Easy and Safe Metal Screaming Tutorial (Beginner Level)

  • Hey, I hope you find this helpful :)
Don't forget to work with a voice teacher online or in person if you can, and remember to be kind to yourself as you're working on your vocals. It can feel awkward to practice since your instrument is literally part of your body - you can't exactly see your instrument, and it can feel oddly personal. That's totally fine :) A teacher will be able to help you with your personal vocal struggles better than any UA-cam video can!
Like any other skill, it just takes time and practice to build up stamina and precision. It's incredibly worth it just for the good it does for the soul, and for annoying rude neighbours. I know you'll use your new powers wisely :'D
    Happy practicing! \m/

Some singing technique needs to be applied here, power comes from the diaphragm NOT by straining the throat muscles. But the other thing to note is that this kind of singing is done in a microphone, end of story. It's not exactly meant to be an a cappella, unplugged kind of style anyway!

I’m Vinnie Swage the washed up rocker. I was an 80’s hair metal screamer. I used belt high notes effortlessly. Unfortunately In my older years, I still have a voice but no longer can any high notes and have to adjust my voice to compensate. I’ve jumped right into the contemporary metal and I’ve struggled to get the growl although my range can handle it. I just tried Your technique and now there’s no stopping me. Thank You! 🤘😠🤘

I often find screaming tutorials cringy to watch as a lot of people who upload them have either not come far in their practice, and/or they don't know how to adequately explain what they are doing. Yet I think you provided a very educational walkthrough, especially as you demonstrated in one breath the difference between exhaling with/without breath support. I think your style of walking through each new step and then repeating the whole chain of steps is helpful to many beginners!
