      Hi! Yall Hollis & Nancy💕
I hav been a long time subscriber of yours, I used my Black Cow for the first time also bc of you using it.
I hope you see this, I'm growing sweet potatoes in a small section of my garden, I want to get as many as possible.
My question is since they are on the ground and I've been trying to keep my runners (vines) as close to my dirt as possible so it will connect and grow more SP. Is it OK to use a U shaped object to get my vines to stay close to the dirt? Will this help me grow more SP from the vines?
And is it OK to put my manure tea on UT as an added fertilizer? I' put bone meal and blood meal in when I planted the slips, but I thought adding the extra ammendment for the new ones that catch & root.
Do the SP hav to be in a controlled temp during the cure period?
Thank you so much for everything you hav taught me thez past years on YT
I couldn't hav done it without you all
Take care & God Bless you both

Hello Hollis & Nancy! Here is a way to cook sweet potatoes I saw on another video by a man who has all kinds of cooking hints. He said he found the best way to cook sweet potatoes is: to first wash them, and then split them down the middle, lengthwise. It's best to use a chubby sweet potato for this, I believe. Now, all you do is place them cut-side down on a parchment lined cookie sheet, pop them in the oven...I think at about 400 to 425 degrees and bake until you see the juice oozing out of them that's turned dark and bubbly. Then take them out and turn them flesh-side up, add butter and pepper on them and enjoy! These are the best tasting sweet potatoes fixed this way! I don't know why they taste so good prepared like this, but they sure do! Try this and see how great they taste! And thanks for your always interesting and educational videos...the best! kristi

You taught me well. From your last sweet tater video I planted 5 big blue 20ngallon tubs from Lowe's. Got 98.2 pounds last year. One tater was as big as my thigh. It was Christmas dinner sweet taters for 24 with lots of leftovers.

@@bcrouch2626 I've sprouted slips both ways. No big difference to me with the exception that neither started producing slips until the temps were right.
With no water you have the additional materials factor and need to keep them some kind of moist anyway. With the water you have to provide maintenance keeping the water level and changing it out every so often.
And if you don't immerse / hang the SWPO too deep from the bottom end in the water you have more potential for slip creation that way. Laying it horizontal under some material gives the same advantage.
      That's been my experience, anyway.

Thank you sir. It took a long while to get the audio improved from our early videos. We lived near a busy road in a subdivision. Terrible for making videos. When we moved to our rural homestead in Florida we invested in a good audio system. The homestead is far off the nearest road and our neighbors are several acres apart. This results is some much improved audio on our videos. We are trying very hard to improve the quality of our videos. Thank you for the kind words. You have encouraged us today. ❤️

Hi there. Love the harvest and love watching you and the Mrs. I noticed that when you planted the slips you planted multiple slips per hole in your containers. Is that how they should be planted vs planting a single slip per hole? Does it increase yield? I planted mine 1 slip per hole but now I'm wondering if I should have planted them in multiples per hole.

Great video. Thanks so much from the UK. I must say you both look like you have a great relationship. I’ve just purchased some purple sweet potatoes from a Japanese supermarket local to us and I’ve started propagating them in old jam and honey jars. Really excited to start growing them. We have a large extended family though and they’ve all started hearing about them so I think I’m gonna have to grow big 😂

Hi Hollis and Nancy. You two are the cutest couple. I have a question please. Besides the orginal bone meal and the handful of blood meal you put in the containers before you put in your slips, do you add any other fertilizers later as the the slips grow until harvest? Thank you.

Thank you….an Alaskan, I managed to grow a beauty from a sweet potato last year! Alas I was
too eager to set it out and paid the price. Will try again this year with your help….taters and cabbages I can grow….But sweet potatoes and okra so far are a challenge :)

So far this is the BEST sweet potato video yet!! I will try that tub technic and make it easier to dump out when it's time to harvest them.

You two make me smile! I didn't do well with my sweet potatoes last year but I never give up. I didn't amend the soil like I should've but I will this time.

We have a deep well. I have grown slips in both city tap as well as distilled water. To be on the safe side, go with distilled water
