sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost my password. I love any help you can give me!
@Sawyer Sonny I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im trying it out atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks for the video! It was a big help. Probably saved me about $300 bucks. The follower was ready to be replaced after about 40,000 miles. Originally it failed at about 81,000 miles with catastrophic damage, but was covered under warranty. This time I caught it at the right time. Most of the black coating was worn off except around the edges, but no apparent damage. Getting access to the Banjo bolt fuel line was the biggest challenge and took about a half hour to get off, but reinstalled in minutes. My 2006 GTI is stock and I don't drive it hard. As it happened, I did not put on the stud kit due to clearance issues. I couldn't get the fuel pump back on without pushing hoses and lines, and didn't feel comfortable forcing anything. In retrospect I could have removed the brass fuel fitting to the pump to get the clearance and then reinstalled it after mounting the pump. I was pressed for time then. Maybe next time, if I still have the car. All in all a great learning experience though. Kris
I have a 2007 A4 2.0t. I found that using a 1/4" ratchet to a 12" extension with a u-joint to the 8mm triple square was the easiest. I couldn't get my stubby 1/4" ratchet with my hand in there like the video. Also doing it this way I didn't need to remove the PCV tube. Once it was loose I used a magnet tool to keep it from falling into the engine bay.
Just got an '07 Passat 2.0T. I'm not sure exactly which engine it has, but I will find out ASAP. I do like the ease of the HPFP removal to inspect that cam follower. This would be a couple hour job it seems the first time, then it would be much easier once you figured out that stubby 17 is where it's at. Well done video. Thanks for posting. You're now on my list.
Is there a washer with the banjo bolt or no? I just finally removed it after it was stripped by a previous owner of the vehicle. Boy was it a pig to get out. I removed it with tiny vise grips. Im just worried it i dropped a washer. Any help would be appriciated. Thank you.
AWESOME! ... those engineers made those bolt holes weak on purpose...critical area to service. cool kit! ... and great vid... thank god for your common sense.
Old vid I know, but the banjo bolt is best accessed from below, with the wobble and extensions required to a 8 square, its very easy without additional removal of items.
FYI... If you have the later revision with the hose, instead of the banjo bolt, you don't need to remove the hose in order to replace the cam follower! I wish I had known that before spending my weekend screwing with that god awful spring clip!
Yes I just got to replace in that part and the new PVC valve is so crispy and new I can't get that thing to click on for nothing..... Doesn't leak but those clips are just pure crap can't put the other part back on because I had to break the clip to get the other one off 🤷🏾♂️
Hey great video. I recently checked my cam follower but when I put everything back together I had a large leak spraying from the banjo bolt. There is a copper washer with the banjo bolt, should that be replaced, or is there something else that would cause a leak?
I’m just about to do this job and I am wondering if the engine needs to be in Top dead center position? You didn’t touch on this in the video so I just want to be safe before I replace my fuel pump. Thanks!
2018 Atlas - EPC with CEL flashing, slow crank, rough idle, cylinders 1-3 misfire, STRONG fuel smell in crankcase and cabin. Could the pump and/or follower be the reason for this failure? Or maybe the pressure regulator? THANKS! GREAT VIDEO!
Will failure of this pump cause a no start? I have a 2006 Volkswagen GTI 2.0 turbo I actually ran it out of gas filled it up it ran fine but when it got low on gas again it would not start for me I replaced the electronic fuel pump in the tank with the filter and I've been watching all these videos it seems to me the high pressure pump would be the issue any suggestions? Thank you
Ok so I saw another guy say the banjo bolt is a must replace. Humble mech. Why? If I’m not replacing the whole pump and resuming original stuff. Thanks.
I have 2007 audi a4 2.0 t fuel pressure regulator problems and I am trying to buy through the orally auto parts they said cost me 59 dollars to buy it. How easy to change them ?
Whats to prevent the whole stud from coming out, next change, with the Nyloc coated nuts gripping the stud? Unless the studs are put in with MORE torque than the recommended 8Nm. If the smooth center of the stud were squared or knurled, pliers seem to just spin around the shaft.
Great video, i have a question if you can help. i have VW 2013 passat cc, i drove it for long time while check oil light is on and i had to change crankshaft, bearing shaft and sort, after the engine is fixed, the check oil light keeps blinking repeatedly, i changed the oil pump, still the same thing, the engine is TSI 2.0 TSI, please, what else can i do.
You should add in your instructions that on a 2005-2008 B7 A4 2.0T the coolant hard pipe needs the two bolts removed from the intake and the triple square from the fuel line in order to sneak the HPFP onto the studs.
