AT on train is Atkinson Topeka IIR. Enjoyed the trip...thanks for taking us along. Hugs to Jax Man. That was the railroad water tower so they could get water for the locomotive. They were all up and down the tracks at various depots for getting water.
I absolutely love the fact that you took us a long so we could see the different aspects of the Homestead. A lot of work goes into it!! Girl you rock it !!
That wooden tank was used with a STEAM ENGINE. I know you're not a railroad buff, but steam engines need to be refilled with water. These tanks were located along every rail line at intervals for train stops and services. Usually at station stops in towns, but in the midwest and other places they could in the middle of nowhere. They needed water according to the miles traveled. Steam engines used wood first, then coal, and finally used fuel oil to burn in the firebox to make the heat to boil the water to make steam. I'm sure you know some of this, but just a review. Trains and railroading is very interesting. If you haven't riden a steam engine powered train, you should try it. If you have never traveled by train, it would be a great experience. Safe travels. Oh, toucan ride a steam train at some of the amusement parks such as Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and Knott's Berry Farm in Calif. and a new Train in Gettysburg, PA . Actually it's near Gettysburg at New Freedom, PA. Safe travels ! Say "Hi" to Jax !
I can't control that kind of stuff on my end actually. Sometimes you won't see ads all month. Then next month my video has ads half way though. It's the ONLY way I can make any money and pay my bills, keep gas in the tank, and pay for the places I share. So, I hope we can find a compromise.
Speaking on behalf of the truck driver, he may have had to stop because Federal regulations may have required him to. We are required to take at least 1/2 hour break per day. Or perhaps he had to use the restroom. It's not easy for truckers to get their rigs in and out of places like RVS and cars of much smaller sizes. So when the opportunity arises for a pit stop, most of us will grab that opportunity.
Federal regulations still means he can park 300 feet ahead in the designated "truck parking" instead of the posted "RV parking only" section while the semi front blocks part of the road..... If Professional drivers can read, they should be able to be less of an a-hole. You don't have to pay a lot - you just gotta pay attention.
Loved this video. I'm going to have to check out some of Colorado's towns that are off the interstate. I'm just getting used to that. Thanks for a fun video.
Thanks for showing everyone that a class a can boondock! We have a 17 newmar Dutchstar dp and we do it whenever we get a chance:) There really hasnt been anywhere we havent found a spot

And I don't intend on saying "all truckers"... that's why I just point out the hilariousness of what "some" truckers do in regards to RVs. I treat you all with respect and give you the road. Give you the parking spaces too. I didn't go mock the guy and ask him why he can't read.... I just shared his actions because (unfortunately) this is becoming commonplace. But thank you for reminding me that not all truckers are the same!
Thanks for replying to me I’ve been watching you for a good while already I almost never comment but I do really enjoy your videos thanks for all you do hoping to do the same thing one day get an RV and have an awesome life
Keep being you brother, Have been watching your videos since you first started. You are a great inspiration Eric. Will be supporting forever and always learning from you as well.
Another high quality video!!! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Also, the water tower was used back in the day to fill up the steam engines with water, but I'm guessing you found that out while you were there, haha. Keep those wheels and reels turnin'!!!
That is a railroad water tower. It is used to fill the tender's water tank in as short a time as possible. Don't want to delay the train. There were once many of these on every train line. Steam trains use as much or more water than fuel.
I lived in SW Kansas a few miles from where you filmed the last few days. We always went to the towns East of Johnson when we needed a bigger town. I think I really missed out on some interesting places. Thanks for the tour!
Good ol' Lamar, Colorado!...a truck driver's nightmare for some...the weigh station. Fortunately, I never had any problems going through there the 38 years I drove a truck. IMO, Colorado has the nicest, and, most lenient DOT officers in the country. As for the dump system on your rig: it's pretty cool having that swing out hose container...but!...what good is a tank flush if you don't know if your tank is actually clean? Wouldn't it be a good idea to get one of those clear plastic downspout fittings to go on the end of your house so you'll know for sure? JUST SAYIN'! Great video and photography as always, Eric. Cleaning up bullet casings can be a profitable hobby as yellow brass is currently around $1.20 per pound at a scrap yard. Eric I had a catalytic heater in one of my motor homes, loved it I had it mounted to the back of the seat on the dinette set. You really should use a separate hose for the sewer flush, other than the water fill hose.

As always, loved seeing the two guys. It so much fun being with you. Keep having fun. 😻❤️🤗
Eric, I am 60 years old , but in Colorado you have to stop at the " Pot Store " ....Just saying...lol. Have a great day Eric, love your videos.
Eric I had a catalytic heater in one of my motor homes, loved it I had it mounted to the back of the seat on the dinette set. You really should use a separate hose for the sewer flush, other than the water fill hose.
Eric, Glad you weren’t hit by those severe storms out in Kansas! Happy travels in Colorado😊
Need to see more Jax. Love him ❤️♥️♥️♥️
Nomadic Fanatic..Doing the “impossible” almost every day. 😁 Safe travels Eric! Thank you!👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Hello. I can see you are loving your new Class A. Really good solar setup!!! I have an old class A (1987) been working on it for some time now, and will get back on the road soon. New tires, brakes, and paint. Then off to the races. Have fun, be safe and enjoy yourself. Bye now.
The big water tank is to supply water for a STEAM locomotive. They use lots of water.
Oh duh. I should have figured that! Thanks.
Cars were likely dumped. There are many in a particular river in bryson city, nc and locals took advantage of some to bank along rivers for support. You can easily see them driving along a busy road.
Nope, the Arkansas River drains east of the Continental Divide while the Colorado drains the west side.
I love the way your units dumps they should all be like. I also avoid rest stops nothing but rude people and truckers that love to dump shit all over the parking lot.
Yes, my adopted home state...I'd recognize Highway 50 anywhere! Look at those blue skies.
Update video on how to find boondocking spots in a class a. Free shells would be great to reload on the cheap.
Except those shells looked pretty much trashed.
Have u ever seen Royal Gorge near Canon City? Highest suspension bridge. About 50 miles to west past I-25 on Hwy 50.
No, didn't know that! I'll have to add it to a future stop. Thanks.
Miranda has a cool black tank disposal system! I’ve not seen one like that before.
