Great tutorial, I replaced my cam follower on my 2008 GTI after 106,000 miles. I know that's way too long to leave it - luckily there was minimal wear. Thanks 👍🏼
Just got a MK6 R in September. Love the car, it's Stage 2+ with APR FMIC, HPFP, APR full RSC exhaust but customized by Corsa Exhaust in Berea, Ohio. They used my car to create the RSC exhaust when they teamed up with Corsa. Corsa specializes in corvettes mainly. Gonna attempt this today as it's around 50 degrees in Cleveland. Wish me luck
Very nice tutorial. FYI, the torque spec for the three bolts is only 7 ft/lbs. So it just makes sense to use a suitable torque wrench. Also fyi, I installed a LOBA hpfp, and so was in contact with the company wherein I was told that in testing the pump design it was removed at least 50 times and the same bolts were used repeatedly. As it it, I have a new kit with new bolts (anyway?).
longbowdt thanks for the correction. My comment regarding the stud conversion was more toward saving the aluminum threads, not the bolts. Paul, over at DAP, would have more information regarding that. Thanks for watching!
I understood about the bolts.I should have been more clear as well. LOBA installed the same bolts into the same pump mounting repeatedly with no issues. I was only stressing that it's more important to use the proper torque specs. As I said I have new bolts with my kit. Of course I'll inspect them to see if the are clean and not fouled with aluminum from the housing. Yours is still a very good video tutorial and I appreciate your sharing it with the community.
I think they updated the alloy for the cam follower and now it's far more robust than before. Changing it every 10k miles is a bit unnessecery, imho. Some people would change it if there is the slightest discoloring in the black paint thing...
He my man, tomorrow will be looking at a VW Eos 2.0 T-fsi 200 hp from 2006...with 120000km experience ( about 70th miles? ) I hear and read so many errors DONTS etc.... what 2 do
I just came across this video, wanted to ask before buying my golf R tomorrow... The golf R I have has an aftermarket APR High Pressure Fuel Pump in it already, do I need to worry about it in the aftermarket part?
I'm not sure if it's made for the VW 2.0T FSI engine or not but I see Cam Followers with a roller on the end that meets against the Cam, So maybe less Ware & Tare on the Cam , If I can find that type of Cam Follower for the VW FSI 2.0T would you recommend it ? Part# HITACHI FUP3058
Hey, man, I got a problem with my car. my vehicle is an Octavia with a 1.6 fsi engine. I'm driving down the road in my car, and he cuts off gas. the gas needle is fluctuating and the engine stops. the computer shows error code p2293. Service officials say the problem is caused by a high pressure pump. however, since the problem is not always experienced, I think there may be a problem with another equipment. I care about your ideas, and I await your answer.
Gotta remember to rotate the camshaft to a flat end so the cam follower goes all the way in
Wait what
Uhhhh, no

Great video. I have an 07 A8L. It has 2 of these. Just got some fuel codes today. P310B, P0088 and P119A. I'll be sure to check the cam followers
Perfect timing! I've been needing to change my cam follower and install my CTS Turbo intake as well. Thanks for the video!
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!

Ive owned my mk5 gti for 2 years (about 10k miles) and I should probably do this :o don't know if the previous owner ever changed it lol
Great tutorial, thanks man!
I have an 09 gti. Does that use a cam follower? Some people are saying it doesn’t. I want to make sure
So you don't have to change it on the TFSI ones?

At how many miles do you need to change camfollower on 2008 Audi a4 2.0 fsi ?

Yes. You should check it every 10 or 20K miles.

Does 1.6 FSI engine has this problems?
Did mine last night but mine's the 55 plate MKV so it had the banjo bolt :/
what are those two black hoses ? Thanks
where did u get the that rubber? mine comes without.
Nice tutorial! I have a question. I own a 2008 Audi A3 with 1.8 turbo engine. This car has the same problem? Thanks.
1.8s never had came follower issues. You'll just have to worry about coil packs ;)
If I’m getting no acceleration do I think it’s my hpfp
Its only on Turbo FSI's isnt? My FSI (non-Turbo) looks another... or im wrong ?
Mk6 Golf R is an FSI engine, Mk6 GTI is a TSI
What make you change it ?
Aren't you mean to prime the pump with a few turns without starting it first?.
Potentially... I didn't and everything seems to be OK. :)
Also turn the crank depending on the position if on the high point of the cam tht makes it easier as well!
Were can buy oring bought kit online didn't come with ring for fuel pump???
Alyssa Haywood ecs tuning sells them.
Quando deve se mudar cam follower cada 10.000 ou cada 20.000 km ?
What does it mean if there's no pressure or any fuel that came out of the pressure valve
Jose Gutierrez
bad lift pump "in tank pump"
What was the torque setting for the 3 bolts.
7ft/lbs for the three
@@bobbyyurk6483 thank you
What parts number?. ..gti 6,thanks.
Easy peasy
Wow, that engine is so damn silent. My 8P S3 sounds like a diesel in comparison.
How do I know is time to replace it ?
victor v if you check it and the black surface is worn through I would replace it.
You should make the camera closer to that things sorry about learn how to make video if not as someone
what a pain in the ass i might just trade my mk6 for a mk7. Its also easier to change the oil on it.
why only 4 cam followers? they wasn t 16 ?
