Let’s give it up to Alex. This dude works so hard on this channel (so does Mollie), is always on point, informative, honest, and remains positive and passionate. The only Star Wars channel I personally care about anymore. Thanks to all you do.
hear hear! they’re the only channel that manages to tow the line between criticism and appraisal, offering their own opinions as well as others to create neutral grounds for discussion. best star wars creators out there!
I'm always amazed by his episode reviews. He's a true walking Star Wars encyclopedia. He's got an uncanny ability to notice minute, but significant details and tie them back to previous minute, significant details in the series and overall Star Wars universe - and he puts these out incredibly quickly, and with great production value. And he's the best kind of fan - passionate but not fanatical - he loves this stuff, but he's also not afraid to say something is 'meh' if he doesn't *love*-love it.
I would 100% give a chance to Wave Squadron (same guys from Blind Wave channel of reactions). Eric and Aaron are great, funny, have a deep love for Star Wars and even when they are debating stuff they disagree with each other they have fun doing it while being respectful for the content and people who enjoy it.
Twin sister that’s revealed to not actually be a twin sister but a (fictional) split personality thing, could be wild. If they mess with our perception of the passing of time correctly, we could assume we’re following a sister, maybe they give her a different name and vibe to throw us off, and then realizing it’s always been her.
Dude that's awesome. I was not thrilled about the good/bad twins leak since it sounds a bit cliche, but split personalities formed through her childhood trauma sounds intriguing.
Leslye Headland did say in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the series is something like "Frozen meets Kill Bill". Since the story of Fronzen is about the relashionship of two sisters, I tend to believe that Alex is right about Mae having a twin sister on the show!
Calling it now, the Jedi will come to the conclusion the coven of witches where the ones behind the murders and the sith have not returned. Of course we will know a sith was manipulating everything.
Yeah, and it could be possible to just assume that these were a bunch of dark Jedi or a sith cult. So the real Sith still are able to stay in the shadows but cut all ties with a cult or group that can just be chalked up to dark side worshipers.
Yoda did know that the Sith were not wiped out 1000 years prior to the Phantom menace as he knew about the Rule of 2 (Quigon's funeral) which did not happen until after the Sith were supposedly wiped out 1000 years ago
That is exactly why I think Yoda will appear in the acolyte with this show telling the story of how he and the jedi of that time learn of the rule of two and dismisses it as ravings of a mad woman. (I also think that Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis could be the masterminds financing the coven of witches through their public disguises as Rugess Nome and Hego Damask and that they likely swayed Mae to the dark side so they could use her as an assassin like how Plagueis and Sidious used Maul. Long story short the Jedi start investigating the coven and Mae starts killing them to avoid the jedi discovering the siths connections and learning of the grand plan which probes the Jedi furher into this mystery)
Its interesting what Alex said about the jedi maybe defeating the red lightsaber wielder and thinking that they dont need to cause an alarm to the rest of the republic about the sith being back, because that is exactly something Yaddle said in episode 4 of Tales of the Jedi. Right after Qui Gon's first confrontatiom with Maul, Yaddle say to Dooku she believes that Sith may have come back, but they need to keep that a secret until they knew more
After seeing TPM yesterday, I could 100% belive Yoda and Mace knew of something by the glance they exchange when Qui-Gon says he think it was the Sith that attacked him
Yeah. George Lucas wrote I believe in the script for The Phantom Menace, as well as in the Novelization, that there were suspicions about the Sith for centuries, and that they knew to some small extent about Darth Bane, but not much beyond, nor did they want to come to conclusions lest public panic ensue.
I really hope this show hits the mark because it is SO important to the future of Star Wars. To this point, every canon on screen story plays into the Skywalker Saga and while that’s great, Lucasfilm needs to prove that it can create great stories in this universe without relying on the timeline between Phantom Menace and Rise of Skywalker.