+Deutsche Auto Parts hi I have a 2009 Audi a8 I was wondering if you can help me out I had a cold p2293 fuel pressure regulator 2 does that mean that my pump needs to change the high pressure fuel pump
I know this video is 4 years old, but I just replaced my HPFP on my mkv GTI because the top sensor was broken. And I followed all the steps, but my car was still idling rough and had the same p2294 code. Any advice, does it need to run longer to even out?
I have an Audi 2.0 Quattro 2006. I recently bought it and the check engine light came on. I have been told its relating to the HPFP code P0089. I have so far changed the senor, filter and regulator. But the check engine light come on intermittently. I do not feel any loss of power or hesitation. the car runs very well apart from a diesel like sound. My mechanic told me this noise is normal for direct injection engines such as my audi fsi. The car does not shake on idle nor while driving high speeds. I do notice that the HPFP does make noise especially when the engine is cold. But I also inspected the pump, and cam follower as well as the cam shaft the look like new. So I just can't figure why this light keeps coming back on. I am also changing my N80 valve because I do notice ticking noise coming from he old one. Any suggestions>
I replaced my fuel pump and cam follower with parts supplied by your store. When I did the job I noticed the cam was a little grooved, not horrible very mild. I understand there are chances of possible camshaft failure but is it possible because of how mild the grooves were, that the camshaft would last for a bit of time with care?
I'm not sure if it's made for the VW 2.0T FSI engine or not but I see Cam Followers with a roller on the end that meets against the Cam, So maybe less Ware & Tare on the Cam , If I can find that type of Cam Follower for the VW FSI 2.0T would you recommend it ? Part# HITACHI FUP3058
I opened mine to check it and when I put it back I got a misfire on cylinder 2 it was fine before I checked the cam follower. Does the high pressure fuel pump need bleeding or what ? Air on the pump maybe ?
Julian Ponce No you will not need to bleed it. It sounds like your misfire is not likely related to the HPFP or cam follower. Your misfire is likely to be related to something else. Take a look at this article to find out more about tracking misfires down. shopdap.com/bad-ignition-coils-and-misfires-for-vw-audi-2-0t-fsi/
Question please; cam follower should replace for the 2009 VW TSI engine? or TSI engine should do some other for fuel pump every 20,000 or 40,000 miles?
The original camshafts were updated because there were some issues with them. With that said changing the cam follower often will help lengthen the life of your cam and potentially prevent any damage at all.
hi, i have audi a4 b7 2.0t fsi s-line. I have the following problem eror code (p2293 fuel pressure regulator 2) and two p0087 fuel rail/system pressure too low. The engine runs very poorly. what is the problem?
Doesn't need to be, but the pump is probably less compressed at that point. With the factory bolts, they might not be long enough (I bet they actually are), but with the stud kit, you're probably fine.
I've read that you want to replace any FSI cam follower with an aftermarket version because the one that Audi/VW manufacture wear faster and hinder performance somehow
Is it possible for the schrader valve to be on so tight that it feels like it'll strip ? I was trying to do mine and didn't feel comfortable with how tight it was so I left it alone. I'm gonna go ahead and order a spare in case it does but, if it does strip how would I get it off ?
Is changing the fuel pump o-ring essential? I have just bought the cam follower tappet on its own and finding the o-ring seal as a single item is proving difficult.
EnglishIsALie Replacing it is up to you. As far as finding it we have links to the seal on the cam follower page to try to make this as easy as possible to find. Did you purchase the cam follower from us? Here is the seal deutscheautoparts.com/wht005184-fsi-hpfp-seal.html
I got it elsewhere because I live in Scotland. I have found the seal on a few American sites but can't justify the shipping costs if it isn't absolutely essential to replace.
After a long run when I stop my skoda superb 1.8 petrol for long time and then I tried strat. ....it cranked but wont start ....but when i removed the front soft pipe line from hfpp and then strong petrol pressure realsed from the hfpp and my car star immediately ....please please please reply same pump no check engine light
How good is your aftermarket cam follower? Is it wise to go with an updated dealer part of would an aftermarket suffice? I definitely like the stud conversation idea, that seems to have simplified the process somewhat.
What if your stock hpfp doesn’t have a shrader valve or inlet? The new hpfp that I bought from ecs tuning has the inlet but I don’t actually have a schrader valve to swap over because the original pump did not come with one stock. Do I just buy a new valve and put it on? I don’t think you can just leave that open.
