- How to clear all data off of the oculus quest 2 or quest headset, you can do a factory reset. This wipes everything off your oculus quest 2 or quest, and returns it to the software state that it was in when you first took it out of the box. Performing a factory reset cannot be undone and will remove all account information, downloaded games, and content from the headset. if i have 2 oculus headsets paired to my meta account and i factory reset 1 headset, will it erase all of my data across my other headsets?
No I don't think it should delete anything from the other devices
When i press the buttons the menu pops up then when i stop pressing the buttons it goes away
that's strange
I figured out, you need a fully charged headset before doing procedure, otherwise the boot screen will pop up and dissapear before your able to select anything.

Thank you for this I just bought my headset a couple months ago and have had multiple problems with it even though it was brand new right out of the shrink wrapped box downloading apps and signing in so today It crashed completely I could not do anything with it except get to the home environment. It stated that I had no apps installed and there was no movies or games anymore in the files folders which there were 2 of those BTW I don't know why. Anyway I did the factory reset and I was able to get to the home screen again and setup the WiFi again and finally download all my stuff again which was very annoying but I am glad I was able to do it. This all happened when I changed my Oculus, password and pin and the reason I changed them was because my apps in on Oculus were stating that they were not installed and when I visited the Meta, website which is what Facebook, is now called I found out the password and pin on the site were the wrong ones how this happened ? is a very good question. Anyway so far now it's working again but what a big pain now before with Oculus GO, and Samsung Gear, you didn't have these headaches.

I have a question, after you factory reset, do you loose all the games you originally bought in your account ..?
When I press off the the volum button the screen goes away
this is pretty much how you reset it, does your screen ever come back on?

It don't matter if it does, yeah it probably does and that's normal
Can you help me so when I hold the power and volume button down the screen appears but quickly disappears
not sure I would try both methods
Same here, boot display quickly turns off when letting go of (power and minus volume button) Itwon't let you use volume button to move it to "factory reset."

yes factory resets normally do get rid of malware

you should still have your account but you will need to log back in to it like you did the first time you set it up

When I do that. With power plus down volume. Nothing show and light turns red. It's a new device
I don't have "advanced settings" in my app when I go to that menu. This may be outdated, as I just downloaded the app a couple days ago.

if you paid for something then that should be yours in your account all the time for good since you paid for it you should be able to reinstall it free

how long should a factory reset take. I am having the issue where the quest gets stuck on the logo and won't get past it so I decided to factory reset, after doing that it went straight back to the logo it was stuck on... is this the headset factory reseting or is it not working

ok so when i did this it fully reseted ofc, and loaded to the reset thing and like i was at the “create your boundaries” thing, for like a few seconds it just all faded to black. I was confused and all but it just went black, i turned it off and on, black. nothing was working at all but the sound. I think imma have to return my oculus if it’s possible :/

yeah probably but you might need to check on the Facebook's Oculus support page for more info on your situation, because I'm sure they offer a way to reset it for your situation

So I just got this yesterday and I was playing then it told me make a pattern I did that really quick an I forgot it. My phone won’t connect anymore. if I factory reset will I still have me profile or will it still ask for the pattern to my profile
not sure it might ask for the pattern but I would check on their support website and it should tell you what to do if you used the pattern, I didn't have that setup on my profile so it might be a little different for you
i bought a VR head set thinking it was new but it was actually locked can i do this without having to put in the old password or can i just factory reset and be fine
Not sure I think you can just reset it and put your own info in, If not you might have to check Facebook support to see how to handle that situation

you should be fine you will just need to re download and login into stuff again, it's annoying but usually a reset will fix most issues

if you paid for games then they should be still in your account and you need to reinstall them

yes but if you paid for games then they will still be available for you to install on a new device because that is saved in your account because you paid for them, but if you factory reset the headset it just removes your account and the games from the headset

That’s strange maybe it’s saying that because something is not compatible but since you paid for the games you should not have to pay two times so you might want to search around on the support website and see if anyone else is having a similar issue

I try to that screen on manually reset but minute I lift finger off minus button screen dissapears
you should be able to reset it using one of the two methods unless there is something else wrong
my oculus won't connect to my phone so I cant go to the advanced settings
Remove the app and toggle off and on your Bluetooth then reinstall the app and try again. Also reboot your phone to see if that heleps

I can’t RESET IT because I need to unlock the pattern when the reason I need to reset it is because I FORGOT THE FUCKING PATTERN
I hate when that happens, I have since sold this headset but there must be a way for you to get around that, check on their support website for ways to get around that.
Vol + Pwr did not bring up boot menu
I would try it a couple times, they might have updated the process then it would be a different method
i have the quest i tried hard reset option however everytime i release the volume button it closes and nothing happens.
How problem started
1. i havent been using my quest for around 2 months now and decided to return back.
2. Charged the quest, after it charged, i noticed it didnt turn on immediately.
3. and after it turned on, noticed a lot of app in que. after 15min+ the initial game saying install was still the same, it was not downloading (richies plank game), so i decided to use YT vr and wait it out.
4. after 30 min or more of browsing some videos, the screen showed shutting down - shut down option - i dint press the option to shut down
5. then it started showing oculus logo and white light kep blinking.
6. cant connect via phone and i tried manual hard reset but its not working.
make sure you release PWR+Minus when you see the oculus logo, before the menu shows up. If you hold the buttons down all the way until after the menu shows up, it will interpret the PWR button release as selecting option #1.
