      ItsTimeIDisappear09 At the pace he was on with Pirates and beginning of SF years no way he gets to 600 without the juice. Maybe 520-540....because I seriously doubt he would have played as long as he did without the juice. But yes he was a wonderful talent.

    The golden key to baseball is being able to fail 70% of the time and still maintaining your focus and confidence. Baseball is a supremely humbling game of mental tenacity. Having the physical gifts and putting in the work are vital, but without the mental aspect of your game, you won't be able to walk that razor's edge.
    The ability to be relaxed and alert at the same time doesn't hurt either. It is, after all, just a game.

  • @ExMachina70
    @ExMachina70 5 років тому +8

    I always understood Barry Bonds even though his most controversial years. The reality is, he beat the MLB at their own game. He was tired of the league overlooking players who were using PED’s and getting away with it (ie McGuire, Sosa etc.) so he went that direction and DESTROYED RECORDS even though pitchers kept walking him. The league DID NOT want him to break the HR record, yet he still did.

    Actually the best doesn't get singled out that's the most idiotic thing I've heard in a very long time..... Babe Ruth wasn't singled out as the greatest home run hitter ever. I'll keep going Willie Mays was never singled out as the best home run hitter ever... I'll keep going. Hank Aaron was never singled out as a greatest home run hitter ever... I can keep on going but I think you get the point. If you gave steroids that Barry Bonds took in his prime his prime was supposed to be in his thirties not in his upper 40s. That just let you know how ridiculous people that make comments like this really are. Joe DiMaggio Mickey Mantle Pete Rose all those guys who set records you gave them a bunch of steroids they would have demolished every single record there was in baseball. But they didn't have them back then and they didn't take him back then so their records are absolutely the actual records. All of a sudden Barry Bonds turns 40 and becomes bigger than the freaking Rock from WWE and starts hitting 500-yard home runs give me a freaking break wake the hell up. It makes me sick to my stomach that people don't realize that he took steroids to make himself better and that's exactly what he did him McGuire and you can go ahead and say well it was legal back then no it actually wasn't they just got away with it. He was so good why is he not in the Hall of Fame? He would have went to the Hall of Fame without having to dope his whole body up and his head looks enormous compared to what it did look like when he played for the Pirates. Get a picture of him playing for Pittsburgh Pirates and then get a picture of him playing for the San Francisco Giants when he's 42 years old enormous difference buddy. Admit it makes me sick to my freaking stomach. Even have this conversation

      Fenderjaguar7 as much as steroids build up muscle mass and over body strength, it messes with your balance and you still have to focus on connecting with the ball enough to get under it. Stop playing yourself, he was a great player.

    The undisputed 206.5 pound: If steroids make it harder to hit a baseball then how do you explain his incredible numbers later in his career. The added strength turned what would have been doubles and triples into home runs. Hope he and the rest of the druggies never get into the HOF.

    It's funny watching morons talking about Bonds's head size (steroids do not cause head size growth; that's from water retention from other things he was taking) and physique. Bonds was taking designer steroids to improve his fast-twitch muscle. He wasn't a pro wrestler or even an NFL player and he wasn't taking steroids to get ripped. And he WASN'T ripped. His physique was not evidence of anything. There are millions of people who have and continue to put on weight the way he did. He went from being slender to a chubby guy with some muscle. There was nothing remarkable about his body. The visual evidence he was on steroids was in his performance. That's it. There have been plenty of other players who juiced and actually became ripped, and they continued to suck as hitters. Then there were players who took the right stuff and improved, and you wouldn't have any idea they were taking something illegal.
