I found out the same time as Dylan in this vid that Leia and Luke were siblings. I think its more common to only know the Vader and Luke thing for people who haven't watched star wars before
As a dedicated star wars fan who has never seen this channel, this was so fun to watch. I never realized how many plot holes there were, especially when you bring in obscure lore and every show in this universe. This was legitimately the funniest thing I've seen in so long, and your jokes have got me giggling like I haven't in months.
I never realized until I showed it to someone who had never seen it. Ever since, I've loved the films more for their goofy moments instead of trying so hard to take it seriously
@@thomasfeehan2661 probably why people didn't like the return of the Jedi that much. Not only does the movie waste so much time on the Ewoks, but the twist with leia being the sister turned people of
We got this in laser disc when I was a kid (like 82-83. I was around 13-14). I must’ve watched this movie 50 times before I noticed the bonk & I laughed for 10 minutes straight. I showed it to every friend that came over🤣
star wars is riddled with funny little moments like that, i never understood why the sequels are the only movies that get put on blast for it. even the blue jeans guy from the mandalorian was a hilarious “mistake” and it sucks it got edited out 😭😭
3:33:05 you're actually right about this- Anakin didn't turn evil simply because "the prophecy said so". Anakin had abandoned everything he knew by the time he was 8 years old, and the one person who truly believed he could be trained died. His new "father figure" treated him more like a brother, and as such, he grew up with nobody who would truly listen to him. Jedi are told to not have any attachment, and most start so eary that they have no memory of attachment to hold onto. Anakin, on the other hand, remembers it clearly, and as such held a powerful feeling of loss that he couldn't do anything with. That's why he marries despite what he's been told, why he abandons his mission to visit his mom, and why, in the end, he becomes so power hungry- he needs that attachment as much as anyone else, and was never told of a healthy way to gain it. He's a broken character in a world that treats him more like a savior than a human. Obviously it's no excuse for who he turned into, but it didn't exactly come out of nowhere either.
Your comment would have had better impact if you listed them in the opposite order, building up to the pause button. The way you listed them is like giving random details after the punchline of a joke.
Anakin's fall to the dark side is much more complex than it seems. The dude grew up as a slave which was only the start. When Qui Gon died, Anakin lost the father figure he needed. Obi Wan wasn't ready to train him and he wasn't what Anakin needed. The constant suppressing of emotions is also a big reason why his emotions explode every time something big happens. Like when his mother died. Even with this, Yoda knew of Anakin's pain and did nothing to help him. Anakin was also always treated differently than all the other Jedi. He was given the pressure of being the Chosen One and how important he was. But they also kept a short leash at all times. And then the fear of Padmé's death pushed him even further. Anakin was never truly freed from being a slave. He was a slave his entire life. First he was an actual slave. Then he became a slave to the Jedi. By the end of his time as a Jedi, he was also a slave to his emotions. Only for him to destroy the Jedi and become a slave to Palpatine. The only time Anakin was truly free was when Luke turned him back to the light side of the force
And let's not forget the whole ordeal in the Clone Wars tv show where he was lead to believe Obi-wan had died while everyone else knew the truth and a couple months later he loses his padawan, like man, it was a long way coming
The very first moment of Vader’s on-screen introduction including a sassy exasperated pose with hands on hips is so unintentionally in-character with his true identity it’s actually hilarious 😭
I’ve watched them so many times and never picked up on the fact that Anakin wags his finger at Padme (“don’t ask me to do that”) in the same way Vader does at Leia.
Honestly, the praise Hayden got made me so happy. He's gotten so much hate for no reason over the years. I'm so glad he's going to conventions lately and getting his flowers
This may be because since he didn’t experience the films as they were coming out obviously just the prequels, therefore he’s not aware of all the memes and inside jokes of the said prequels and he didn’t have the “biased” of the hate those receive in general, that’s why his experience is pretty much inside a bubble of not knowing anything of anything and discovering things as the movies progressed. As someone who watched the films as a child is so funny to me 😂
@@gilgamesh8334A lot of Dylan’s takes in this makes me think he would actually really like the Clone Wars tv show. Too bad it wouldn’t really make good content for this channel (though I’d watch for sure) and of course the early seasons are really uneven. Though those final 4 episodes are better than a ton of the movies imo…though you need the build up first
It was so disturbing to me that I didn't even realize what I was looking at for YEARS! It's like the dead bodies at the beginning of Tarzan. I understood that death had occurred, but my brain couldn't process the images, and a version of this film lives in my head where the corpses are just off-screen.