Got a question or two I'm hoping someone who's done this can answer. When I was trying to remove the HPFP to do this, I was able to get just about everything disconnected and bleed the schrader valve but I couldn't get the 3 bolts holding it to unscrew, I tried a regular screw driver, electronic screw driver, and a regular drill with no budge, not sure if whoever worked on it last over tightened it or if I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not too sure how else to get them off. Also, is it necessary to remove the rubber line and hardline to do this? I heard it was possible to move the pump enough to replace the follower but I have some doubts on whether that's safe to do or not, I'd figure it wouldn't be a good idea. Anyone else who's done this deal with that or know what to do? I've got a spare set of bolts but I've read somewhere they might not fit with the HPFP so I'd rather use them as a last resort.
if my dealer said my hpfp went bad and they just replaced the hpfp and not the follower or the cam should i be really conserned, i bought the cam follower and studds amd will be installing soon, but if i see the follower and cam are damaged what should i do ? (mkv 08 wolfsburg 2.0t)
Two questions... 1. Where did you buy the 8mm triple square socket? All i keep finding is the Schwaben set HB-120612. But i can see an maybe a fitment issue. To long. That stubby is nice. 2.Is there a kit to get rid of banjo bolt? That things seems bad. And as always Deutsche & Paul BIG THANK YOU for the help and great videos you put out there!
+Mike Redpath Thank you so much for the kind words. We appreciate it very much. 1. We have this tripple square set deutscheautoparts.com/mn10pc.html 2. Yes we have this kit for what you are talking about deutscheautoparts.com/fsi-bamboo-barb-fuel-fitting-conversion-hpfp.html
+Mike Redpath I got mine on amazon. This set is great because is very short and fits in tight places. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WIWN1U?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
+Deutsche Auto Parts So got my stud kit today to get rid torx bolts. Big question what tips do you recommend for removal of banjo bolt? Get car to temperature(for a lil heat)? WD 40 ? I couldn't afford to get rid of the crap banjo just yet.
Mike Redpath Thanks for the order we appreciate it. No real tips other than make sure you are in the triple square banjo bolt really well. Stripping the bolt wouldnt be fun.
+Deutsche Auto Parts All done. If there's one thing I could add it would be... STUCK A TSHIRT RAG UNDER NEATH BANJO BOLT WHEN TAKING OFF AND ON. LOST IT BOTH TIMES. Other than that not bad. Took my time and made sure I watched the video a few times, followed it and went smooth. Thank you. I think I had almost 100k on mine and I'm not joking. It didn't look bad. Coating was gone but expected that. The head was solid and nothing missing. The gasket was heat stressed so glad I ordered that too.
Hi, Paul, Do I need a torque wrench for this at any point? I watched another video on replacing the pump and he used a torque wrench for the t30s and everything else I think. Also, how will I know if the cam is damaged? Thanks!
Great video, thanks. Questions: once replaced and fuel pump remounted, will the car just start back up again? No airlocks or bleeding required? Did you disconnect the battery?
+Melany Garcia If its damaged you should consider replacing it. Take a look here for more info shopdap.com/vw-audi-2-0t-fsi-cam-follower-and-camshaft-wear-problems/
I just bought the conversion kit but was wondering how you installed the studs themselves? How did you mount the nut onto the stud in order to screw the stud in all of the way?
I'm interested in the stud conversion kit, but it would be used on a mkvi golf r, which has a rubber fuel line on a barbed connection held in place with a one time just clamp. Would I be able to use the stud kit if i cannot disconnect the low pressure fuel line?
I ordered one off the market the shop installed it and now he's telling me that he's having a cold and it's telling him that the computer is giving wrong signals to the car what does that mean did he installed it wrong
when i was removing schrader valve, i think i put too much pressure and ended up bending the bolt, can i replace them and how do i remove the bent bolts?
Thanks for the quick reply. Your site says 30 days for that magnetic deal but I can't wait that long. So you're saying I need to replace the HPFP and cam?
Hey got a quick question, I removed the union from the bottom of the HPFP that joins the flexible fuel line and in doing so think I might have dropped a crush washer or something into the engine compartment. I wasn't sure, so I reattached it and now have a fuel leak coming from that union. Does anyone know if there is indeed a washer that goes between the union and the HPFP, thanks.
My cam follower was worn though. Full repair was completed by the dealer. Is it still recommended to check the cam follower at regular intervals or are the revised parts installed by the dealer no longer subject to failure?
