    Great video. I'm doing this for the first time. Always been very anxious if that's the right word to use about doing work on my bike myself. Your video helps a lot man. Respect from Belfast 👍🏻 ride safe everyone 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    Any rider can and should be able to change their oil/filter but the best part is the small precautions you mentioned; watching out for hot exhaust pipes, news paper on the floor, foil to avoid oil from spilling on the exhaust pipe etc... GREAT VIDEO - THANK YOU!

    Did oil on my 04, and due oil cooler in front of the filter, space is far more limited. I did the same thing, covered pipes with tin foil, and blissfully kept pipes clean. Only one thing to say, oil filter is very important bit to the life of your engine so always use OEM filter. They're made by Denso and are of very high quality. Do not bother with K&N or any other brand. They're likely cheaped out pieces of shit. OEM's may even be cheaper than the Walmart crap, but most importantly, you'll know your engine gets the protection it needs.

    I don't know if I'm wrong but I do think that new filter should first be filled oil before install. But nice video anyway ,thanks for sharing.

      You can do it that way but you may spill oil but it'll work

    Good video thank you. Two questions. Where did you get that rear hugger? And I noticed near the end you had a red blinking light with an oil can flashing. Mine does that as well. Is that normal?

    • @dmckimmey1
      @dmckimmey1  4 роки тому

      I picked it up from a buddy whip had his motorcycle stolen. That's just the low oil pressure indicator, normal.

    Hey hows it going great video quick question where or what does that yellow or tan hose with the cap on it go to? Mine came off and I can’t figure out where to hook it back up to? Thanks

    • @dmckimmey1
      @dmckimmey1  4 роки тому

      That's the over flow drain tube from the fuel tank. Helps keep it from dripping all over the motorcycle.

    Hey Bro. question I know this is off topic. But have you ever changed your end cap for your handles ? I looked for ones that have the same width and diameter with screw ons but have had no luck. ones I see aren't screw on like they dont have the grooves to screw on. They might be 22mm or 7/8 which i think is the size but no luck finding screw ons.

      Dam almost a year late... no I haven't tried to remove them or change them

    U don't tighten the new oil filter ? Just by hand and tgats it ?

    • @dangerousd3203
      @dangerousd3203 2 роки тому

      Sorry for the late reply but hand tight is right. You put a little coat of oil around the rubber seal and that'll seal it enough. Tighten it on with a tool and the next time you go to change, you will curse your self out and most likely need help getting it off

      @@dmckimmey1 just got done my oil change and my bike is running very hot 200-210*F. This got me thinking is She’ll Rotella T6 15W-40 ok? The forums said yes but now I’m skeptical

    • @dmckimmey1
      @dmckimmey1  2 роки тому

      @@Thumperwrestler That stuff comes up as desiel motor oil. I only put motorcycle oil in mine. I used Valvoline 4-Stroke Motorcycle Full Synthetic SAE 10W-40 Motor Oil that 15w maybe to thick which will not move through the motor and oil cooler like with the 10w. These machines are very particular about the products you put in and on them. It could also be a separate issue altogether which would involve the cooling system... thermostat stuck partially closed.

      @@dmckimmey1 would the higher viscosity oil affect the thermostat switch? It’s about 50-100*F here in Philly.

      @dmckimmey1  8 років тому

      no her bike was completely stock the tires that are on it are the original tires when she bought it brand new. they do look a little bit bigger but they are much smaller than even mine on my ZX10R

    oil change every 1000 miles?! 300 miles?! LMAO WTF. Who told you to do that? Bro, use full synthetic and change every 4000-5000 miles. Ill easily ride 600 miles in a day road trip on my zx10r. That would mean I would have to stop mid trip to do an oil change. And thats just one way, then again on the way back! Haha, that's crazy bro. Even 1000 mile oil changes are ridiculous. I guess y'all don't "really" ride your bikes. OR maybe you misspoke and or I might've missunderstood you. But I'm pretty sure I heard you right. I'm dumbfounded that guys are changing their oil that regularly.

    • @dmckimmey1
      @dmckimmey1  5 років тому

      Highway miles are always better city miles. So having my rides mostly in the city I'll change it more often. I do have an issue with not using my bike for more than a month and the fluids main oil and fuel going bad so I'll change the oil more often.
