Why is everyone complaining that it's 'too basic'? It literally says it in the title that it's just the basics. Just because it's too 'basic' for you doesn't mean that it's useful. Sometimes it's good to revisit the basics, so stop complaining. If it's too easy for you, go onto one of the numerous intermediate videos on UA-cam. People like me appreciate these videos that go over the basics, so stop calling them useless. They're not.

    • @kalinsapotato

は and へ are read as wa and e respectively ONLY when they are particles, that is to say when they are tagged onto the end of a word for grammatical purposes. When they're used for spelling out a conventional word like a noun, they are the standard ha and he. Hope this is somewhat helpful!

We rarely say ‘watashi wa’ part because you know that I’m taking about myself. Instead, try using ‘to moushimasu (と申します) replacing from ‘desu’. It’s a humble form of introducing yourself, so it automatically suggests that you’re referring to your name. ‘My name is Jane’ could be ‘Jane to moushimasu’. It sounds sophisticated, even though ‘Jane desu’ is also correct.

I think I'm really starting to understand this whole pitch accent thing in Japanese. Like, when they said "hajimemashite", I could hear the low and high pitches. It sounded like [ha - JI - ME - ma - sh' - TE]. Also, I'm starting to notice that, for certain moras ending in 'i' or 'u' sounds, when these are pronounced in low pitch, they become into what many English speakers would recognise as a schwa. Meaning, they sort of "disappear". It's really rather fascinating. I plan to start learning Mandarin Chinese in two weeks and, hopefully, recognising Japanese pitch accent will lead to recognising and emulating Mandarin Chinese tones.

Taking screenshots of the lesson for later is a good idea and learning from screenshots taken on your phone is perfectly fine! Though to help you out, id suggest writing. It helps with memory. Writing down something helps commit it to memory easier! Also the notebook will be helpful. You can write just about anything in there! You can practice writing your characters and writing words! This is a suggestion though. You be you! さよなら!

To those who are calling people selfish for asking for a higher level, stop.
they must have binged through their channel and know a lot of this.

Why are there so many selfish people who do not want them to post basic classes? Are they paying for it? there are already so many advanced classes but people bother with lessons for those who are still learning

This may be a late comment compared to when this video was uploaded, but this helped me so much! It really motivates me when you guys make it so simple to learn and understand. It took me more than 25 minutes to get through the video due to writing notes, but these kinds of videos made it easy for me to get the notes and to write them in my own words since it's easy to understand. Anyone learning Japanese should definitely use this video. Thank you!

I think it's more practical to learn Kanji at the same time as Grammar, it's very convenient to learn a Kanji meaning through a sentence or a question that you can use in conversation.

Thank he won in 25 minutes to learn Japanese grammar it’s a little more complex than that! Couple years minimum! That’s with intensive study and practice! Specially if you get into the reading and writing but just a grammar alone 25 minutes what even scratch the surface but this is an excellent lesson! Nonetheless

It's good opportunity for also Japanese to learn English . I think Japanese language is difficult but Japanese people understand what you mean even if Japanese grammar doesn't follow strictly . I can understand by just only lining up words . Almost of all Japanese know Japanese language is difficult for a lot of foreign people so don't worry and never mind 😄 I'm glad just only have interest for foreign language .

I can read hiragana and katakana now, but I can't translate everything into English. I simply know the basic ones. When it comes to kanji, I have a hard time writing some of them and barely remember all of them. Nonetheless, I would continue to study. I'm not sure how long it will take me to master it, but one thing is for sure: improving myself requires dedication and hard work! :) がんばろう!

A little advice if I may: Don't learn a language depending on another. Its bad to translate a language into another when learning it. You just have to learn it like a newborn, don't be afraid to not understand some things, our brains are amazing, they'll do the rest. And let me make it clear, learning Japanese is for life, if you really want to master Japanese, you'll study new kanji and expressions everyday until the day you die. There's over 50000 kanji around (while most of them are never or rarely used) you might find it fun to learn new ones everyday! がんばって!
