The new Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2 are starting to show up at retailers and in mailboxes for those who ordered them early, and I've had this one on my wrist for a full day at this point. These new Fitbits share nearly all things in common aside from a few different sensors added to the Sense, and as a guy who's owned each Fitbit Versa along the way, there are some things right away I think you should know about Fitbit's - and Google's - latest smartwatch.

Gave me every information I needed in quick and easy to understand format. Thanks! Looks like I'll have to wait for them to add the music features.
Did I miss the part about the Sense 2, or does all of this just apply to it as well? Title says "Versa 4 or Sense 2," but we only heard about the Versa.
I’ve gone like 9-10 days so far with the versa 4 without charging as well and it still had 10% battery left
Bought one yesterday and took it back today. My Versa 3 bit the dust and thought I was upgrading but was actually downgrading to a Versa 4.
Thank you! That was very helpful to me, great video!
New to your channel. Love your down to earth style of feedback. Added a sub to stay up to date on everything you cover in the future. Thanks for being so detailed with real life use cases and to talk about what you didn't like about this watch.
Was hoping this video would be a comparison between the Versa 4 and Sense 2 as the title would imply.
I feel the same way. I bought the newest one because well… It’s the newest one, and I figured it would be better than the others. I had the two and my touchscreen stopped working so I couldn’t do certain exercises and they offered me the discount, but I find the heart rate monitor is garbage. I’m thinking about sending it back myself. I’m hoping they fix a lot of things in the updates if they are even able to fix heart rate monitor.
I switched from Fitbits to Garmin (Instinct 2) and I am happy I did. The fitness experience is really what I wanted from my watch and it's a much better experience in that regard.
I'm also considering the venu 2 plus, what's holding me back is the review from the quantified scientist tough, the venu was not amazing during heart rate tracking.
Does it let you track your calories?
@@agtrots yes
there werent really any 3rd party apps on the sense 1 anyway
i gave up on fitbits. They are always disconnecting, not syncing, and the build quality is awful. The Versa 3 is garbage.
Solid information
Still using Versa 1 😄 It still looks great, has that slick design. Battery is not that great, but overall it does its job. Moving to versa 3 when it dies.
Love his expressions and reactions 😃
Seems like Google is killing Fitbit before they release there own smartwatch 🧐
The reason I'm still using my sense is because it's the closest thing we have to a pebble watch. Minimal but useful as any watch should be, plus the long battery life. This generation seems like a step back though, seems like Google is removing features and then adding them to the pixel watch.
Exactly, it's clear what they are doing I don't know why this guy is so dumbfounded lol
For me it’s important that I can call with the watch and receive all notifications. And that it track my steps and heart rate and sleep. I’m good on not having Spotify, because that just took battery out of my previous Apple Watch and I hated that.
In short he does not intend to use the fitbit what it was built for, Which is Fitness tracking. Great Review 👍🏻
Thank you, not having media playback is a deal breaker for me!
Thanks for the review! I'm looking to see if I can connect spotify with versa 4.
You've summed it up perfectly. Yesterday I purchased the Versa 4. It's a big disappointment. I expect when I buy a new version of a product that it is an improvement from the previous model in every way. I wrongly assumed I would be able to use my Deezer account for my music and possibly other music apps. I had considered spending more to buy an Apple watch but decided to stay loyal to FItbit. This was a mistake. Hopefully, I will be able to return it.
Is it worth getting if you've never owned a fitbit?
Great review, very thorough
this is why i am staying with my Versa 3.
Fitbit Versa 4 is an amazing fitness-centered smartwatch! Never mind the lack of music accessibility!
I bought mine yeaterday.yesterday.. ill be returning it asap
I'm looking for a basic fitbit for my husband, who is not tech savvy, so this may be the one I want.
The lack of music storage and control is completely baffling, means you have to carry your phone with you when you go for a run, in which case, the watch is useless.
