It maybe is just my opinion but I think he delivered his speeches so well because he is “visibly” the oldest actor who played the doctor in the new era. It makes us think that his words are much, much wiser than other doctors, even subconsciously.

All the more remarkable because he's on his own in the TARDIS, addressing nobody but himself. In lesser hands it could come across as a bit corny, but Capaldi makes it feel like the most natural thing in the world.

"You think this is a war, this funny little thing? This is not a war, I fought in a bigger war than you will ever know, I've done worse things than you can ever imagine, when I close my eyes... I hear more screams than anybody will ever be able to count. And you know what you do with all that pain, shall I tell you where you put it? You hold it tight, till it burns your hand, and you say this. No one else will ever have to live like this, no one else will ever have to feel this pain!"

It makes much more sense saying did than think.

Except that would have been the wrong thing to do from a mental health stand point. I saw a comment from someone who appeared to work in a profession that deals with people’s personal problems who said that just listening was far better than to try and comfort Graham. Because offering comfort remarks the problem in the person’s mind. They said that listening then changing the conversation serves to mentally cauterise the psychological injury. Trying to comfort can leave it open. So her giving a speech about it might have worked well for Doctor Who fans, but it would have been the wrong thing to do from a mental health stand point.

12 is just such a good doctor. His character development is beyond belief. Like I’ve watched doctor who since I was little and LOVE all my doctors, but there is something so different about him. Idk I just really like the man lol

My favorite Doctor is Ten, and my *favorite* monologue is even Tennant's (his "I could do so much more" one, I think it's beautifully sad and acted amazingly).... but the Zygon Inversion speech, as far as speeches go, is still the best.
Side note, anyone else have a very weird perception of the Stonehenge speech because you've heard it on the soundtrack so many times?

I hope in part 2 they add Thirteenth's speech to Tzim Sha in her first episode:" We are all capable of the most incredible change; we can evolve while still staying true to who we are. We can honour who we have been and choose who we want to be next." and also all Twelfth's speeches ( he had too many to list them all here). I also hope they do the same video for classic who.

I think the Doctor’s speech to Susan is probably the most heartfelt. Just a grandfather trying to ease his granddaughter’s fears as he rips his own hearts in two by leaving her.

Dude, capaldi’s war speech just gets me every time. Just the acting and the emotion he put into it is amazing and I can’t help but to feel sorry for the doctor especially in that speech.