I love your work Alex (and Mollie). You are so positive about the show, even if the darkness rises under the comment section of the trailers. I try (yeah I know there is no try) to avoid the negative sounds but it is really hard. But I am so happy, there is a peace place on YT, where I can find positive point of view. Thanks. About the trailer. I'm a big fan of High Republic. I already finished Phase 1 and 2, and I cannot think other but what the Jedi Counsel did at the end of Phase 2. They just covered up what happend on Dalna. Nobody knows nothing. In Mission to Disaster which takes place on Dalna too, we learned there was something in the past, and the people of Dalna blame the Jedi. What if they will do this again after the meet of the Sith? I love the metaphoric about the Jedi Temple. That was my first thought too when I saw this shot. I really like the feeling, absolutely THR wibe. I am really excited about this show, I hope it will be succesful despite the negative response.
The angry "fans" screaming about this show breaking canon have forgotten that even at thee time, we KNEW the jedi were wrong about the sith being extinct.
To me the most telling line for how the Phantom Menace line will still be canon is the trailer literally starting out with the line “The Jedi justify their galactic dominance with peace” this tells me that perhaps even if they do know the Sith are back, the Jedi involved will keep it a secret or defeat the Sith and assume there are no others (like you said). The Jedi themselves accepting the Sith are back would mean breaking the illusion that their presence guarantees peace and we know that by the time Phantom Menace is happening a lot of the Jedi have been recalled or just don’t go to planets a lot and live amongst the people (we know this from the recent Living Force book). So I think in an attempt to preserve peace the return of the Sith will be swept under the rug until the later years when nobody is even LEFT to remember or know
After seeing the helmet I immediately thought of Sith artifacts like Darth Momin's helmet. If that sort of thing is the case, then I could see the Jedi throwing the possessed item in that vault from the Vader comic, and just continuing to think the Sith were still gone.
If Ghengus Kahn and his forces suddenly reappeared on the face of the Earth, you'd be hesitant to accept it at face value, too. Luckily for the Jedi, they did decide to investigate the apparent return of the Sith by sending Jinn and Kenobi back out to protect Padme and confirm. The Council was wrong at first, but they had reason to be skeptical and acted appropriately.
A lot of people seem to forget that Darth Bane created the Rule of Two AFTER the defeat of the Sith 1,000 years before Episode I As such, how could Yoda know about the existence of the Rule of Two? It's an inconsistency that was explained once on Legends but never in canon... At least until now
That always bothered me how Yoda would know about the Rule of 2. Yoda being involved in the "coverup" would make a lot of sense and knowing about the Rule of 2.
“Always two there are, no more no less.” If they left it at the first part, it would have been fine. Than it would just mean there is at least one other out there. But “the no more no less” is definitely the problem, if the order really thinks the Sith want extinct because this rule was implemented. It is especially weird coming from Yoda, he will have trained with veterans from the Jedi-Sith War. Even if they knew from The Acolyte events being covered up, why would he assume a future Sith would hold themselves to the Bane system. Sure pride will probably keep them in, but it isn’t set in stone.
On the SW they explained how Yoda knew. The jedi captured a acolyte a while back who revealed the rule of 2 lore to them but they weren't sure if to believe it or not. I can't remember the timeliness or who it was etc.. but it is a small part of cannon that explains it.
@@tammyevans6629 Which means not all of the Counsel believed the Sith went extinct a 1000 years ago. Yoda and Mace do look are each other in a meaningful was after the extinction claim and Mace adds something like they would have known if they had returned. I'm definitely in favor of the Jedi covering up the possibility of the Sith returning AND having Darth Smiley completely massacre anyone who even sees him for what he is.
Just spit balling, but I checked some Legends info and Sidious' master's master's master was unnamed and died in 125 BBY, which is right on the era The Acolyte is set on.

Question for Star Wars Explained. I noticed in the background that you have an art book for phase II of The High Republic. Where did you get it? I’ve looked it up and gotten no results.
