Like the bodybuilding greats before him, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno, Mike holds 4 Mr. Universe titles and was voted one of the 12 greatest physiques of all time by the fitness industry.
Background in natural bodybuilding, strongman, power lifting, and mixed martial arts.
4 Mr. (Natural) Universe, Mr. California, Mr. USA, Mr. American and Mr. International. He is also a 4-time Power Lifting Champion, and 2-time Iron Warrior: Decathlon of Strength Strongman Champion, 2 Time California Judo Champion.
He is also the creator of Power-Bodybuilding a style of training and the principles he uses to achieve the longevity and success in his physique, and in the health and fitness industry.
Mike always brings out the reverse grip bench press warm up for all his guests!! 😊
yes cuz he knows many of them would smoke him in normal bench
The reverse grip bench worked great for me when I was training at a gym with a spotter and I had an upper bicep/ shoulder/ rotator cuff injured areas! Worked better for me when I couldn't do forward close grip presses.
@@bobbenbrown123 I'ma try this, never thought of it or seen it👍🏼
@@TÜRK_ALP yeah dude if you have an injury like I had in the past with the upper bicep rotator cuff area I would DEFINITELY suggest doing it reverse bcuz of the angle is safer than the regular version. Make sure you do it WITH A SPOTTER/ PARTNER! Bcuz when you get to heavier weights you CANT LIFT THE WEIGHT OFF AND PUT IT BACK ONTO THE RACK SAFELY! Very dangerous 😳
@@bobbenbrown123 I've had elbow injury before, first I thought it was some kind of tricep exercise 😅
I'll try it out today with spotter, thanks for that much appreciated 👍🏼
Two of the most natural bodybuilders of all time.
🤣🤣
Hilarious
😅😂😂😂
🤦🤦🤦🤦
🤦🤦🤦🤦
so good to see two athletes sharing their knowledge from over the years of experience.. some of my favourite athletes to hear their discussion and details
Heath has won Mr Olympia multiple times, yet Mike looks like a god next to him and is 50+ years old.
Say what you want but Mike deserves his flowers whilst he is alive; the internet has got soo use to trolling him and this is causing many to ignore the sheer brilliance and longevity of his craft.
One Phil Heath is about as small in this video as I’ve ever seen him, clearly off-season for him right now as far as his stack is concerned. Second Mike is way taller and bigger framed than Phil from the start so he naturally looks big when standing next to him. Third if Phil was juiced up trained up and ready on stage he would not only destroy Mike, he would destroy basically everyone walking the planet right now, save for maybe a half dozen elite individuals.
Lastly and most importantly Mike ohearn trolls himself. To ask the public to accept his methods as superior, and solely superior without the use of steroids, is a farce and an embarrassment. If he were honest he would garner much more public respect.
Lol damn yoh...guns blazing. Truth though😁😁😁😉😉
@@Fettman07 I am aware that Heath is clearly off his cycle, but the point I'm making is that Mike literally looks incredible 24/7, 365 days a year, for decades and he is bloody approaching 60. That deserves undying appreciation.
Also, I guess it's just preference but the Mr Olympia at the heavier categories look awful. Men's classic physique is more aesthetically appealing imo, them other dudes look like juiced up water buffalos.
Lmao phil muscles are so much more dense and full .. mike is just taller lol
Flowers to Mike. Haters gone hate. They appreciate each other but y’all can’t. That doesn’t even make sense
One thing both Phil and Mike have in common is Mind Muscle Connection, just like Phil stated in the video. If don't feel the muscles contracting, you aren't going to see much gains. Sure you will get a little pump, but you aren't going to grow much muscle.
@Joe Jam 🤣🙈
Very good connection with the seringe
Mind muscle connection is HUGE, rookie lifters have to learn this and have no clue what it is until they finally 'get it'
Mind/muscle connection is overrated. It’s translation for bro science. The key is understanding body mechanics. There are many exercises out there that are supposedly for a targeted muscle and in fact are not and are for another muscle. The worst person to get sound advice for exercises are juiced up bodybuilders. The drugs make their physique. It’s not what they are doing.
@@Iceman-xe7jo completely disagree. as a natural lifter mind muscle connection is everything to grow. When a person is on gear it might not matter so much because they can grow muscle lifting anything. When you’re in the gym long enough you’ll realize most ppl on gear half ass their workouts and still see progress.
Ok where's part II, the rest of the workout? Please give us more, we appreciate it & we love to see it.