@@joepagram8287 i think he made a comment about how Luke must've had a messed up face before filming for them to immediately make him get beat up in Episode V by the yeti dude
@@joepagram8287 he did, he just assumed that maybe why his face changed was because maybe mark must of had a injury and they had to put the story around that
This is a dumb nerdy comment but I still wanted to make it. When the Emperor basically says 'yes, give in to your hate and kill me. Then your transition to the dark side will be complete' and you wondered why he'd tell him that instead of keeping it secret... it's because he wants him to think that, because that's the only way it works. He wants him to think he's falling to the dark side so he will have doubt and be corruptible. He's lying because if Luke killed him for the good of the universe he's doing the right thing. But the Emperor not only wants him to hesitate before going for the kill but also wants to plant the seed of doubt. Very classic Dark side move.
I still can't believe that Hayden Christensen got all that hate for his role as Anakin. As Dylan already stated, he is clearly a great actor, and he gave an incredible performance with his role as Anakin. Thank god he got redemption in modern times, but it still feels unfair to him back then
@@jennym2276 If you look at his audition video he was very natural unlike others. Plus he was just starting his career so he wasn't going to be amazing the first time, but in the later movies he displayed his deep anger and trauma SO well.
I agree. Majority of the “acting issues” can be attributed to the super dramatic dialogue. Revenge of the Sith is a hard one for me to rewatch all the way through because it hurts too much. He did a great job.
On the off chance you see this comment: Rogue One and Andor are exactly what you asked for, regarding ‘why should I hate the Empire?’ and ‘how does the Empire work?’ They’re both so deep into what it’s like to be under the Empire, especially Andor.
The story of Anakin is so sad... he was never really free, born a slave in Tatoinne, being raised as a tool and a soldier for the jedi (and getting his promotion to knight because of the war), and meanwhile we have Palpatine grooming him in the dark until Anakin doesn´t have anyone else to turn for help (isolating and turning him little by little against the jedi). The moment when he gains freedom is when he dies after saving his son and killing his abuser...
What’s even sadder is I’m pretty sure he’s only like 23 when he becomes Darth Vader and then dies by the time he’s 45. He spent the first ~quarter of his life as a fucking slave and then the last half a tortured horribly disfigured nugget cyborg twisted by hatred and evil. Shits fucking sad.
R2-D2 really is an MVP of the franchise. He’s gotten them out of so many situations it’s crazy. And I agree the lightsaber fighting improved as the movies went on. And it is true that in most cases they say love is the strength in a movie but falling in love in the Star Wars universe is a death sentence. Anyone who’s either been married or fall in love die. Glad you did this reaction video. It was fun to see it through someone else’s eyes, especially someone whose not seen the movies going into to vs a fan.
i lost my boyfriend recently to cancer and he made me watch all 6 episodes before he passed (which i loved every second of). we watched episode three in his hospital room so the emotional rollercoaster this was of happiness and almost feeling like i was reliving the emotions of watching it with him for the first time made me smile constantly for 4 hours. that’s the happiest i’ve been in the 5 months since he passed. thank you for this hilarious yet comforting commentary edit: thank you everyone for your wonderfully kind comments. Connor was the kindest soul and i’m so grateful to see that exist still❤️
Dylan having the superior take that the Jedi and their ways are morally skewed, and that that was what inevitably sent Anakin on his path… this commentary kicked ass
That is most certainly not the "superior take", it's the objectively incorrect take. His insight on the Jedis teachings were horrible. Jedi said no attachments, and Dylan thought that meant No emotion. No, the Jedi were not what inevitably sent Anakin on his path, Palpatines manipulation was. The Jedis lack of seeing to Anakins personal problems helped towards it, but was by no means the biggest contributor.
