It's not cheating if everyone else is doing it, you literally can't compete in bodybuilding without it
I agree. Especially on a pro level.
@@lbmusclepiers knows nothing about the sport
There are some, who' would consider a person on steroids a mentally weak person, because they do not possess the mental toughness to accept their body's natural limitations and are willing to accept the health consequences (sometimes fatal) that are. caused by steroid use. Is that strength or health? Doesn't the human Body always want to return to its natural, healthyl state? I personally have no opinion on the matter, Just raising a question.
@@NattyHub As a bodybuilder you'll never reach the very top without steroids so it not about mental toughness it's about "Do I want to be the best at this?" If the answer is yes, a bodybuilder has no choice but to take steroids. Coleman did, Yates did, Cutler did etc etc.
@@untilyoupuke Piers was an arm wrestling champion before becoming a journalist
He didn't say he cheated. He said he used steroids in an arena that everyone is using them in. You wouldn't even be able become an IFBB pro unless you're enhanced.
Why becoming pro in the first place
To show off like a dummy
@@iutiopxxWhy people do anything with passion: to feel alive and have a purpose in life. If you also have natural talet to your interest and you are lucky enough to make it your job then I'd say it's an obvious choise to do it. I really appreciate Piers Morgan for having a mature and entertaining interview with a Bodybuilder. Too often you see Bodybuilders interviewed on a mainstream platform, only to be asked juvenile questions and essentially "mocked" for how they look with little effort and time made to look at the individuals intelligence overall.
Completely agree mate , I mean I know they had the arm wrestle but something like that is normally the entire basis of the interview…”hey do ya think you could crush this watermelon?!”
It's not cheating in his situation, it's leveling the playing field because he competes against the best in the world
Piers did say that if everyone's using it, it's not cheating, so in regard to Phil and the Olympia I think he acknowledged that point.
Exactly. There isn’t a single guy competing at that level who isn’t taking steroids. It can be done safely if you have the right medical advice and plan.
@1972dsrai it can be done safer, not safely
There is no safe way to run tren or anadrol, and at this level they are definitely on both of those things
Just makes me sad they are called ‘the best’. But as an all natural bodybuilder for 21 years perhaps I’m just jealous for not getting any praise 😅
Not sure about that.. some people respond more to those things than others due to having more androgen receptors. In the end of the day though genetics trumps everything else.
Never realised what a great person Phil is. What a possitive example for the community
Agree. What a great guy. Piers gives a platform to some impressive folks. And he has stopped interrupting all the time. He now listens and engages in a thoughtful manner.
why?😅

Is anyone's body really "Built", or is it only temporarily enhanced and goes back into its original state once the stimulation stops? I personally don't know! Just asking a question.🤔
Phil was great when I met him... Got to film him training with Arnold for my channel at the recent expo... Generally think he mainly gets a bad rap from the role he was cast in for Generation Iron and the run-ins he had with some social media guys who were being disrespectful... :)
@@NattyHubIt is temporarily enhanced and the body never goes back to its normal state because the hormone(testosterone) that spiked so high during the enhancement period or cycle crashes lower than the normal level afterwards if they don't keep taking the PEDs. Therefore, retired guys like Phil Heath and his peers now have to take some TRT( Testosterone Replacement Therapy) for life shall they want to maintain a normal level of testosterone.
Last week my son, who is aspiring to be a pro body builder, was working out in his gym in Edmonton and Phil Health came in. Phil was such a gentleman, he said, and shared a conversation and a picture with him. Seems to be down to earth.
Cool, i am avid bodybuilder too.
How old are you and your son btw ma'am?
He is 24 and I am 47.
At least you’re aware that if your son aspires to reach his full potential and wants to compete there is no alternative but to take steroids. As long as its done correctly with the right medical advice it can be done safely.
@@1972dsraihe has been doing this since he was 17. Working out for years before 17 to improve his hockey. So, ya he is aware of all his options and is medically advised. It’s not for everyone.

It’s crazy how in the 2010s he was a villain and very polarizing , now days people realize he’s a good dude

So much so I wrote before watching in the comments a nasty comment about him. Then I watched and had to eat crow and delete my comment. Was happy to find your comment because I haven’t been up to date on bodybuilding for at least 4-5ish years now so I assumed he was the Phil I had always known/seen.

I love that when asked his opinion on the body positivity movement he really kept his answer focused on health. He mentioned health markers, blood tests, diseases, etc. how it's good to be healthy essentially. There was no shaming or ridiculing. Phil is great
TBF Phil was protecting his own life's decisions with that - he took gear on a massive level and as long as the dr said his bloods were not bad, he continued....he would be a hypocrite to shame anyones body when he has done the things he has to get his body a certain way...like someone eating loads, its two extremes

Great advice about printing the photos of yourself and then tailoring the training to what you want to add. I wish I would have started it much sooner, getting great results doing that. I also like the advice about not telling others what you are doing with meals or this/that, just do what you have to do. Nobody is really paying that much attention to you anyway. Great interview.

IMO the 2nd best bodybuilder ever, behind Ronnie Coleman, Phil at his peak was INSANE.
I hate to be the person that compares anyone to the generally agreed upon GOAT, BUT to be controversial. I genuinely think Phil at his peak has the more aesthetically pleasing physique. Obviously everyone credits Ronnie due to his absurd size and proportions. But dude Phil’s physique all around is like a Greek God blown up to a mass monster. Him and Cutler both, regardless of size, were so blessed genetically with proportionate physiques.
@@shawnwhelan7746 Oh I definitely agree that Phil's physique was far more visually pleasing, but bodybuilding isn't a beauty contest lol, it's about who's better at all the mandatory poses, and while I agree with you, that Phil at his peak was absolute spectacle, Ronnie would beat him in more mandatory poses.
@@mikebird5148just to play the other side, Phil had the more complete and consistent mandatories imo

Phil Heath seems a nice guy, very humble too.
Met Phil last month at the Arnold, he’s genuinely one of the nicest guys I’ve ever spoken to, and really cared about the experience for fans of bodybuilding
I prefer Phil Heath in retirement than when he was competing. Because he has so much more time to pass on his knowledge and experiences in life that I find very inspirational. When he was competing there was no time to show the world who he really was because he was at war with his competitors. So now we get to see the real man and he’s a very good person. Positive, insightful and truly motivational.
Phil was quite reserved here, looked a little nervous. I have followed him for his entire career and he is a champion through and through. Enormous self discipline and god given genetics. Its good to see him, and the sport, get some recognition.
I’d be nervous too. Being successful in a lot of this stuff is marketing. You speak common sense on a lot of the issues like he did he could lose his ability to pay for his home, training etc all because some sponsors don’t want any “controversial opinions”. Anything that resembles thought processes of the 1990s/2000s is out completely “out of date today”.
I dont really see him as nervous. He is rather calm tbh. But it wouldnt be weird when having nerves at a podcast. Especially a podcast of this large proportions
Nah he's definitely playing the Mr Nice Guy bit, staying super safe, smiling extra big and wide. Kind of like how you would talk to your mom and dad's friends when they introduced you to them lol. It's all good, he's makin money. Would have been nice to see a candid interview though. This fake TV crap is tough to sit through.