Alexa instead of assistant isn’t an issue for me but it does appear odd considering its technically a google watch.
I did have a pixel watch (free with my 7 Pro phone) but that had too many issues as well (too small, large bezel and atrocious battery life) so i sold it, my other watch is a Huawei GT3, amazing battery life, large clear screen with the only downside of no google wallet
I had a galaxy watch 5 44mm it was great but just not the same has my sense and Forerunner 945.
Took the plunge and purchased the Versa 4. In reality noones uses voice commands with a watch unless they want to be embarrassed in public. Third party apps who cares and music is only good while walking not on long runs, so just bring your phone.
Versa 4 is amazing build quality and the UI has improved so much. My wife has the pixel but now she wants the Versa 4 too.
As a fitbit user I never used the device for Mysic, third party Apps or Payment... I want the smart watch for health tracking ; that is what sense2 all about.. Looking to buy one when the price come down..
I’m glad you acknowledge the “don’t buy a product based on a future promise”, but you’re still giving credit bc it’s on a page and they both “said” they wouldn’t. Google is TERRIBLE about not delivering on promises, or pushing out the deliverable so late it’s become obsolete. Same with Fitbit. Same with most companies. The principle you stated of buying what exists is the only way to do it 99.99% of the time. Stop giving them credit bc you like google. If it doesn’t exist now, it’s not something worth giving credit for until it does
And you’re expectation that app situation will change…it won’t. They’re removing the Fitbit UI in its entirety by 2023. Anyone with an illusion of otherwise need only be reminded of Pebble watches (which Fitbit not and dissolved). They’re what Beats headphones became for apple: a lesser experience owned by the company to entice buyers to spend a little extra for their own namesake
The lack of long press to change watch face is maybe the best reason for me to get a Versa 4. How anyoing isn't it to be standing with my arms folded, and suddenly there is a new look to my watch.
I agree - why complicate things? Keep it simple. I don't mind using the app for that.
So I have an iPhone and not fussed about call/ message access but interested in music and fitness data. Used Fitbit in past but is it worth investment in Apple Watch or Fitbit?
Well said
thanks for the review. I'm surprised how many other reviewers focus on pans of the product and what objects they have in the background, but fail to actually give you details of the hands-on that you can't find on the official press release
So how good is step tracking? And the battery life?
Watch face removal! Glad you covered it.
My Versa 2 died unexpectedly, so I moved up to a Versa 4. Unfortunately, it seems to be lacking the ability to check steps per hour as you progress through the hour. That feature was a great motivator to get up and move every hour. Now, it only tells you, at 10 to the hour, how many steps left of your 250 per hour. You have no idea if you are close, or if you've already reached your 250. Really disappointed in the lack of this much used feature!
I agree man and my versa 2 is on its last legs I hope it doesn’t die soon because I don’t want to buy a new one after 2 years I wish they lasted longer but I was looking at the versa 4 and it’s a big no for me
I hate that that feature is gone. I also notified fitbit that I was unhappy with that feature.
I'm curious, is the glossy underside glass or plastic? My versa 3's glossy backside scratched so easily.
What OS does Fitbit 4 run and I wonder if it will be available for the Versa 3?
I had to get rid of my sense 1 strap, it started burning me.
I also then swapped to Apple Watch due to the bad heart tracking, the iconic was great, didn’t know what they did
That hoodie is 👌.
Never seen him that cross. 😅
I guess the reason the Fitbit versa 4 is a let-down is that the pixel watch is coming.
My frank opinion: I suspect Google is phasing out Fitbit in-favor of the Pixel watch coming soon. With the lack of features on the Sense 2 and Versa 4, it doesn't seem like an upgrade. I recommend anyone to keep their Sense and Versa 3 watch. The latest versions seem to be useless.
Problem is that the pixel watch is easy more expensive for lower battery life. Unless Google release a cheaper pixel, I think people who mainly just want fitness tracking go to Garmin.
