    One of my old players asked why anyone would play this subclass. I told him to think of it as high Chaos Corvo from Dishonored. A couple months later, he said it was his favorite subclass

    Good commentary--always glad to have something to spark my creativity with this class. I jotted down ideas for how to use the mage hand to set up quick traps: pull a trip rope taut (could set up the trip rope,too, for that matter), tip a board or a pile of stuff onto an opponent, or an invisibile mage hand holding a lit candle in mid-air (or a flaming something-or-other) to draw attention from where someone is hiding/etc. So much potential with this class and that spell--plus the minor illusion and the silent image spells that can interact with mage hand (so sometimes the mage hand tips a pile of boards onto an opponent, but sometimes the pile of boards is an illusion that gives cover, or sometimes the illusion appears as a mage hand while the real mage hand is somewhere else/doing something else). A practiced stage magician would probably have SO many good ideas for how to use this.
    At any rate--thanks and I look forward to more of your videos.

    If you have a tank or a front liner or a melee person trying to focus fire you can help them by getting sneak attack since they are within 5 feet so that you can use haste to attack twice a round (also sneak attack twice a round)

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 роки тому +1

      Sneak attack can only be done once per turn. So if you have haste on it’s only going to trigger once even if you attack twice
      Same thing if you action surge

    • @kirbo1248
      @kirbo1248 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheSinisterheroes you use hasted action then you ready your regular attack action for when the next person or your tank attacks (so its not on the same turn just same round)

    The character concept for this video I had difficulty deciding on the race but I think I have one now ok so imagine a fairy arcane trickster named April Foolery who is more of a prankster than anything else and is a criminal for hire type person who sells her skills to the highest bidder and often gets into trouble with both the law and her employers because of her "pranks" that she does during her work and while she is very talented at what she does like stealing, assassination, blackmailing etc she doesn't have many friends and a lot of enemies from numerous people both Law enforcement and criminal alike and while she does do what is required of her it's never exactly what her employers want and it can lead to more problems for the employers than it solves in the end and at the crime sites she always either says to a surviver "you've been April fooled" or leaves it in big noticable easy to read writing in some way I believe this embodies what me and sin view the fey perfectly

    Having a broad range of conditions to impose is also important. Given how few spells known they get, it's a good idea to not overspecialize in a single condition. The more conditions you can dish out, the better! Then round them out with the likes of _slow_ and/or _bestow curse_ since nothing is completely immune to those.
    That said, I'm inclined to grab _haste_ to help pump up my damage, just for those instances when an enemy simply can't be fooled. Presuming Crossbow Expert isn't changed in "One D&D," you can _haste_ yourself without missing much damage at all.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 роки тому +1

      It’s tough because you have to stick with in the schools for most of your spell selection. Considering con save proficiencies and high ac and high con of a fighter, you can feel very comfortable.
      I am just not that impressed with crossbow expert. I understand its function but I just always feel your weapon says a lot about who you are, and I just don’t make characters that use crossbows or bows at all really. Lol almost everything I make is melee.

    How do you feel about a Harengon arcane trickster for flavor? I love all your videos btw

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  8 місяців тому

      Thank you for the support!!.
      I think a harengon works really well cus of their fae ancestry. They have that tie to the magic of the fae, which is more enchantment and illusion, which is a huge portion of the arcane trickster’s spell list. The combination works in a heavy lore game extremely well. It’s a great combination. The only issue you may encounter is the over lap of rabbit hop and cunning action. Which is simple in dire situations use hop every other time cunning action will work well. Which in fact is great to guarantee that you get regular practice with cunning action.
      Also keep in mind that the most important thing about a character, is that you want to play as that character. The character you make should be exciting for you. That comes from the work you put into your character.

    I think it would be funner to go with Wizard (especially Illusionist) after lv 3.
    Slower Spell lv progression (compared to other Wizs), Ability Score and weaker Sneak attack sucks, but get more EVIL spells like Invisibility, Immobile Object (can be much more EVIL than Seank Attack), or Rope Trick out of it

  • @Trial88
    @Trial88 2 роки тому +1

    At 20th level the arcane trickster 17 wizard 3 would be an 8th level caster. So 4th level spells are still your highest. Not exactly the best haha

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 роки тому

      It just dosent work the way it is. I’d opt that you can cast the spell . That’s it you can cast it no matter what it is without a component or anything as you steal it literally from the air. But you have to use it next turn. Otherwise it is cast directly on you.

    • @Trial88
      @Trial88 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheSinisterheroes if it were like that I’d allow it pb times per long rest. It’s really not a great ability though. If they got this earlier it would be good, but because of the supremely low level of spells they can cast it just doesn’t work at 17th level when you’re facing things like forcecage and prismatic wall

    • @TheSinisterheroes

    Spell thief gets a bad rap because you can only steal a spell if you're the target. RAW, limited. RAF, epic.
    Combine Spell Thief with Portant gaurantees you steal a spell, negating its effect and damage on you.

    • @TheSinisterheroes

      @@TheSinisterheroes Alternatively, in a pinch, if you're still stocked up on Spell Slots and your casters or healer burnt through most of theirs, your ally can target you with spell(s) and lend you their spell for 8 hours. Trait spells that are once per day and can target you are good to borrow too.

      you are a very clever player, thats a really good thing to use in a pinch as you said, i do worry about you failing to steal it , its a risk but what can i say , we are here for a good time not a long time!!!
