- Bear & Son... as well as Bear Ops (borderline the same thing) are known for having questionable quality. Yet I've wanted to get my hands on this particular knife for the better part of a decade now.
Was it worth the wait?

*Notes*
1. After uploading the video I had searched up the knife again with it's model number. Oddly enough it DOES show on the bear & son website but for some reason it only shows up if you type “bear & son cb17” into google's search bar. It does not show up anywhere on their regular site when you click on balisongs. I have no idea why that happens but it is very weird.
2. I completely forgot to point out in the section where I flip the knife that I am on medications that control and suppress my immune system so if I do end up cutting myself there's a lower chance of me having another flare up. Also yes I do have a cut on my finger, this is from my job as a florist and me slipping with my blade when I was cutting stems of roses. It happens...
3. I stated in the video about how the reliability issues are plagued in this company in regards to balisong knives. Which is evident when you do search for their knives on websites. Often you come across annoyed customers complaining about various issues. One of which is how the knife falls apart while flipping. That I can't 100% blame the company for. While I doubt they ever use any sort of threadlocker on their screws, I am of the belief that the user should inspect the screws every so often so this sort of thing does not happen. I threadlock most my balisongs before flipping. However I did not do that for this knife to see if it did fall apart on it's own with moderate use. In which case it did not so I guess i'm one of the lucky ones here. You're mileage will vary.

How is the balance for fans? I'm trying to weigh out if I want the heavier g-10 version or the wood one. (I figure the g-10 would be just a bit heavier in the handles)
There are other variations of this knife than just the wood, they have different model numbers though. They make stag handles, bone handles, and also G10 handles
I mean different color variations of the same red cocobolo.
If you plan to review games again, maybe take a look at rather Kingdoms Of Amelur Rekoning or Brutal Legend on Xbox 360?
One is a UNDER-RATED Metal hack and slash with Jack Black, Ozzy Osbourne and musicians being there voices of characters
The other is another under-rated Hack and Slash mixing RPG elements and the creator of Spawn and Elder Scrolls being in the mix!
Came here looking for knife reviews to buy my first balisong. Leaving happy someone else knows the greatness of Brutal Legend, one of my favorite games of all time.
Owned one of these back in the day talking 2016 Era. Before the Zen pin update and new materials updated on it. From what I remember the middle pin was shitty and the coating on the blade was cheap and scraped off easy. And one handle was smoother/looser than the other once I did break it in...not gonna lie quality control ain't the best but it is a decent flipper/starter butterfly knife. If I wanted something more...battle friendly and edc..buy a Kershaw Lucha.
The only thing i notice from this model compared to the one you had is the coating on the blade is pretty crap. Otherwise it seems perfectly sound. Kershaw Lucha is a definite better balisong for sure.
What would you say is the best Butterfly Knife you can buy?