Bruh it’s just a dude reacting to Star Wars, there high budget and insane work on certain documentaries on here about super interesting topics, and videos on how to do certain things that would otherwise cost money in school courses, I’d say that type of content is what’s incredible to be free.
i finished this video yesterday, but have been thinking about it ever since and needed to come comment. i’ve been a long time viewer and i just really think that this video is such a great representation of what makes dylans commentary so special. this vid has such an amazing mix of humor, real commentary, noticing of details, nuance & just appreciation for the universe that is star wars (im also a big star wars fan so that helps). things like noticing hayden christensen’s ability to really act like a conflicted kid & dylan’s ability to realize the faults in both the republic & the sith was so incredible. on the point of “why is the empire really bad” i couldn’t help but think about rogue one and andor, but i just think that this video is such an incredible first viewing of star wars. him finishing episode 3 and feeling bad at the end i think says so much about how he was willing to buy into this universe & really not just process it on a surface level. ugh idk, dylan this was so incredible & hasn’t been able to leave my brain since i finished the video
Had genuinely thought Dylan was making "watching all of Star Wars" just one of his running jokes. Like college and him being a book author. Best surprise ever.
Literally! Not only was I jump-scared into seeing he had not forgotten his Instagram password but I thought he was lying when he said he actually posted a Star Wars video 💀
If the dude would be quiet and just let the story unfold for 5 minutes, he would not be confused. It was pretty clear to all of us that the Republic was gone in that original movie. The promise of seeing it in the prequels was a huge selling point of those movies.
I aleays think back to how people understood parts of the star wars lore before they were fleshed out in the EU. And I had never thought of that one in particular. Loved seeing it.
When we saw this video, my husband and I decided to watch the movies with you! We watched all 6 movies and then that section of your video after we finished each one. Then I watched through the whole commentary a second time today to relive the whole experience. This is hands down my favorite movie commentary you’ve done! I’ve only ever seen starwars once before and I enjoyed it 10x more this time through. It was so fun to watch you have the exact same reactions I had while watching. Thank you for all the work you put into this!
2:21:24 “you wanna raise sociopaths, that’s what you want? You want no emotions? That’s the path of a Jedi? I don’t think that’s right” Actually all of Dylan’s insight during this scene was spot on! As far as Anakin’s fall and how the council contributed. Very insightful
Are you stupid? "Spot on"? He couldnt have misunderstood the Jedi teachings more. His insight was as shallow as a pond. Sociopaths? Do you even know what being a Sociopath constitutes? The Jedi was never about "No emotions", it was about No attachments. Emotion was very much still allowed, in abundance even, just a very specific few emotions were not allowed, as they could directly cause you to end up on the dark side.
@@nicanproud that’s the whole point of the prequels… to point out the flaws in the jedi’s dogma… and set up for the balance brought to the Jedi way in the original films by Luke/Leia and ultimately Anakin
Bro I love that Dylan recognizes and appreciates Hayden’s performance as Anakin. Because his performance was genuinely moving and had to carry a lot of weight considering the struggles with the writing, directing, and overall pacing of Anakin’s downfall. It fr baffles me that ppl thought and still think that Hayden’s acting was bad. Especially when it comes to the scene where he tells Padme about the Tusken village he slaughtered. You can really feel the weight of his emotions grappling with his actions and capacity for hatred of an innocent party. I also feel that he played Anakin’s frustration of losing his mother very well, bitter and resentful but then impulsively violent
The advantage Dylan has over any other movie commentator is that he actually understands writing and movies so well, it’s actually engaging to hear him criticize stuff even something like star wars lol, cuz he knows his shit
This could have easily become a 'Why do people like this?' reaction. Instead i just had the best 4 hours hangin out and sharing the joy of your experience with this story. Thanks for the great time Dylan. Revenge of the sith is one of my favourite movies of all movies. Watching you put together the story was a great feeling.