People who need/prefer a device that lasts longer than 24 hours will never switch to the Pixel Watch. There's still going to be demand for "dumb" smartwatches like the Versa and Sense.
Why? did Apple get rid of Beats? Fitbit works on android and apple... If ANYTHING fitbit should pool from the new google watch over time to get better design and smaller bezzles and voice commands.
@@whatwasisaying1338 how long did your sense last? I've read plenty of users have theirs break after 12-18 months. They don't last long.
@@whatwasisaying1338 damn not even 2 years. That's rough.
How the control knobs work for left hand people, when worn on right hand. The knobs can work by right hsnd..
None of those missing things bother me. I don't use Pandora or Spotify (Amazon Music), I use Alexa (not Google), and I don't have a problem changing watch faces with the app. Sounds just fine to me.
Everytime you speak about smoothness of the device we see lag and hick ups. That was always the case with Fitbit and it never resolved. The same pattern here.
Besides features removed, others do not work for me - like Sleep Score and Skin Temperature. In recent years this is a common problem. My Sense did not work either. They sent me replacements that did not work. I think they were units that had been returned. In fact the last Sense sent was DOA. You couldn’t even charge it. I think my Versa 4 will be returned. Why buy something that doesn’t work? Google should be ashamed of themselves selling such poor quality and having useless Customer Service.
It's bizarre that they removed music. They said please petition for it on their forum and they'll see how much support it gets....nuts really.
Do anyone really use a tiny smart watch to listen music?? Ridiculous..
@@matpa089 alot of people use the watch to play music to your wireless earbuds. I don't mean listening directly from the watch.
@@matpa089 Do you really want to be whipping out your phone to control your music when you're in the middle of a workout? Wouldn't doing that from your smartwatch be more convenient?
Its the small things that count to a great or horrible user experience.
@@matpa089 The whole concept of smart watches seems ridiculous if you think that way. Apart from the physical activity tracking, gps and health features like spo2 etc nothing else seems sensible to me you got your phone for that why do people need a tiny watch to do all those things
@@blackpanda7612 Don't control your music until that part of the workout is done.
Is the Versa 4 and the Sense 2 the same unit?
You did not mention the Sense 2 in the video title, as far as I can see. Did I miss it
No google assistant on a product made my google but it has Alexa. He's right what can you say to sum up how much of a fail that was. its like the engineers forgot they work for google.
This is why I'm glad I brought the Versa 2. (Cheaper version) And I'm not going to get the Pixel Watch anytime soon with Google having a repetition of "experimenting."
Same. Love the Versa 2 but need a new one and can't find them (?)
Is music via BLUETOOTH coming soon? Because that's the primary reason I got a smart watch. Unless it gets patched soon, I will likely be exchanging it.....
I have Versa 2 and like it. Was thinking of getting Apple Watch SE, but not sure so thought I'd check on latest Fitbit. Still not sure! I've had a Fitbit going back to the original one I stuck in my pocket.
Hey there!, I also really enjoy watching this video lol❤😊, I hope you’re doing well. I couldn’t help but notice that you have a Fitbit device. I’m really curious about it! What kind of Fitbit are you using? I’ve been thinking about getting a new one for myself and would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks!
Do you know if versa 4 shows notifications when the screen is asleep? I can’t seem to get mine to work and have to turn my wrist to view messages etc. My versa 3 I could see messages instantly without having to wake the screen. Can’t seem to find anything online
It’s this simple on the sense 2 and versa 4. Google want you to pay more for less. In doing this it bolsters the pixel Watch. Unfortunately it’s looking like even the pixel Watch is not going to be what anyone expected for the price.
I guess I'll just stick with my Versa 3, at least it still has the Google Assistant built-in lol. But if I purchase a new watch I am looking at the Amazfit Trex 2 as well
I can't get my new versa 4 to show my incoming texts or calls from my samasung 22 ultra. I updated the software etc. it's like the app needs to be open all the time for my versa to be connected via blutooth.