I just removed mine after 10 years and 100k miles. I was expecting the worst but it looked brand new. What an absolute pain. I did break the little coolant flange as well.
hello... great video... im before changing the follower in my '10 Golf R.... for me look pretty easy, but i jus want to ask... do i need to fill up fuel pump with fuel using procedure in VCDS like with fuel fiilter? best regards
Awesome thanks. Is this the 'old' TFSI, or is it the TSI that Audi confusingly call the TFSI? Thanks for explaining how to bleed off the fuel pressure - I saw in your intake manifold video that that would need to be done but it wasn't explained how. This makes it look so easy! :)
@@Deutscheautoparts hey I changed my cam follower and fuel pressure sensor and since I dine that I get fuel codes pop up and I notice ain't got a lot of fuel coming from the release valve when I pulled it back off to check things out what do you think
Hi i have a 2010 2.0 tfsi leon cupra. Recently had a service. Now it seems to be making a ticking noise when cold. Once warm its fine. Been tokd the cam follower could be the problem?? Would it make a ticking noise when cold????
Is this also the same for the 2016 GTI? I plan to check mine every 10-11 months since so many owners are having problems with this. Why do the people at VW not fix this? It affected the MKVI and MKV models too! Just lazy of them to not redesign it.

Does the engine need to be TDC before doing this? That's what Pelican Parts says to do anyway. I've never done that.
+Authorized Mike That is not accurate as far as we know.
Deutsche Auto Parts
Ok cool
What blanking plate are you using to replace the pcv breather valve
What if I stripped the triple square screw? Any way I can find that screw? Help please!
You shouldn't be touching cars if you've stripped the bolt
@@dq2273 I fixed it 6 years ago you dum dum. Are you looking your answer in the comments?
Is it possible for the schrader valve to be on so tight that it feels like it'll strip ? I was trying to do mine and didn't feel comfortable with how tight it was so I left it alone. I'm gonna go ahead and order a spare in case it does but, if it does strip how would I get it off ?
Would a 2006 A3's 2.0tfsi engine run off all the same properties as this engine here?
What happened with the old cam follower that was gone? Where is the part? in the engine or in the high pressure fuel pump?
EnglishIsALie We understand. International shipping doesn't always make sense. You should be able to reuse the old one but it may leak.
What's the worse case scenario if it does leak?
You will have an oil leak.
We offer 2 different ones but the cam follower included with our stud kit is the OEM one.
+Deutsche Auto Parts I'll be placing my order soon. Thank you
140VM Thanks for considering us I appreciate it very much
What if your stock hpfp doesn’t have a shrader valve or inlet?
I've got a spare set of bolts but I've read somewhere they might not fit with the HPFP so I'd rather use them as a last resort.
do you guys have a stud kit (longer stud) for folks that converted to the roller cam follower conversion kits?
if my dealer said my hpfp went bad and they just replaced the hpfp and not the follower or the cam should i be really conserned, i bought the cam follower and studds amd will be installing soon, but if i see the follower and cam are damaged what should i do ? (mkv 08 wolfsburg 2.0t)
Looks like I'm gonna have to do the same- go disassemble for a look see in my Audi 2.0T FSI.
what is the thread size for the banjo bolt? I think I need to replace mine lol
1. We have this tripple square set deutscheautoparts.com/mn10pc.html
2. Yes we have this kit for what you are talking about deutscheautoparts.com/fsi-bamboo-barb-fuel-fitting-conversion-hpfp.html
+Mike Redpath I got mine on amazon. This set is great because is very short and fits in tight places.

Hi, Paul,
Do I need a torque wrench for this at any point? I watched another video on replacing the pump and he used a torque wrench for the t30s and everything else I think.
Also, how will I know if the cam is damaged?
Thanks!
Yeah it's 9.5 Nm torque. And the follower is damaged if the black part has reduced too much. Completely dead if you see a convex hole in it.
What are the signs of one going out I have multiple miss fires but have new coil packs and start plugs?
Can this lock a motor no crank no start? New cam sensor new battery plugs and coils…
Great video, thanks. Questions: once replaced and fuel pump remounted, will the car just start back up again? No airlocks or bleeding required? Did you disconnect the battery?
Do you have video for the timing chain?
Do you need to release pressure if you're only changing the thrust pressure sensor?
i just pulled my HPFP and the cam follower was broken. automatically i have to change the pump and the cam?
+Melany Garcia If its damaged you should consider replacing it. Take a look here for more info

I just bought the conversion kit but was wondering how you installed the studs themselves? How did you mount the nut onto the stud in order to screw the stud in all of the way?