Same!!! It healed some part of me seeing another person just enjoy this saga almost as much as I enjoy it, after trying to get people close to me invested in it but just not getting it, thanks Dylan
yessss there's been so much hate in the star wars community so it's nice to see someone sit down and just react to the movies without whining about everything and just having a good time
Ikr I was so happy! As a super big Star Wars fan I loved just seeing someone acknowledge how good it can be instead of being like "how the fuck did this get popular?"
the inconsistencies with name pronunciations are because on set whenever asked how they were pronounced, george lucas was just like 'eh say it however you want' so thats why sometimes is lee-ah sometimes lay-ah sometimes hann sometimes haan
In the French dub, it's even worse, as the translation for most of the names is not the same in the first movie from the rest of the franchise. Some of those choices were really weird, like Han is called Ian. My favorite: Chewbacca is literally translated into Chiktaba (not sure how they spell it) for the entire IVth movie, and nicknamed Chico 💀
Probably wasn't on purpose, and definitely doesn't help for a films sake, but I think it's a pretty cool idea to have characters do this. Adds a sense of realism as people in real life get peoples names wrong all the time, especially a public figure head like Leia. Reminds me of how people say Rihanna a different bunch of ways.
its so refreshing to see someone watching these movies that actually enjoys them. Almost forgot how much i used to love star wars as a kid, the whole world was just so awe inspiring.
yea its kind of insane just how much the reputation of the star wars franchise has been destroyed in the last like, 6 years or so. ever since tlj it seems like its just been downhill
I watched your 2 harry potter marathons, your LOTR marathon and this marathon back to back and I really apreciate the thought and the monumental effort you put into these videos. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. What a journey ♥
I was doing chores with this in the background and wondering why it never stopped then I clicked and saw it's longer than the lord of the rings director's cut, bless this 20 year old man
I’ll never forgive the Original Trilogy for not diving into Leia as Vader’s daughter. It should’ve been a massive deal, even more so than Luke as his son. Leia: “Holy sh@t! The guy who tortured me and blew up my planet is my FATHER?!” Vader: “Holy sh@t! I tortured my DAUGHTER and blew up her planet?!”
Vader never turned against the Emperor because he didn’t have a reason to. The Emperor told him that Padme was dead, so Vader assumed that their child died with her. That’s why he sounded surprised at the start of Empire when the Emperor tells him that Luke is the son of Anakin. It’s the reminder of Padme and the life he could have had that reignites the spark of good in him. That’s why he offers to overthrow the Emperor with Luke at the end of Empire; it’s the same thing he tried to do with Padme. And Luke responds in the same way she did, by rejecting him. anyways i could basically write a whole thesis about how Luke is his mother’s son, but that’s too much for a youtube comment. this video is everything to me and i can’t wait to watch it over and over again like i do with your LotR video. Cheers, Dylan. i’ll see you next Monday.
I’ve always thought the same thing! People draw comparisons between Luke/Anakin and Leia/Padme since they each followed the respective roles of their parents of Jedi and diplomat, but personality-wise, Luke is all Padme and Leia is all Anakin
Yeah it's sort of like the guy who just coasts by at work. You know if he applied himself he could do better and I'm sure even he himself knows he could but he really has no reason to because the extra effort is meaningless. He has all he really needs and he has no reason to go beyond that, you could say he lost his spark. Overtaking the emperor would only serve to give him extra workload.
It’s so fun to see someone’s reaction for the first time. As well as someone who can acknowledge the plot holes and unjustified character decisions (looking at you, Padme). Thanks for sharing, Dylan.
The amount of time and effort Dylan put into this is insane. Six movies edited down to just four hours. And he still edits his own DIIT videos. We need to send him some extra love for this one!
His disdain for Chewy was so funny. At first I was like, "nah I actually like Chewy," and then when he had to take his headphones off because Chewy wouldn't stop making noises I understood lmao
Oh my gosh I ADORE this video. I’m an avid Star Wars fan, so this was some of the best content for my soul. Your assessment of the Jedi was spot on. It’s one of the things I love about Star Wars is how the Jedi destroy themselves by forbidding attachment and emotion. Notice that in Episode 6 it’s Luke’s attachment to his father that saves everyone. If Anakin’s attachment and emotions had been encouraged, the whole Darth Vader turn would have been avoided and the Jedi would still be around. But their pride corrupted them and they were blind to a freakin Sith Lord in their very midst because they thought they were top dawg. It’s so tragic and so well done. Episode 3 is one of my favorite movies of all time🔥 Thanks for making this.
