  • This guest needs no introduction. A rare interviewee and one of the, if not, the greatest baseball player of all time joins R2C2, Barry Bonds. A 14x All-Star, 7x NL MVP, 8x Gold Glover, 12x Silver Slugger, 3x Hank Aaron award winner, 2x NL batting champion, all-time home run record holder (762), single season home run record holder (73), and so much more. Barry breaks down the evolution of his hitting technique, game day routine, his era vs. today's generation, living out his baseball dream, and the role of analytics in the sport. He also details the business of the clubhouse, facing CC at the 2004 All-Star game, and the toughest pitchers he ever faced. A true historian of the game, Barry breaks his silence to share his rare perspective with CC and Ryan in the latest episode.

      The host brings up Bonds being intentionally walked 120 times in 2004 but what I think was more impressive is how he hit more homeruns than he had strikeouts that same year. That's extremely rare for a power hitter. The other thing was him being intentionally walked with the bases loaded in 1998---the same year as the McGwire/Sosa chase.

    • @therealbs2000
      @therealbs2000 11 місяців тому +4

      There were stretches that season where he had like a 28:5 ibb/k ratio. Like he was being intentionally walked almost 6x the rate of his strikeouts.

      Bc they’re not pushing back whatsoever. Telling him he’s great, zero hard questions, that’s a waste of everyone’s time.
      We all know he’s great. We all know he’s always been a d!ck from day one, and often times it was unnecessary. I’ve learned nothing from this conversation.

I remember my first time going to Candlestick to see Barry, I will never forget that escalator ride up into the stadium, and how cold I was lol.
    Side Note: The giants have to guys on the IL right now with fractures from being hit......so guys are definitely still getting hit.
