Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a 2020 first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision. It was released worldwide on November 13, 2020, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It serves as the sixth installment in the Black Ops series and the seventeenth installment in the overall Call of Duty series. The game is the second Call of Duty title since 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to be co-developed by two studios.
Black Ops Cold War's campaign is set during the early 1980s of the Cold War, taking place between Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012) chronologically. It is centered around a pursuit of the alleged Soviet spy Perseus, whose stated goal is to subvert the United States and tilt the balance of power toward the Soviet Union. For the campaign, the player takes control of "Bell", who is recruited by CIA officer Russell Adler into a multinational task force created to hunt down Perseus. The campaign also sees the return of Black Ops characters Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson, with Mason also being the playable character in certain missions. The game's multiplayer introduced new game modes as well as new map dynamics and elements, carrying over several design choices introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It features a seasonal content system similar to Modern Warfare, which includes a battle pass as well as free maps and weapons added every season. Cold War also features narrative tie-ins to Modern Warfare via the campaign and multiplayer, establishing a shared universe across multiple Call of Duty sub-series.
The game was originally developed by Raven and Sledgehammer Games and not intended to be an entry in the Black Ops subseries. However, the development suffered from disagreements among the two teams, resulting in Activision placing Treyarch in charge of the game's development in 2019, with Raven acting as a co-developer to them. Marketing for the game began in August 2020 and was done in different forms, including certain content creators receiving slide projectors, puzzles made to be solved online by fans, and a website showcasing historical Cold War events. A public multiplayer beta for the game was also made live in October 2020. Black Ops Cold War received generally favorable reviews from critics, with praise for the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies, while criticizing its technical issues and lack of innovation. It became the best-selling game of 2020 in the US.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a 2023 first-person shooter video game developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision. It is a sequel to 2022's Modern Warfare II, serving as the third entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare sub-series and the twentieth installment in the overall Call of Duty series. The game was released on November 10, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Modern Warfare III retains the realistic, modern setting of its predecessors and continues the sub-series storyline. The story follows multi-national special operations unit Task Force 141 tracking down Vladimir Makarov, a Russian ultranationalist and terrorist planning to trigger a third World War. The game's multiplayer includes sixteen remastered maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, with at least twelve new maps planned for inclusion post-launch. A Zombies mode, co-created by Black Ops sub-series developer Treyarch and built around an open world player versus environment experience, is also included.
After wrapping development on Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021), Sledgehammer Games were reportedly assigned by Activision to develop an expansion pack for Modern Warfare II, which then changed to become a full, standalone release in the Call of Duty series. After a series of leaks in early-to-mid 2023, the game was officially revealed in August 2023, with a showcase event and public beta also taking place in October. Upon release, Modern Warfare III received mixed reviews: it received praise for its multiplayer mode but criticism for its campaign mode, while its Zombies mode received mixed opinions.

Why does the weopons on MWIII always look so washed out? Plastic like.. no shading
Mw2019 is way better on lighting but some players complaining that the enemy is hard to see, because of this MWII and MWIII reduce the graphics

I understand nostalgia but brother you are tripping. MW3 has amazing animations and sounds and they’re CORRECT. Cold Wars quality isn’t even 50% of MW3s…

I hate how plasticky MWII and III's guns look.
Most MWII weapons look at least kinda realistic, but all MWIII guns look like they're made from plastic and zero metallic parts

CW’s model is better than MWIII, but man I’ve never liked Cold War’s animations. Everything looks so tacky and unfinished and the sounds are middling. I don’t like MWIII at all, but the animation is pretty damn decent, I love the double loading and the sound isn’t too bad for a Sledgehammer game (the studio with the worse SFX compared to the rest lmao)
The sound of the SPAS in MW3 is extremely on point as well

MW3 Spas-12 model and everything was an upgrade to BOCW considering theh fixed the mistakes it had and improve the animations and reload quite better,sure the iron sights are atrocious tho.

Nah, at most, BO6 will use similar material rendering for all the objects that make that sort of flat plastic look for character models, but the game will benefit from the lighting tech of IW 9. The campaign footage showed that enough. The lighting issues in Cold War were simply from an outdated engine.
BO6 is same engine as mw2 and mw3 actually.
