Just an FYI to those who say it’s not “organic” … Organic does NOT mean chemical or fertilizer free. Hence why the 2 competing “organic” labels on produce in the US have differing regulations… you MUST have BOTH labels to be chemical free but even then there are NO concrete regulations fertilizers. Pesticides are not the same as fertilizers. Think of “cage free” eggs, if you look at the regulations what you’re buying isn’t what you think. Same with “grass fed” meat, they are still pumped with hormones, antibiotics etc and are from the same 3 big cattle factories. Most of the beef in the US is actually from Brazil and our USA beef is sold to other countries. USDA “GRADE” beef is not beef grown in the US, it’s beef that’s been *processed* and graded in the US. If you want healthy food grow yourself and buy from your local farmer. Love your videos and the inspiration you give. God bless!
I really like the way you two do your videos,so we see the progress from start to finish. It's alot better than having to wait to see what happens.thank you.
I got zero sweet potatoes last year. The heat and drought in Texas was so bad that not even the sweet potatoes grew. This year I’m going to plant them in raised beds. Hopefully that will help them grow better. Love your videos, Hollis and Nancy! I’ve learned so much from you guys! I am eternally thankful to God to leading me to finding your videos. Keep up the great work!
I made 8x4 hugelkulter raised beds, 2 yrs ago. This past fall planted sweet potatoes. In Sept. i harvested a haul end of Jan. Replanted in another raised hugelkulter bed. They did FANTASTIC in them here in SW FL!!
Gardening and growing food is a labor of love for sure. We do it even in the cold, wind, heat, rain and through pain. It definitely could be easier to just walk in a store and purchase what you need. God told us we would toil in the soil for our food but I feel like these days it’s a gift God gave us. The rewards are so great. I am now 60 and I hope I can garden for the rest of my life. Love to all of you out there. My heart is full
Hollis that Lady of yours is a real gem, don't let her hurt herself working to hard. She reminds me of my wife and she hurt herself working like that. You two are amazing and you Sir are greatly blessed.
Love these long term, start to finish videos. I do not know any other UA-camr that does that, we usually see either the start or the harvest Also love the music selection
I love you two so much! I love that variety of sweet potato, I totally understand why Mrs. Nancy and her mom loves them as me and my Korean mother do as well. ;)
I really enjoyed this tutorial. I have to say one of my favorite parts is when little bing bing decided he wanted dads attention and got in the camera view for his debut! And another favorite was bing bing looking for sweet potatoes with you! And he picked one to snack on! 😂❤
So funny, I had sweet potatoes in the oven when this video popped up! I have heard the term "slips" before, but never saw them. I thought you'd just be making each potato grow roots, then plant the potatoes. I enjoyed watching the progression, and the full grown plants were gorgeous. "ain't nothin fun about..." 😂 Wow, that was some seriously hard work. Your back must have been screaming, Hollis! Thanks for the education! And I sure do enjoy the clips of wildlife throughout your videos. Nancy, your coat and hat are beautiful! You look so toasty warm!
Guys I just love your videos, can’t believe I’ve just found them. Planning my garden for this summer as I’m in Kentucky and I’ve learned a lot from you. I did a few containers last year and plan to do more this year. I also have a garden in the ground, but like you said the containers are easier on the body. Keep the videos coming love them all. Your the best on UA-cam!!!!!
Watching you for years now, I finally made my first attempt at growing some purple sweet potatoes and it’s going great! Thank you both so much for sharing your knowledge and journey!
Just found ya'll-hoping to grow some food😁 Ya'll are the most beautiful couple and Sooo inspiring!💕Thanks for your videos,I look forward to viewing more!
You andMs Nancy make a great working pair. Very Cooperative and comparable. Some men think status symbolwhen looking for a life longmate, but thatis so artificial. Working together Peacefully in any goal, makes for a happy productive life. You two are a wonderful Christian Example. Thanks! tms poet Ohio
Great video! Slips to chicken brooder and everything in between. Your videos are so comprehensive. I'm very appreciative of all the work that goes into showing us how it's done. I like especially that you show us when things don't go exactly as planned. Bing Bing's cameo where he shows off his tail end made me laugh! Thank you!! God bless!