I'm thrilled that we're moving out of the Skywalker saga. Don't get me wrong I love the Skywalker saga but it should've ended after VI. They can make other things but leaving the Skywalkers for an occasional cameo, there's a whole galaxy and billions of stories to tell. I hope the show is a whole story on its own without the need to force cameos or plot devices just to fill plot holes in another shows or movies.
The council might just be talking about the sith as a whole. Like there are jedi around during the empire and kenobi says they are extinct. It's not being ignorant. Its just seeing them as a whole I think
Ok the dark scene with the knife in the floorboards looks like the same set as the fight with Kerry Ann moss later. I really hope she is investigating the death that likely happened in the dark and that she isn’t the victim. I really really really hope they don’t just bring her in as a badass just to kill her off to try and make the villain look more dangerous
I'm hoping that this will help to reconcile one of the big contradictions introduced into the story by Lucas: the fact that there is a prophecy about a Chosen One who will bring balance to the Force by destroying the Sith when the Sith are supposedly extinct.
I get what you’re saying about them wanting to hide it, but there were still at least 3 Jedi alive at that time. Yoda, Yaddle and Oppo Rancisis. There probably is more, but would Yoda at 7 or 800 years in the order really not be privy to such information? Unless it just comes down to straight hubris
We are seeing when Sol finds Mae to have her join the jedi. We would need to see this scene for a reason. I feel if they are going the twin route then we could see them delving into the idea of the jedi becoming more selective with who they let join the order. Could be fun and they could show the scene from different perspectives to save the twin reveal for later episodes.

I wonder at the end that the Jedi have to get more political because whatever happens in the show will be so politically bad like it could end the Jedi right then that they need the chancellor to help cover it all up and in return they basically end up doing whatever the chancellor or the senate wants.
Sounds strange but I hope all the Jedi who see the “Sith” or red saber wielded die, so it makes sense why the council firmly believe the Sith are extinct in Phantom Menace
I hope it’s a new Sith, I’m bored of all the not Sith we see like Ventress savage Baylan shin Kylo ren snoke etc, don’t get me wrong some of those characters are great but I want a NEW Sith or at least a Sith we haven’t seen in visual media

Apparently Sith/Dark Siders wearing menacing black helmets/masks is a timeless classic.
In Legends it sure was. Revan, Malak, Nihilus, Malgus, Bane all had some sick helmets/masks.
You shouldn’t really count Malak because his doesn’t count as a mask it’s a prosthetic jaw after Revan cut it off

I wonder at the end that the Jedi have to get more political because whatever happens in the show will be so politically bad like it could end the Jedi right then that they need the chancellor to help cover it all up and in return they basically end up doing whatever the chancellor or the senate wants.
Alex, I've watched the timeline video twice.
Big question are we going to see a darth plagues in the show or is master
Sounds strange but I hope all the Jedi who see the “Sith” or red saber wielded die, so it makes sense why the council firmly believe the Sith are extinct in Phantom Menace
I really hope they bring the High Republic to animation
I mean young jedi adventures exists, but I get it, something along the lines of TCW and Bad Batch would be much more preferable.
I want to see the nameless
I hope you can take a break now Alex, absolutely doing great work this week!
I didn’t get an extended view of Acolyte at my theater when i went to see Phantom Menace ep 1. Not at all on Friday (5/3/24) very disappointing 😒😮💨😠
I hope it’s a new Sith, I’m bored of all the not Sith we see like Ventress savage Baylan shin Kylo ren snoke etc, don’t get me wrong some of those characters are great but I want a NEW Sith or at least a Sith we haven’t seen in visual media
i am truly looking forword to this show
06:55 or it gets covered up
I'm looking forward to the series, but the trailer didn't do that much for me.
believed that the jedi knew sith were around as otherwise why wiuld they be so focused on a prophecy about destroying the sith?
Hope dagan Gera turns up
He would already be in stasis at this point as he was in that bacta tank for approx 200 years before Cal finds him