I had two new Versa 4s. The software initiated a walk, tracking it despite selection of ignore walk. The software has a bug. I had Google Pixel...it quit after 4 days. I returned it. I'm back to my Versa 3.
My Versa 2 is stuck on U.K. time after a recent visit there. I live in Asia. I tried to sync the watch with the Fitbit app for two days via Bluetooth... no luck. My daughter bought a Fitbit for my granddaughter for Christmas and couldn’t get it working via syncing so returned it. I am now considering a Samsung watch instead. There are no dedicated Fitbit service centres in Asia so if Fitbit cannot bother to provide after sales service I can’t be bothered to buy another one. There should be some way to change the time zone on a watch without having to sync with a phone. 🤦♀️
Just received a Sense 2 and had to return it as the Sense 2 call feature has never worked on either of them! That is such a disappointment!! I wanted it for the call feature/ not ever has it connected under bluetooth/ keeps saying “keep your device ln range” how much closer can it be? Next to my watch on my wrist & iPhone right next to it!! Will be returning again!! Sad
Which one is better Sense or versa 4?
You can thank the pixel watch for the removal of local storage. Google wants their products to have identity; Fitbit is the budget conscious fitness tracker and the pixel watch is the jack of all trades premium offering.
For me, Fitbit has been on a downward spiral for years. Unfortunately, I have not found anything that replaces the limited functionality I have with my current device.
So what about the Sense 2 ? It's the same price, but what about quality and screen performance/definition ?
Can I use a pic from my gallery to put on the watch?
Couldn't buy the fitbit versa 4 because of the music playback. It was a big miss. I thought about the Pixel watch, but with the battery life only being about 18 hrs, I couldn't get over that. So, went with an older versa 2. Cheaper, music playback, longer battery life.
And when your Versa 2 dies (they all do eventually), can you buy a new Versa 2? I can't find them. Only refurbished ones.
@@kathyguerra9049 think I saw them in Walmart the other day. But hopefully it does when they have a better new versa or the Google watch has better battery life/lower cost
There is no more snore tracking on Verse 4 too! I pay for premium membership for that😭
It's made by google, but its assistant is Alexa, and its OS isn't Wear OS. It's weird!
Does have fitbit pay?
I think I will stick with my original versa. It seems the newer ones aren't worth it.
Can anyone help with why I have premium but it keeps saying wear for 4 more days to get readiness score?? I have a Google pixel phone. Surely that's compatible!
i got this as a gift, i had a samsung neo like 8 or 9 years ago. the app support and other misc features were there but lacking. i was hoping this tech has gotten better but it seems like its gotten worse. i could do way more with my old smart watch, this new one doesnt even have a calculator
Is this watch waterproof ??
would you say going with the versa 3 is better than the 4 since it is not lacking the features?
Yes it is
@@DarkCloudNC Except for the haptic button many are complaining about.
How long after purchase can you return the sense 2. Had mine a week and not that impressed with it
15 days
I have all the Fitbits except Sense 1,2. Charge 5 ruined my love affair with Fitbit.
I now wear Apple 8 on wrist with a older Charge 4 on ankle for steps and miles.
Any new Fitbit will be seriously researched, if I look at one at all again.
i wonder is an update coming to fix these issues?
Me too.
It will
I just received my versa 4 and i hold down on clock face and it does alow you to change clock face just a fyi
Apart from a bigger watch face, I don't understand the massive premium of this over the Inpire 3
Can we take calls directly from fitbit sense 2 ??
You are supposed to be able to, but mine has never synced with bluetooth! Not even once. It says it is all set up to receive calls but it is not! Frustrating! Will be returning it!
Made by Google. Or should I say killed by Google 😢
They were fucked well before that
They probably killed features to make the pixel watch look good
@@ChristopherPoitras exactly... Which was a huge failure in the battery department
Yeah killed by google. All fitbit released in 2022 has missing features compare to their predecessor.
