Can you do a video on how to improve the use of your epiglottitis i am on a quest rn to learn all the types of distortion methods and how to use each part of my voice box because i love making noise in general a lil help would be appreciated since no one talks about how to properly use your epiglottitis sorry for the long comment
Hello, thank you for the comment! Epiglottis is a tricky topis and I think that's why not too many people talk about it :D
When I started practicing vocals, I fell into a trap of learning the epiglottic distortion instead of false chord and it ruined my voice to a degree that I resigned from doing vocals for a few months, and after that I started from scratch because I realized that my technique was going to nowhere. Then I fell into a trap of using my arytenoid cartilages instead of the false chord. After the third start-over I found my false vocal folds, it was 1,5 years after my first attempts with growling and screaming (now people that practice with me sound better after 1,5 hours than me after those 1,5 years xD).
What helped me, after many years, to get in control over my epiglottis and use it in a way that doesn't hurt my throat was mastering the jazz growl.
I have a question, does "jazz growl" hurt your voice more than other techniques even if performed properly?
Technically, if done properly it should be at least neutral (not harmful) but it's something different than the false cord distortion because it's mostly about the work of epiglottis and arytenoid cartilages, not the false vocal folds.