+Aaron Ridgeway They should thread in by hand. We also recommend installing blue loc tite on the end that goes to the engine.
I'm interested in the stud conversion kit, but it would be used on a mkvi golf r, which has a rubber fuel line on a barbed connection held in place with a one time just clamp. Would I be able to use the stud kit if i cannot disconnect the low pressure fuel line?
Do you pull the fuse to the HPFP before all of this? more id just releasing pressure through the Schroeder valve sufficient?
that weird fight club scene slip bothered me a bit, but its just a tool list at 4:09
I saw the same thing, thought it may be some subliminal messaging shiiiit.
It was a list of tools for FSI fuel pump and follower.
Haha!
+Joshua Kim What bolts are you referring to?
+Deutsche Auto Parts a gold bolt that you have to use 13 mm wrench to remove
+Joshua Kim This is the valve you're talking about deutscheautoparts.com/06d-133-400-a.html
+Deutsche Auto Parts oh yes it is do you deliver to new Zealand? Exactly what i wanted
Joshua Kim We are sorry we dont ship outside the US.
Thanks. Was very helpful. Been having the same issue with with my golf 5 2.0 fsi. Rather let me buy the new part and fit it in myself
Thanks for the quick reply. Your site says 30 days for that magnetic deal but I can't wait that long.
So you're saying I need to replace the HPFP and cam?
3k worth of repairs. 😡
Thanks man. I'll be checking that part every 15k miles from now on. Car is running great and I just paid it off yesterday!
Good luck! If it's not worn, I'd replace it anyway. $75 part is much easier than 3k unless you do it all yourself.
I removed the 2 bolts where the sharder valves to relieve pressure is and now it leak fuel from their.
Hi, is an interesting video. I have a question: The 2008 Audi A3 with 1.8 TFSI 160hp engine has this problem? Thanks.
Where do I buy that cam pump seal or O ring at?
what should I expect to pay to replace the cam follower?
Hey got a quick question, I removed the union from the bottom of the HPFP that joins the flexible fuel line and in doing so think I might have dropped a crush washer or something into the engine compartment. I wasn't sure, so I reattached it and now have a fuel leak coming from that union. Does anyone know if there is indeed a washer that goes between the union and the HPFP, thanks.
kg*2 The VW Catalog does no show any washer there. You may not have it tightened down all the way. Hope this helps
thanks for the reply, how do I get that catalog btw?
I'm sorry it is not something available to the public.
Hy, do you know how many ml per second, it has to deliver the pump that is in the fuel tank? .thanks in advance
I have a couple questions!
Can this kit be placed on a 2012 Golf R with an APR HPFP?
My cam follower was worn though. Full repair was completed by the dealer. Is it still recommended to check the cam follower at regular intervals or are the revised parts installed by the dealer no longer subject to failure?
+Ryan Rushton Yes you should. Take a look here for more info shopdap.com/vw-audi-2-0t-fsi-cam-follower-and-camshaft-wear-problems/
+kevin bballer No you dont need to prime the pump
2008 Audi A4, 2.0T, Quattro: >>> BEWARE
Do the new EA888 engines have cam follower issues as well?
do you know where I could find a replacement connector for the sensor at the top of the hpfp? the plug attached to the vehicles harness
+Harry Marshall Depends on the vehicle. Audi uses TFSI most so many models
@@Deutscheautoparts hey I changed my cam follower and fuel pressure sensor and since I dine that I get fuel codes pop up and I notice ain't got a lot of fuel coming from the release valve when I pulled it back off to check things out what do you think
Does this affect the Skoda 1.8 TSI engines? it's has the 06H109311B part
That triple square banjo bolt is a biscuit to put back on 😂
Hi i have a 2010 2.0 tfsi leon cupra.
+largol33t1 this only applies to FSI engines
@@Deutscheautoparts Hi. I know this is an old video but does this apply to the 2.0 tsi as well?
i plan on doing this soon, I'm gonna order the stud kit. does it come with all the seals?
+Teddy Sras Our stud kit includes the seal for the fuel pump to cylinder head.
Thank you I just ordered it today! I can't wait till it shows up so i can get it done.
Teddy Sras Thanks for the order. We appreciate it very much.
Just got it today and I just finished installing it....really simple to install thanks again!
Goodmorning i have a Golf Gti from the year 2009 type 6 with a TSI motor Do i have the same problem with this motor
+frits duwel No the TSI engines don't have this issue
Hey the hose that you removed from the pump @2:27 is there any pressure on that line...
yes, remove fuel pump fuse and run car till engine stops.
no pressure.
