Roxie- I'm self taught and have to admit that was the hardest part for me to tackle. I experimented with several different picks / holding positions / pick angles until I got it to work. I'd suggest getting a pick assortment pack (Dunlop) and try a few until you find one that compliments what you are trying to play. In general, lighter picks are easier for strumming and the more rigid ones help with picking. I usually default to a Dunlop medium (.60 or .73) for all around use.

I saw a few tutorials on it and then figured out the easiest way (for me) to lay it out under the fingers.
I have it in a book with tab but this really helps with the sticking points, thanks
