so i dont know

No, unfortunately. You can transfer music from your computer to the watch for offline playback like a caveman though. Bout 300 songs I read.

There is for Android. I think it's 5 messages that you can customize.

While I don’t know for sure... I believe so. You can connect AirPods to the Versa so AirPods Pro to the Versa 3 should be doable
