got this as well, didn't much research until now (2 months or so after the purchase). Some of the reviews I came across called it utter garbage, other's had no issue with it.
Its my first balisong and it feels a tad heavier than expected, the latch is a minor nuisance too. but overall i'm quite satisfied with it.

@@pyrexfr I don't flip it on a regular basis, and I haven't taught myself anything other than a basic open. as I said above the latch is a minor nuisance as it just kinda dangles when flipping. There is a lil bump thing that is inbetween the tangs, but only on the bottom side, when the knife is open, due to frequent flipping the paint on the handle starts to chip relative to where the bump hits them. Isn't terribly noticeable as even when the knife is closed the tangs kinda hide it. I haven't experienced any sort of stiffness either

I just got one from blade hq and it's made different. The spines black and the handles are longer so the latch doesn't even hit anything.. so awesome. I don't see anything ever going wrong with it as long as I don't let the pins pop out but I think there screws now.

This is my first real butterfly knife , all the other ones I had was cheap and hard to find so you don't care much about quality you just aprectaite even having one. I remember my dad gave me a black one when I was 17-18 I didn't like the all black but i couldn't complain. It's like having a black ninja star.

UPDATE the handles just came off along with a bunch of tiny pieces that I don't know where they go. I just put everything in a bag... so sad.

Got one coming in mail, I like the white handles with the black blade, I heard they have some issues with the handles breaking but for less than 50bucks it’s probably better than the Chinese flea market ones with those pot metal handles that are like $15, went through two of those ones, not bad for ten dollars tho but I am looking forward to the bear and sons knife

@@pyrexfr it’s not the best flipper, the tang pins are making dents in the handle, I went in arena accessories and got there budget butterfly knife www.arenaaccessories.com/Beginner-Budget-Friendly-Balisong-Butterfly-Knife-with-Grippy-Handle-Scales-Skeleton-Frame-_p_1055.html, it’s way better and has screws so you can take the whole knife apart, it’s 30 bucks and a better knife than bear and sons

I’ve had this knife for one day, the paint is already coming off, the pins are very loose, and it came with several dints in it. I’m always careful with my knives and handle them properly. I am very disappointed with this knife.

did you have any problems when you first opened it? I bought the trainer version and it was very stiff and the blade wasn’t even centered when it’s all the way open.

Hi great video ! I bought a trainer version of this knife .. and I was just wondering if there is any way I can tighten the handles . I’ve been flipping it for like 5 days and the balance is already way off and it’s affecting the way it flips

    • @patheticpangolin9555

The knife uses pins instead of screws, how I tightened it was by lightly hitting them with a hammer and that did the trick.

@@patheticpangolin9555 thank you! i ended up just grabbing a pair of pliers and squeezing the pins together :)

I’m thinking of getting the 115BTR trainer on knifecenter as my first knife but there’s no review of it on the website or any videos made about the knife on UA-cam either. I’m wondering if it’s just another variation of the one in the video and if it’s a good choice for a beginner to start with bear and sons.

As a beginner I think that's a really good choice but be prepared to have some of the problems that I talked about in my other video.

I know it's been a year I've basically abandoned this channel but yeah it's working really well. Despite the obvious flaws it's held up very nicely, and built extremely tough

How do I take the latch off

    • @patheticpangolin9555
      @patheticpangolin9555  2 роки тому +1

Literally, and I'm not even kidding. I used a hand saw and cut it off. Just stuck it in a clamp vise and went to town with a hand saw. But do be aware depending on which vice you use you'll probably chip the paint

Take off the latch, the only way.