06:20 “i felt like coming in i was gonna cheer for darth vader and then he hands on hips a little too hard so i was like, okay i guess i’m on the skywalker side” LITTLE DOES HE KNOW LMFAO
His ability to guess weird plot twist outcomes but have no idea he’s guessed it yet, like with the fake out of the queen in the phantom menace and him insisting it was not Natalie.. I love it
Unsure if he plans to do another Star Wars video with the sequels and the one-offs, but I would LOVE for Dylan to see the scene from Rogue One where Vader is just slaughtering everyone in that hallway. It’s such a funny contrast to the hands-on-hips finger wagging, especially when you consider that it happened right before episode 4.
Literally my first thought when he said that, I was like "oh I wish the first moment you see Darth Vader is in That Hallway Scene from Rogue One". What a brilliant way to show the super real actual threat Darth Vader is
@@SillyKatt69yeah but in a way it’s better that he experienced this way, because when he watches rogue one he’ll understand that scene and how powerful it is, to contrast on how funny he found it to be the first time around
Dylan, i just wanna say that you’re the only content creator that, despite my hate for these social and content platforms, still intrigues me into coming back once in a while on your channel. You provide us with such a fun and pleasant way to forget about the everyday troubles, but still in an mind engaging way. Following your train of thought during your movie commentaries is just so captivating and i feel i’ve learned a lot, over the time, about movies. Who needs college when there s your channel, right? You have such a kind presence and i truly wish u the best!
The fact that you never really get to see what life was like under the Empire in the original trilogy is one reason I liked Rogue One so much. I don’t usually care for spin-offs but this one fleshed out and gave more meaning to the original story. Also, I absolutely think that the Jedi are at least partially responsible for Anakin’s turn to the dark side
Rogue One is probably my favourite Star Wars movie. It’s just so perfectly crafted. I love ESB a ton too though so it’s a hard choice!! So excited Andor season 2 is finally out soon
"So they both understand each other's language, but only speak to each other in their own language?" I never found this odd because my family does this with Spanish and English 😂 Also... changing a car's oil is pretty easy Dylan 😂 but I appreciate your honesty in admitting you don't know how
Dylan, something I've noticed while watching this video is how effing smart you are. You are extremely perceptive and this makes you an amazing reactor. You constantly guessed things correctly, like Mark Hamill's car accident needing to be written into the script and Anakin Skywalker being Vader's dead/previous self. I really enjoyed watching this!
This is the first thing I've watched on his channel so I don't know for sure, but another comment mentioned that he went to film school. It explains why he catches all the silly background details, and also all the main themes, even the subtle ones. The way he makes fun of the iffy parts while still respecting and enjoying the good parts
The father thing he got because certain parts of star wars are forever spoiled for new watchers because of the countless references and parody's in other movies and shows. He literally said an iconic moment is about to happen with Luke am your father.
@@MC-Clap-Yo-Hands I don't think that is what they're referring to though, most people know that about Darth Vader, but if you keep watching the video, Dylan actually guesses a lot of stuff correctly! He does that in a lot of his reviews too it's kind of epic.

My dad had me watch the movies chronologically instead of originals first and I was so upset about Anakin that I sympathized with him the whole time I watched 4-6. My teenage self was like “I’m going to name my future son Anakin!” 😂
No cause for real I remember back in his Harry Potter/Twilight review era where he said he wanted to do Star Wars "really soon." I genuinely thought it would never happen at this point lol. I've never seen Star Wars either, so I can't wait to experience this franchise through Dylan.

i don’t know how to explain it, but dylan looks like the type of person to have grown up loving star wars. so it doesn’t compute in my head that he’d never watched them before till now lol
Yet he reads about the construction of a new Death Star and then immediately after reading that and seeing a half constructed Death Star he says "didn't it blow up completely?" 😂😂
Yeah I’ve watched a ton of Dylan’s videos and while I don’t agree with *everything* he said here I think this is his masterpiece. It’s sooo good! I need more Star Wars content from him STAT. So funny and insightful
@Shae29 I'm not entirely sure, but Ive read it was an issue with combination of microphones and cameras used that resulted in the audio for the takes to be unusable, and wasn't discovered until after photography had finished

another kind of lore bit that he brings up a lot is he went to film school. like he went to school for it but also that school got shut down and lost their accreditation so he makes fun of it a lot lol

3:15:27 dylan’s genuine excitement with the lightsaber duels has to be one my favourite things ever 🥰☺️ lightsaber duels will always be the coolest things to watch 🔥🔥🔥
Dylan commenting on how it would be great that the reason for Anakin's turn to the dark side are the Jedi themselves and them forcing Anakin to repress his emotions would actually be a great plot. I mean it did kind of happen, but I wish they showed it more.