Swear this is so short
What amazes me when I watch these vids is the people in the background , working out so wrong every video, and why aren't they watching and learning proper form and trying to soak up as much knowledge as they can from these guys .... I never really bought in to mind muscle connection until I made a real effort to focus on it , I started to notice real upper chest growth and overall detail when I really focused , again Mike's videos ...... awesome
💯💯
1 word, ego.
What amazes me is a 50+ year old guy doing flat bench sets of 405 reverse grip totally natural!
@@OrangeDiamond33 😂😂😂😂
This is so true what heath said about someone benching 300+ pounds with a suckish chest or someone that can squat 500 plus with a average at best legs. I don't want to be like them.
@Tomáš Cerman ??? What
@@Str8Rippin93W
How much more knowledge can one ask for in one video? Simply Awesome! And how cool is it to get this candid footage of two legends. Thank you Phil and Mike!

Phils an icon,,, great advice for younger generations, and oldies, from both these MASTERS,,,
Mike O'Hearn is my most favourite natural Bodybuilder
LETS GO! No SNOWFLAKES!!! Let’s get ittttt
❄️
I liked what was said here with Phil Heath! Making tons of sense when it comes to paying attention to detail because that is what bodybuilding is, etc! Thanks for the awesome video Mike and hope to see more vids with great people! GAINZ!
Two absolute beasts. Couldn't think of many people better to get advice from on body building.
Yes and no, maybe not best idea for your average Joe Schmo to take advice from an all time genetic freak like Phil Heath. Certainly not saying I know as much about bodybuilding as Phil Heath, but the type of training he does (Hammer Strength, Cables, etc) has done little to nothing for me. Take triceps- triceps rope does very little for me, whereas my triceps grow significantly from heavy compound lifts, without even doing ‘arms’.
@@zalapski9399 I guess everyone's body is different and u gotta find what works best for you.
I've noticed young guys watch me when I lift light and slow but rocking the biggest pump in the gym. It's hilarious. I just look around while doing 30lb cable pushdowns. Thanks Heath and Mike. Only started to grow when I slowed it down with light weight.
2:25 supreme strength . you know youre really strong when you control crazy weight and have perfect form on a tricky lift
More like decades of adaptation to this specific lift. Mike's been doing this lift for a long time.
Does not get better, these masters together. Mike warms up with a weight I've only ever dreamed of lifting!
Hey that’s me at :39 lol. Appreciate the tips from Phil, it was an amazing experience to meet you both
Its crazy how narrow phils frame is compared to a lot of the olympia competitors but his muscle bellies and definition are absolutely out of this world. His arm development is absolutely off the charts
Mike I just did your one arm inclined single dumbbell press you did a couple of vids back, and it felt great. Had to go a little lighter than I normally do to stay balanced on the bench, but I was able to use my other hand to feel the chest that was being activated. Gives way better mind muscle connection.
Nice
Same here, how good is it 👍🏼👍🏼
@@TÜRK_ALP it was badass. Allowed me to feel exactly when the muscle was fully contracted. I realized locking out didn't do much it's right before lockout that it's contracting the most.
Just been doing some tricep rope extensions the way Phil was doing them just using the fingers. Insane pump in the triceps with not much weight. 👍
Hearn immediately psyching out everyone with reverse grip 4 plates 🤣
7× mr Olympia is not joke ..
Respect Phil heath 🙏🙏🙏
🤞
So much tren in one pic!! I fucking love it 💪💪💪
To this day!
MIKE IS NATURAL
"That's how I warm up." 😂😂😂😂😂😂
These guys are getting shredded! Some great motivation.
*mike was real quiet with phil. not like him and jay cutler, teaching jay how to work out. i guess 7 > 4.*
Lol because Jay cutler is actually humble and isn't a douche bag. Thats why
well, Jay had to dethrone ronnie, and most of his good years if it wasnt for Ronnie he would have won at least other 4, the lucky part on pryme Phil ws that he only had to compete against pryme Cutler a few times not 6 years like Jay with Ronnie
@@d_classified6433 I couldn’t agree more.
@@d_classified6433 *no cuz hes white. nd mikey is scare of black ppl.*
@@NatanaelGarcia he dethroned no one.... ronnie dethroned himself..
Jay cutlers OWN WORDS!!
I think Phil's triceps extension makes a lot of sense for him and anyone else who pays attention to the connection.
Always respect Mike and belief in what he is doing . Watching this I have a new respect for Phil . 🤓Thank you .
Mike & Phil are bodybuilding gurus. Bodybuilding is all about mind & body connection. When you watch them train you can see them enter a “flow state”. Their motions are very smooth and rhythmic. You will see similarities when watching other top bodybuilders like Lee Priest training arms, Kevin Levrone doing cable crossovers. These guys are on a different frequency when they train.
