Cleaning Up A JUNK YARD | Part 1

  • One of the messiest farms to have ever existed. For years, Cornstar Farms has been known as the farm that has a ton of junk. Not any more. Last spring, before my Grandfather passed away, he gave me permission to start cleaning up our farm, which was a junk yard.
I was not going to come out with the video because the footage in this video is from when I first started cleaning up junk. The production quality is not what my videos are now, but I felt my audience needs to understand how far the farm has come the past two years.
Grab some popcorn, sit back, and relax. This video is action packed with time lapses and young Cole talking about what needed to be done to clean up the farm.
Cleaning up the junk yard will be a multi-part series. Be sure to subscribe to keep up with the action. Thank you for watching!

Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa who is the life force behind his family’s 1,700 acre farm. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad (Daddy Cornstar) and brother (Cooper) on the farm. With a lot of help from Daddy Cornstar, Cole instills humor and education into his videos fit for both children and adults. Despite being 21-years old, Cole has an old-fashion work ethic with an innovative approach toward agricultural technology and practices. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

Your grandfather had the mindset of his father , during the depression you did not throw anything out, back then everything was valuable and nobody could afford to go out and buy new equipment and materials and being a farmer you also have to be a ( mechanic ,welder, plumber, carpenter, electrician, pest control and God knows what else) , So having all that junk was beneficial .
Most people think farmers just hop into their combines and the farming gets done, but that is far from the truth.
If more people understood this there wouldn't be as many farms going under and lost to subdivisions.
Take care of it and it will feed you , and thousands more.
Nice job buddy. Looking forward to see what you do with the place.

Cole - I gotta say I've been watching "10th Generation Dairy Farmer" - and that kid (about your age) runs a pretty tight dairy farm. Watching this vid - makes me appreciate how you're trying to clean up your grandpas farm and make it reflect you. This vid is great - looking back and the huge task ahead of you; most people can't even keep their garages clean.... I'd say to you good luck - and keep working hard; it'll look good in a few seasons. Cyclone Power!

Farms are the lifeblood of America
Once you lose a farm to subdivisions and houses you never get that land back
Farms are part of our national security
    Support your local farms
they're good people they're hard workers and we need to keep open space for as long as we can
I moved to Pennsylvania back to where I grew up because I love the area and I love the farms and eating fresh corn and tomatoes and berries and peaches and watermelon and everything from the farm is so wonderful
nothing you can buy in the store comes close to fresh picked farm fruit and vegetables and chickens and eggs and pork and beef
It is truly a blessing to have farm fresh food
Just standing at the farm looking out over the corn makes me feel happy
In the early 2000s I drove by this farm nearby and there was an old farmer sitting out watching his corn grow
Nobody else understood but I understood
I have great respect for farmers
they took out twelve farms this year here in my town and are building million-dollar homes on those farms in subdivisions and it makes me cry
the town's want the farm's gone because they don't make any money from them they don't pay taxes nearly as much as a two million-dollar home pays
No one seems to care anymore about the farms and the farmers
I don't know what's happened to our country

I think as we grow older we realize more how much the dollar stretches (or doesn't) & natural wisdom comes to play. But each generation from the depression era this is seen less. We're more used to being able to get anything than used to having to picking fields for dandelions just to have a meal a day.

Whoa, what a LOT of work Cole !!! Farms do tend to pile up, but I must say, what you're doing to the farm is wonderful. It's a lot cleaner and functional for you. I'm so glad your Grampa told you to make it your own. A lot of farms don't change because people don't feel, in good conscience, they can change anything when the previous family member passes on. They feel, somehow, they're doing a disservice to the deceased loved one, and that they will be hurt by any changes. Your Grampa gave you the gift to make it your own. Great Grampa, great job Cole ♥️

Would love to visit your farm. My grandpa was from Indiana and his family were farmers. Always loved to visit up that way when I was younger. Thanks for sharing. 😎😎😎

The farm is looking GREAT! Glad to see you have the drive, ambition, and follow thru to get things done and that you have solid plans for the future. Keep up the good work. It was a bit sad to see that round brick structure come down(was that the corn crib you mentioned?) It was a cool building, but I'm sure you wouldn't have taken it down without a good reason. Keep us posted. Thanks! P.S.Still waiting for a guest appearance from Mama C. lol

I was sad to see it go too but it was truly worthless for storing anything.... just not big enough. I think it's main function was a raccoon hotel ! Lol
Just imagine Cole as a girl and u would see me ( poor kid looks just like his mother 😊)

Should have turned it into a B&B, always save original buildings & put them to use, very sad as it was so unusual

Over the years ive seen 2 or 3 family farms that made major transformations when the boys got old enough to take initiative and action. Just as you guys have done. Well done. Your efforts wont go unnoticed. Well done.

Impressed with your/family's motivation, organizational skills, work ethic. You're really making a difference in your farms. Wish I had a fraction of your energy! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your videos. I never really had an interest in farming, but watching your videos has given me a real appreciation of it.

    It's 3:22am and I'm on my 3rd video
Of yours. This one was 14.34 minutes long. And I missed what you were saying about the piles of dirt so I'm going to watch that part again. Watching this guy clean is somehow satisfying.
    Thanks