The clone wars show does a great job of showing it and the entirety of the war. So good! It really breaks down how the Jedi were so set in their ways that it became their downfall. Also how palpatine was such a genius mastermind playing both sides.
Dylan getting into the story during ROTS because of Anakin is literally everything. As someone who has consumed almost every piece of Star Wars media, his story is seriously just so brutal. Shows like the clone wars really flesh him out and makes the movie so much more tragic. Also side note to Dylan: Padme died from "losing the will to live" but most people think that the emperor killed her in order to keep Anakin under his control as Vader.
@@ilmarziano I always thought it was the worst form of post pardom depression....I have had a form of it before and believe me, I now get her feelings. Then add on what Anakin had done to the younglings and to her and the trauma that her whole body has been through....yeah I get why she gave up.
There's a syndrome called 'Takotsubo cardiomyopathy' which is known as broken heart syndrome or acute stress cardiomyopathy. If you think about the stress she went through after seeing the jedi temple on fire and she doesn't know if Anakin is alive or not. Obi-Wan comes and tells her 'Anakin has turned to the Dark side and has killed younglings'. Then she goes to see Anakin for herself to see that he's betrayed her and chokes her. Then she goes through labor. All of that stress on one's heart could literally kill someone. If she hadn't given birth, she would have miscarried.
That "she's prolife and he's prochoice" joke you made in Episode 1 was so spot-on. Seeing your face when you saw the kids and realized what was about to happen was priceless.
I enjoyed this video so much!!! Me and my husband love Star Wars, I’m so glad you appreciated all the right things about the story. It took days for us to watch this, but it was like getting to watch Star Wars for the first time again.
4:00:43 No idea if he'd see this or if someone else has already said this, but there's actually a great theory that the Emperor is actually draining Padme's life to restore Vader. He already claimed earlier in the movie that he had the power to save a life, but he never explained HOW. It's very likely a life has to be given, or in this case taken, to save another one. No one knows anything about the dark side powers, so when there was no physical ailment killing her, they probably just assumed that she had just lost the will to live.
Palpatine tells Vader very clearly in the third movie that he actually doesnt know how to create life but that maybe him and Vader working together could figure it out. You don't need a fan theory if its explained in the literal movies that Palpatine lied.
yessss was waiting for someone to comment this! It's even better when you listen to the heartbeats line up- Padme dies and then Vader takes his first breath.
3:44:00 The reason for the dubbing in 2 and 3 is because they were using digital cameras (and 2 was one of the first films to do so). The cameras were so loud that the entirety of the 2nd film had to be redubbed. I’m sure it was a similar issue in the 3rd
As a long time Star Wars fan there was something about watching Dylan piece everything together and experience the emotions through the last movie. Definitely hope we get another video of him watching the rest of the movies.

@SailorDee you can see the moment everything clicks for him
Anakin's fall to the dark side is much more complex than it seems.
This is why the clone wars is soo good

Fun fact: the actor of Chewie actually spoke lines while in the suit, so that Harrison Ford wouldn’t feel like he was talking to a brick wall
The moment when he gains freedom is when he dies after saving his son and killing his abuser...
yeah, one thing I liked about the Ahsoka series is that we see him finally free and whole, how he could have been if every piece fit correctly for him
What’s even sadder is I’m pretty sure he’s only like 23 when he becomes Darth Vader and then dies by the time he’s 45. He spent the first ~quarter of his life as a fucking slave and then the last half a tortured horribly disfigured nugget cyborg twisted by hatred and evil. Shits fucking sad.

That is most certainly not the "superior take", it's the objectively incorrect take. His insight on the Jedis teachings were horrible.
