If you wanna be super stealthy, you might even want to chop down a tree and building the improvised shelter on where the tree was standing. After server restart, the tree respawns and your shelter is extremely hard to spot, even if someone is standing right next to it.
You can also carry 1 small stone with you, and combined with a single bone will give you a bone knife, and you can use this small stone over and over again
More info on Leather Bags: They are... - Waterproof - Able to be buried - Can be crafted with 1 tanned leather instead of 2 if you split the leather - Is silent, meaning it makes no extra noise when moving unlike some of the louder bags (Tactical Bag and Assault Bag)
Dude you missed out the best one IMO. Rope + long stick fishing rod and bones + knife for a fishing hook. then just dig up a worm and catch a fish. Miles easier than finding netting and waiting.

I just survived my first full night of game play and its all thanks to you, huge help thanks man. I also got off a lucky shot with my one and only 12 gauge slug and dropped a fully kited out military looking dude.
Remember kids when you shoot an animal go ahead and skin it and create the fur backpack. From there be on the hunt for leather repair kits/gardening lime. Once you found the 2, break the fur back pack down and craft the leather sack with the resourced fur! 63 slots in a pinch AND the leather back pack is silent like the combat backpack but smaller. Combine that with the tactical shirt & trail shoes and you’ll be as stealthy with movement as you can be. PS - Trail shoes have the durability of boots but the noise level of shoes.
Hand wraps and a knife are the absolute first things I look for when I spawn. Also make sure your hand coverings are not ruined when cutting up animals. I’ve made the mistake of sliding down a ladder with hand wraps on and ruined them, I ran 4 km near death before I got tetra.
Building the stick shelter by a pine gives the added benefit of lighting campfire any time of day at the base of the tree with no tell tale smoke plume.
Usually I carry the bare minimum to survive. I go to high tier loot try and get my self an Aug and Svd, a cool outfit and just explore looking for action on official servers.

Playing vanilla DayZ is probably the best way to learn, but damn is it infuriatingly difficult at times. The first 20-30 minutes after respawn can make or break you with one mistake.

So there are more than one option when you combine bark and sticks, if you are on PC you need to scroll to the next option, not sure the console button for that. But yeah basically it's just cycling through other options.

So Official Servers will always have the default values as set the way the DayZ Developers want the game to be, often called "Vanilla". Community is a server that a person not affiliated with the DayZ Team has rented from a company like Nitrado, they can tweak many settings like amount of loot, player spawn points, amount of food, starter load outs ect.
Along with what nitno said, on official servers your character (and the loot on that character) transfer between any official server, however on community servers every character is unique and you will only have that loot on said server
To get bones to make knife Step 1: find or kill any animal or survivor Step 2: skin and quarter using a knife… wait a minute? What if u don’t have knife. *jokes aside I think I know what u mean as u can get loads of bones from one animal and just make loads of knifes* 👍🏿
SK 59/66 my man. Definitely a go to rifle for me. Uses 7.62x39mm so lots of ammo around, 10 round internal magazine, so just put new rounds in, no detachable mag hassle. And a decent rate of fire and decent damage combined with a good PU scope make it great for pvp and hunting alike.
True! Sorry I was not more thorough on that. You can use most blunt tools like a hammer, wrench, ect against large boulders to break off a stone. Equip the stone and use it against that bolder to sharpen it, boom knife has been created!
It’s the same idea. Combining the objects. For me on XBOX if I’m holding one item and hover over a combinable item B shows up as the option to combine.
With the drill kit, it will show up as you can only make the campfire by holding the right trigger, simply tap the right trigger to scroll to the next craft.
You can also combine the bone knife or stone knife with a long stick to make a spear! You can stab with it but unfortunately you can't throw it like a spear
basically that means you took "shock damage" to your leg. Nothing will happen yet, but if you keep taking shock damage to your legs / feet then you will get a broken leg. So be careful jumping off stuff when the foot symbol is up.

I don’t think fish traps are very useful. The ingredients have better uses (namely bottle suppressors and ghillie camo) and it is both cheaper and faster to just make a fishing rod. Especially now that you can make hooks out of sticks.

Wire I usually find in sheds and warehouse. Bottles can actually spawn anywhere.