Roids and genetics nothing more nothing less
TWO LEGENDS!!!! The Gift and the Titan!!💪💪💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥
Phil’s Arms are World Class. Trap to Wrist🤛🏼.
What creatine does Phil Heath recommend?
Glad to see Phil and Mike working 💪 together.. I liked how Phil explain the overhead bic's exercise...
Thank you Phil and Mike.
Pt II .
i wanna continue learning The Gift explanation in each damn exercise.
much appreciated
Great video! Good advice! At 8:48 note the kid on the lat machine with t h e mag bar attachment, he's rocking back and forth ,not doing anything for the lats or back muscles ,his 📱 got more of a workout than the mag bar! 🤦♂️😆
That's why I have not seen Phil on the Pmd podcast on youtube lately I thought he was going to join the team and get on the payroll but he was just a temporary fill in cus he is here at the Gym busting his ass at the gym 👊🏼💪🏼
“Block em… there’re idiots!” 😂
When I was young I lifted a heavy as possible and got huge but didn't develop many muscles correctly. Phil's right, it's in the details. I wound up 365lbs obese as heck. I'm down to 230lbs on my way to 190. And this time I'm paying attention to the details.
You got obese because you ate too much not because of the heaviness of your lifts
When I got to 265lbs 15% fat it was from lifting heavy. When I got obese it was from eating too much. Two different time frames.
mike is like a mix tape hype man. Always with the "repeat that", "pay attention", "do you see what he's doing"
Its unbearably cringy. The frank zane video hes just released is one of the worst for it
.. he’s unbearable… no clue how Mona deals with him..
For a guy in his 50s mike’s physique is ridiculous. I’m 24 and would love to look like that

Mike you are just the smartest BB i know with your overwhelming knowledge about so much. Did you got made that bench bar with moving grips by yourself. I never saw that before. Just amazing 😎👍🏻🍀
Amusing watching Mike o’Hearns “Fake news it” like he belongs in Phil Heath’s stratosphere 😂
8:42 young bro in the back instantly starts swinging the pull downs after Phil just finished talking about mind muscle connection lol
Phil Heath is the man! To listen to one of the best of all time is rewarding. 💪mrwtby
This is the best of both worlds 🌎, power and purpose !! The flexibility ,mobility is vital for growth and function. 💪🏽👊🏽
Phil’s Arms are the World Class
Reverse grip benching 405 for reps 💪🏻
No doubt very very impressive but I dont think Mike is really listening to Phil. For all the weight Mike uses why isnt his arms larger than Phils'? I think Mike has some freaky strength but why doesnt he look larger? I know some of it is genetic but I think some of it is his approach. I feel deep inside he thinks like a powerlifter and probably always will. Phil doesnt not think like a powerlifter or not much were Mike does. I feel Mike really doesnt practice what Phil is preaching.

You can see the "great genetics" of Phil. He's obviously not on much gear, he's down sized. But those "muscle bellies" and small joints are certainly there. Holy shit. He'd look great even if he did all body workouts a few says a week. Genetics, genetics, genetics. It's means EVERYTHING in BBing.
yeah look at his photos from his basketball days. great genetics
Mike is the man, its unreal how strong that mother ...r is lol, so much knowledge from him as well , great to have phil on
The weight that I never have and probably never will left in my life, is the same weight that Mike is warming up with 🤦🏽 Great collaboration
lee lunk that was my point! I’m being sarcastic
4 Plates reverse grip is a warm up? FML, Mike O'Hearn is from outer space!
Amazing bro
I like having the strength more than looking strong. It matters more that you can lift the weight rather than looking like you can lift the weight. If a person is trapped under a car or something heavy, and two guys are there to help. One buff looking guy who can't lift it or a not so buff guy who can lift it. The strength will save your life more than the looks apart.
Matters more to you. Aesthetics will matter everyday, and will affect your self confidence and a host of other things. If you're training for the imaginary day you need to lift a car then I honestly feel sort of bad for you.
@@RR42636 well if you're just thinking about looks to boost your self confidence than you need more than weight training and sounds more like a mental problem. Not ssaying you have to be normal looking compared to shredded guys but I'm saying focusing on strength instead of looking aesthetily is what might save you more. Don't try to judge on the car example. Just gave one silly example with the car lifting part so don't limit your brain to just that one example. I can give out another situation but I don't think it will make a difference for you. The idea went way over tour head.
Nice workout 🤘🏽💙