Especially when it comes to the scene where he tells Padme about the Tusken village he slaughtered. the inconsistencies with name pronunciations are because on set whenever asked how they were pronounced, george lucas was just like 'eh say it however you want' so thats why sometimes is lee-ah sometimes lay-ah sometimes hann sometimes haan
in the BTS footage George Lucas even pronounces stuff different. he say NAYboo for Naboo for example.

You know if he applied himself he could do better and I'm sure even he himself knows he could but he really has no reason to because the extra effort is meaningless. dylan guessing that mark hamill messed up his face before shooting and that's why they included the injury in the first scene is actually impressive
@@aubreyalexis6154 am only disputing the father thing not everything he predicted
thank you for acknowledging hayden christensen's amazing performance! He got so much undeserved hate after these movies came out its refreshing to see someone give him the credit he deserves
Bro did not give an amazing performance. He was pretty bad at times, much better at others, but overall it for sure wasn't an amazing performance
@@jokerx7739 He ate. You're a hater. Simple.
@@ntheghettoratatatat I never said I hate his performance
He was pretty good in ep3, hard to tell in ep2 since all his lines suck, but it just really wasn't amazing. Especially since I can imagine someone else than him doing a better job
@@jokerx7739 Don't let them shoot you down bro, you're spot on

I loved watching you fall in love with Star Wars. Please more!
i love that at 1:05:26 he knows exactly what scene is coming and what the "big twist" is but he's still completely shocked by everything else happening. it's still an effective scene despite being one of the best-known twists in cinema history and i think that's so cool
Dylan's second hand sickness at Anakin in the third is so real, I can never watch it all the way through because it hurts too much
saaaaame ;;_;; oh Ani....
My dad had me watch the movies chronologically instead of originals first and I was so upset about Anakin that I sympathized with him the whole time I watched 4-6. My teenage self was like “I’m going to name my future son Anakin!” 😂
ive been waiting for this video for YEARS
I can't believe it's been so long but I'm not complaining!
My EXACY thought!!
No cause for real I remember back in his Harry Potter/Twilight review era where he said he wanted to do Star Wars "really soon." I genuinely thought it would never happen at this point lol. I've never seen Star Wars either, so I can't wait to experience this franchise through Dylan.
SAME
DUDE ME TOO!!!!
11. Days. Later. I FINALLY FINISHED watching this😪 That was great I really enjoyed that . I’ve never watched Star Wars before and my mom has and she’s a huge fan (she has the DVD collection). I’ve never felt the need/want to watch it but now that i finished watching Dylan’s commentary I’m excited to actually sit down and watch the whole series 😅 thx Dylan 👍🏼
i don’t know how to explain it, but dylan looks like the type of person to have grown up loving star wars. so it doesn’t compute in my head that he’d never watched them before till now lol
Literally thought the same thing
This makes absolute sense😂 so I hope he liked them
real 💀💀💀
What did he watch growing up?? Nothing??
Exactly!!
The way Dylan picks up on the tiniest details is crazy. His predictions are almost always spot on. I feel like he could write a good script
I feel like he could write a good book. He should do that.

Easiest 4 hour video I've ever watched. You are truly amazing, time passed and I never felt bored or wanted to watch something else to break it up
this is truly one of Dylan’s best videos I’m so glad he didn’t cut anything. honestly wish he kept more in 😭
Yeah I’ve watched a ton of Dylan’s videos and while I don’t agree with *everything* he said here I think this is his masterpiece. It’s sooo good! I need more Star Wars content from him STAT. So funny and insightful
3:48:06 It's so satisfying hear Dylan say that Hayden Christensen did an incredible acting job.

Wow, this is the most emotionally vulnerable we've seen Dylan since the He's All That video
2:55:17 good catch! Episode 2 specifically had some kind of technical issue during production, and they did in fact dub the ENTIRE movie!
Wait what happened??
@Shae29 I'm not entirely sure, but Ive read it was an issue with combination of microphones and cameras used that resulted in the audio for the takes to be unusable, and wasn't discovered until after photography had finished
@ ah okay
@@SpacepoetYT That must have been a horrendous day for someone when they realized what happened.
The camera buzzed and you could hear it in every shot. That’s why they dubbed them
I can not believe this is happening, I got teary when you mentioned how good Hayden´s acting was, He never deserved the hate he got at that time, I literally relived my first experience, watching with you is a joy. thank u
Honestly ep III is an incredible movie!! Its always been my favorite!

