Also, I'm starting to notice that, for certain moras ending in 'i' or 'u' sounds, when these are pronounced in low pitch, they become into what many English speakers would recognise as a schwa. Meaning, they sort of "disappear". It's really rather fascinating. I plan to start learning Mandarin Chinese in two weeks and, hopefully, recognising Japanese pitch accent will lead to recognising and emulating Mandarin Chinese tones.

Am I watching this instead of doing my homework? Yes, because knowing a different language is more helpful than being able to multiply 1/2 and 3/8, or being able to find the Little Dipper in the sky.

I don't see any comments on it and this video is 4 years old so I'm gonna say it. The JFK comment was very funny, and I think the more casual conversational structure is great for these basic lessons. Everyone starts somewhere and basics are what children tend to learn through repetition and exposure. A more mature back and forth pointing out patterns and shortcuts was a lot more intuitive to how I learn now, and I think it helps it feels like basics, not pre-school work. Thank you for the free school, this has been my TED talk.
Thank you for this video!! It is extremely basic exactly what I needed to get started! You all explained it very well and I am looking forward to watching more of your videos!
This is an excellent companion for the beginning Duolingo Japanese course. It's very helpful to get the practice with direct feedback there, and have the logic and context explained here.
This has been extremely useful! I'm pretty much just starting to learn Japanese, knowing hiragana and a few Japanese words made reading these exorcises before listening very fun! trying to figure out what it means without being told yet.

もしもし! it might be easier for you to screenshot and study from your phone but id recommend writing down the lessons and phrases in a notebook! Taking screenshots of the lesson for later is a good idea and learning from screenshots taken on your phone is perfectly fine! Though to help you out, id suggest writing. It helps with memory. Writing down something helps commit it to memory easier! Also the notebook will be helpful. You can write just about anything in there! You can practice writing your characters and writing words! This is a suggestion though. You be you! さよなら!
It will be easier if you download this video and repeat watching this every night before you go to bed. Learning is about repetition isn't it? So it will build your muscle memory automatically 🙂
I can read hiragana and katakana now, but I can't translate everything into English. I simply know the basic ones. When it comes to kanji, I have a hard time writing some of them and barely remember all of them. Nonetheless, I would continue to study. I'm not sure how long it will take me to master it, but one thing is for sure: improving myself requires dedication and hard work! :) がんばろう!
A little advice if I may: Don't learn a language depending on another. Its bad to translate a language into another when learning it. You just have to learn it like a newborn, don't be afraid to not understand some things, our brains are amazing, they'll do the rest. And let me make it clear, learning Japanese is for life, if you really want to master Japanese, you'll study new kanji and expressions everyday until the day you die. There's over 50000 kanji around (while most of them are never or rarely used) you might find it fun to learn new ones everyday! がんばって!

THIS TOTALLY MADE EVERYTHING CLICK FOR ME!!! Thank you very very much!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!! I've been studying other vocabulary like fruits, vegetables, objects and such but now I have a good idea of how to use them in a sentence!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Too beginner my @$$. Surprisingly from so much anime I've watched, with this a lot more is clearer to me and now i see the reason why you hear stuff like this a lot. I thought they were different words, no app I've seen teaches this and they want you to pay × amount BS... Great vid. To all partial japanese speakers complaining its too easy, stfu why dont you finish learning yourselfs if it is that easy, it's perfect for people that know nothing like me.
Can ignore a few subs now and then 😜
日本語がだんだん上手になる。ありがとうございます。
Thank you soo much for this video lesson, all I need is to able to read hiragana and katakana and I'm currently learning hiragana
I still have a long way to go to able speak japanese well
Good luckkk
how is it going for you now in 2025?
Thank you, please keep posting these lessons
Greetings from Iraq
Thanks sensei 👏
Was great tutorial.i'll appreciate it , thanks alot🎉
Am I watching this instead of doing my homework? Yes, because knowing a different language is more helpful than being able to multiply 1/2 and 3/8, or being able to find the Little Dipper in the sky.
DUDE IKR
Same😭
Very nice for japanes language beginor.
So your my free life time acount NEVER needs money
This video is insanely helpful. Also, it's hard to focus when that guy's voice comes in.......I like him.
Risa sensei i loved the lesson, as I am still learning, I would love to see more classes as is. ありがとうございました
+pc conex interesting points ,if anyone else wants to uncover how to learn to speak japanese try Nevolly Fast Japanese Nerd (just google it ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my neighbor got excellent success with it.
I was learning vocabulary on drops for the past few months but couldn't understand or talk a thing but this video enabled that!
Thank you
To those who are calling people selfish for asking for a higher level, stop.
they must have binged through their channel and know a lot of this.
Thanks a load, i learnt a lot from this 🔥
Thank you so much! Upload more videos like this. I love this channel.
And???, did you learn??
@@Roberta-kg8jo sadly not. Got a decent ways into Pimsleur, but I was unemployed at the time, so I stopped it. Planning on starting it again real soon!
This is the best lesson from the series in my opinion.
Lets apply the lesson then😅.
Kore (This) wa Saikone (best) Lesson deshta of this series. 😊
i think it'd be something like this
kore wa, series no naka de, saiko no lesson deshita.
this was, of this series, the best lesson.
Ive taken around 40 screen shots, now my finger hurts
lol literally me when watching an anime and my favourite character comes up... i already have 8000+ screenshots from the past 10 months and im seriously not proud ;-; rip storage space
@@ren0511 I thought I am the only one who take many screenshots 😭😂
@@maryanne5280 oof haha 😂 it's all good xD
もしもし! it might be easier for you to screenshot and study from your phone but id recommend writing down the lessons and phrases in a notebook!
1st time i was studying with passion and i learned everything immediately
がんばって!
The best Japanese learning site I've ever seen
You guys are the best 🔥🔥 thanks alot😭❤️❤️❤️