Uanet charge for dhiz wach
Google assistant is on Pixel Watch.
Which one has google maps?
Why have you not covered sense 2 when you have mentioned it in your caption?
It works exactly the same
The scrolling on the watch looks very stuttery. That, plus the removal of features, makes this an obvious pass.
If you want to cope with Versa 4 then use earbuds with buttons on it and not touch sensors which is stupid imo. I think they want to make Versa 4 feel more safe and minimalist. Which is fine why would you want your watch hacked through wifi anyway. I find wifi useless on a Smartwatch. As for media control it's easy to control music through other options. Not gonna lie I think Google is trying to stop the spying paranoia going on with Fitbit. I am thinking of trying this and what I think before they take down Versa 3 if theu ever do.
Loved my sense but after 15 months screen came off watch
I purchased the new Apple Watch and took it back the next day . I hated it. I purchased the new versa 4 and love it !!

I miss the barcode app!!
I read about a week ago that Google is making the FitBit watch just what it was intended for. Fitness Tracking only. If you want a smart watch, you have to buy a new Google Pixel Watch coming soon. I like my Fitbit Versa 2. Other than the button not working most of the time and it not wanting to charge anymore, it has been good. I was ready to upgrade to a Sense 2 until I heard this news....Now I don't know what I am going to do. Garmin, Pixel Watch, or Galaxy watch to pair with my Samsung phone. Too many decisions.
Same problem here. Looking to replace a Versa 2. Not sure what to get now.
Looks like someone sabotaged the features. Can't really believe they would screw up this bad.
I had a Fitbit years ago but after switching to Garmin, there is no way I'm ever going back. I needed a fitness tracker first and foremost, the "smart watch" things were always secondary. It's nice to get notifications but I'm in the gym 5 - 6 days a week and I'd rather have a very good FREE fitness app than having to subscribe to Fitbit fitness information. Garmin covers all of the basics of smartwatch while delivering an outstanding fitness tracker. People who aren't "that" into fitness will probably continue to prefer Fitbit but true fitness buffs go for Garmin.
What garmin model do you recommend?
@@TheRealHoga I had the Vivoeactive 4 after upgradinig from the Vivoactive 3 but recently switched to the Amazfit GTR 4. It's like the Garmin Venu 2 I always wanted but the Amazfit was less than half the price. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Does this watch have fast charge ??
Hey there!, I also really enjoy watching this video lol❤😊, I hope you’re doing well. I couldn’t help but notice that you have a Fitbit device. I’m really curious about it! What kind of Fitbit are you using? I’ve been thinking about getting a new one for myself and would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks!
The sense 2 is not reviewed in the video.
So you have a glorified charge 5?
Can you down load watch faces at least?
I don't care about 3rd party apps or music storage... but no LOCAL music controls to pause or fast forward whatever I'm listening to? No way. No sale.
I shoulda watched this video before I bought my Versa 4
Idea of the watch is to monitor your body during workouts not to listen music or face time or other stuff.
So from my point of view it's perfect.
So let me get this straight, they took away a bunch of easily implemented, useful features and it's starting at the same MSRP that the Versa 3 launched at? Sounds like the story of tech in 2022...
This should be selling for no more than $149, which is what you can get a Versa 3 for right now. And while we're at it, the Pixel Watch is a joke at $349 too, when the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro blows it away, and it can be had for $209 with trade-in right now! And some people are saying that the Galaxy Watch 4 is almost as good for $179 without trade-in.
I bought one. Not tracking. Fitbit did send me a replacement. Guess what? Same problem. Fitbit took it back and never heard anything again. And they blocked the first one too, can’t even use it to read time. I don’t recommend.
Google maps on a smart watch? How useful could it be to stare into a small display to help you navigate
It's more of turn by turn directions when you have a trip running on Google maps
I wish I could answer phone calls on it from my iPhone 11