This is my first time watching your channel. This is such a good reaction. You are simultaneously (mostly) insightful and very good at comprehending the deeper meanings of what you’re watching, while also disrespecting it for the sake of humor
This is it- the single best descriprion of why Dylan’s channel is soo entertaining!
another kind of lore bit that he brings up a lot is he went to film school. like he went to school for it but also that school got shut down and lost their accreditation so he makes fun of it a lot lol
LITERALLY LOL thats all dylan does
Welcome!
This video not only made my week better, watching bits and pieces of it every night, but I genuinely think this is this best video on the platform I've seen in a long time. I truly hope Dylan watches the next trilogy. I think it'd be fun to see a reaction of The Mandalorian series as well ( I PROMISE I'M NOT LEAVING RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE COMMENTS--I WOULD NEVER). ;) Anyway, making it to the end was really satisfying, and I was cheesin for sure. Thanks Dylan for a great video!
2:28:50 it’s mainly to show the two differences between the Jedi and the Sith. One kneels and starts to meditate to clear his mind, the other paces and builds up his anger and aggression, i think it’s brilliant and adds to the story!
3:15:27
dylan’s genuine excitement with the lightsaber duels has to be one my favourite things ever 🥰☺️
lightsaber duels will always be the coolest things to watch 🔥🔥🔥
Dylan commenting on how it would be great that the reason for Anakin's turn to the dark side are the Jedi themselves and them forcing Anakin to repress his emotions would actually be a great plot. I mean it did kind of happen, but I wish they showed it more.
The clone wars show does a great job of showing it and the entirety of the war. So good! It really breaks down how the Jedi were so set in their ways that it became their downfall. Also how palpatine was such a genius mastermind playing both sides.
The clone wars really shows his decline!
@@mariah96551Came here to say thjs😊

Dylan saying 'I should be a writer' like we aren't still waiting for his book to come out
Anakin and Padme are 5 years apart in age. In the first film, they are 9 (anakin) and 14(padme). In the second movie, they are 19 and 24 respectively.
Yup! And then 22 and 27 in episode 3. I don’t think the movie makes it super clear there’s a 3 year gap between 2 and 3
Dylan getting into the story during ROTS because of Anakin is literally everything.
EpIII is my favorite Star Wars! Its so incredible!
A few years ago i watched Ep I-6 in order and by the end i cried...its all Anikans story!!
that theory is a little far fetched to make sense to me but hey, I'll accept everything if it's Star Wars XD

I always thought it was the worst form of post pardom depression....I have had a form of it before and believe me, I now get her feelings.
She's prolife, he's prochoice. Can I make it any more obvious?
timestamp?
@@cheetahgal1429 this theory would make Palpatine telling Anakin “you killed her” even more messed up
Palpatine tells Vader very clearly in the third movie that he actually doesnt know how to create life but that maybe him and Vader working together could figure it out. You don't need a fan theory if its explained in the literal movies that Palpatine lied.
yessss was waiting for someone to comment this! It's even better when you listen to the heartbeats line up- Padme dies and then Vader takes his first breath.
And you think he wouldnt lie?@@Prince_the_One
@@Prince_the_Oneno he doesn’t, he literally created anakin
3:44:00 The reason for the dubbing in 2 and 3 is because they were using digital cameras (and 2 was one of the first films to do so). The cameras were so loud that the entirety of the 2nd film had to be redubbed. I’m sure it was a similar issue in the 3rd
As a long time Star Wars fan there was something about watching Dylan piece everything together and experience the emotions through the last movie. Definitely hope we get another video of him watching the rest of the movies.
I’d love to see him watch Rogue One after all his Darth Vader comments. The scene near the end when he shows up is legendary
I watched through this whole thing in one sitting, there was never a dull moment. I have been a Star Wars fan my whole life and absolutely loved to see Dylan react and try to figure everything out, and I laughed and laughed at his jokes. These movies are just masterpieces.
I like how Dylan totally forgot that Leia's planet got blowed up, so techincally the king (her father) is dead...
But then again, Senator Organa is her adoptive father and he was no King ;-)