Another home run hit out the park video! I enjoyed every minute of it! Bless y'all for blessing us with all the knowledge from beginning to harvest! Bing-Bing sure enjoyed it as well 🤗🤗🙏🙏
I love watching all of your videos! It was great seeing how the in ground compared to previous container grown videos. I enjoyed watching what was happening in the other beds as well. 😊 It would be fascinating to see a map of your entire garden area with information about what goes where over the course of a year. Thank you both!
Thank you both for all of you're videos. It is wonderful so many people asked you so many questions and hence, we all appreciate all of you're videos. Ty so much for helping all of us challenged people with all of our gardening challenges to learn! ❤ -John's wife
In Cuba we have a different kind of sweet potato called boniato very similar to what you planted in this video. They are very sweet. When I saw your wife in the winter attire I thought you moved North. Lol.
Once again I love y'all's videos and the tutorials I appreciate all the effort and all that you put into these videos mr. Hollis and Nancy. By the way Nancy what's the temperature over there in Florida? You look like you are ready for a blizzard! You are so adorable! Y'all have a blessed day. Hugs from Texas
These are the ones my sister and I grew too. We are on our 2nd week of sweetening them up! We either steam them and just eat them plain or par cook them, slice and dip into a tempura batter and deep fry them like green tomatoes! 😋
I really, really, really enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for your efforts to do and share this type of videos. Greetings from Fort Lauderdale. Fl.
I love watching you plant your gardens! I’ve learned so much from you both! We’re planning on building our retirement home on our lot on the west end of Panama City Beach in about 3 years. It’s so helpful to see what you’re using to amend your sandy soil and when you plant vegetables. I can tell you’re probably in our zone where you live. Thanks for sharing and thank you for glorifying God in your lives.
I so enjoy your videos. You and Ms Nancy do so good especially with you explaining everything so well from beginning to end and telling everything you use. Thank you so much! Keep it up!
Wow❣️ That was alot of work. I just love how Hollis goes all out to please Miss Nancy. That’s real love❣️ Take note guys. 😁 Thank you sooo much for all the detail. This is awesome. This project was a real family affair with Bing Bing doing quality control at the end. 😆 I know you all will enjoy. 😋 Much love being sent your way. 🤍❤️💛🕊🙏🏽🥰
One sweet potato I missed harvesting 4 years ago continues to push up slips, and I plant them out here in Central Florida. These are called Japanese sweet potatoes in many ethnic groceries. 'Go-gu-ma' is Korean for sweet potato, and 'Boem' in the front is Chestnut, just to describe the taste/texture similarity to roasted chestnuts. They seem to need at least another month in ground compared to the orange varieties. But the leaves are supposed to be better for eating, if you are into that. As always, appreciate all the work you put into these start-to-harvest-to -table videos.
Hi, we grow these sweet potatoes in Nz. There called Kumera. We grow the Red and Yellow varieties. Love the video. You guys are great. Love the Prayer session too most important. Thanks Deb
I don’t even like sweet potatoes, but since last year I’ve been obsessed with trying to grow them. It’s so satisfying watching the tubers emerge during harvest
Your videos are so excellent. Hollis, I love how you explain in such detail. I am a third year veggie gardener & knew nothing before I started. Your videos are so valuable to me & I thank you both. Question…is the information in your notebook available somewhere? The detailed illustrations & bullet points are awesome. I would love hard copies!
You’ve inspired me to try sweet potatoes this year! But I think I’ll start out in containers. I saw your earlier video on container sweet potatoes. It might be easier on my back. 😊. Thank you both for another exceptional and detailed video. And for the lesson about dealing with adversity! Love you both! God bless you. ❤
Hi miss Nancy and Hollis, what a great harvest you had here. I am a big fun of your channel. Great job on the hard work you put into making this video and for the whole process from planting to harvesting. I'm from Philippines originally. We eat the slips as well. I wish I am your neighbour just so I can harvest the slips and eat them to my hearts content. It is very difficult to grow them here in England, but I do try my best to do it.

TYVM!!! I have been trying to find out what kind these Bam Goguma were for over a year. I found them in a Family Fare grocery store and grabbed some to try. They were the first ones that actually gave me slips to grow and gave me a small harvest. Im so happy for this video.

That’s strange. Sweet potatoes are very drought resistant ! It doesn’t take a whole lot of rain to make yields.
