Great video! May i ask if there are some further camera control features trough the grip? I am.planning to pair the system to my BGH1, and controlling the iso and the recording start by the grip itself would be amazing.
Yes, connecting the handle to (compatible) Panasonic cameras works. Bluetooth function should work, but last time I tested it, I couldn't get it to work
Thanks Red! Im back wondering if i use the lumix lens w/o the external motor can i move the lidar w this setup to my mattbox?do i have to calibrate? As 10-25 is varible focal length and seems fine when lidar is on the hot shoe w/o calibration. Just still confused about calibration w no motor. Doesnt seem to remember cal when the file is only recorded on dji motor. Ive been using auto and tracking and when i have someone walk in front of the subject ill hit manual then back to auto. I have not tried the app. Not to be a bother just thinking and referencing your video. Thank You
That’s a good question. I honestly don’t know. It doesn’t seem possible to calibrate that setup. I’ll look into it and ask dji (although they’re very unresponsive)
Hi! great video! question! will this work with photography lenses? How would it affect the motor calibration if the lens does not have a hard stop in the focus throw? is there a way to manually set A and B points so it doesn’t go over?
It is possible to get that to work and you can set A and B points manually, but the lens (and camera body) have to be capable of linear focus. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the amazing video! I measured 62mm from Lidar to the sensor plane mark symbol next to the audio button, however, not 56mm. Did you perhaps mean 65mm? By the way, I nearly sold my GH6 for lack of Autofocus! I got the DJI Focus Pro for my Blackmagic camera, and it's a dream to use, but I didn't even consider using it on with my GH6 at first. I no longer have manual MFT lenses, nor do I have a cage for the GH6. I watched your video here a long time ago, but at the time I must have missed the point about the DJI Focus Pro supporting native Lumix AF lenses. The other day I watched it again, and instantly tried it. I'll make a video about it soon, just have to wait for the cage first :D So happy about this! This is so amazing. :D
Glad you like you video 🙂 I’m thankful for you pointing my typo! I indeed meant 65. I should’ve double checked 😅 and I’ll measure it again, perhaps it should be 62 like you said. Focus pro works so well! I am currently about to rig it up again for a shoot myself 🙂
Excellent 🎉.love the custom mount segment. The process of powering is i think the same w RS3pro and focus is freakin fast and jumpy however The Gh6 is def relavent again.Intesting to know about hdmi as i use the Ninja V+ . Wondering now if the creator handle only can you hold the focus wheel talking handle only as someone walks through that is not the subject to continuing tracking subject if i explained right? Thanks Red
Thanks man! I’m not entirely sure what you mean, but I think you’re asking if holding the focus wheel to prevent the AF from jumping to a different subject, also works on the grip’s wheel. And the answer is yes. The wheel on the hand unit or the grip essentially have the same functionality.
Sadly, S5 OG doesn’t have support for LiDAR AF mode (direct control of Lumix AF lenses to be better than CDAF or PDAF in low light). All other modes work, but that would have been a huge boon for the S5 “mark 1” owners. Come on Lumix.
Wouldnt it be cool to connect wireless ly the handle hold focus connect rs4 to control tracking w interuptions away from the gimbal on a tripod !?idk🎉Thank You
In my testing with the PL25-50, when the focus clutch is set to manual, it doesn’t work. However, setting the camera itself to MF does work and is in fact mandatory
I mostly used cine lenses that render a rather soft image, but I can assure you that the system nails focus very accurately if calibrated correctly. Calibration takes a bit of time if the lens is not listed in the presets, but once it’s calibrated it can be stored as a preset
@@RedFrameTech mmh. maybe I am mistaken then... but then again at around 2:55 . We can see that the grip tries to focus on your face, but don't you think the device in your hand, your hands or even the front of your beard seem sharper than your eyes?
@@oliverspeiser5930 Thanks for watching so critically. Keeps me sharp! You’re right, my face in the shot at 2:55 is not in focus. I’m not sure what I did or didn’t do, but it’s mostly likely user error. I have been using the focus pro quite a bit and have never had this happen again.
@@RedFrameTech thanks for taking it so well. I'm just planning an investment into a new rig and am wondering how much trust i can put in this system. So thank you for your video!

As it stands right now, there’s no iso control. However, you can start and stop recording via the grip. Thanks so much for watching!
I like to hear your views on the GH7 vs GH6 with LIDAR because its a cheaper upgrade
That’s an interesting one!
I was eagerly waiting for your follow-up, thank you! :D
Took me a while 😅 Thanks for watching!
Great review! Is it possible to use the DJI Lidar at the same time as the Panasonic DMW-XLR2 XLR Microphone Adapter?
Thanks! I can’t see why not. Mounting might be a challenge though
thankyou😂I was about to sell my GH6, now I even want to buy more stuffs
Glad I stopped you from selling your GH6 😄 Thanks for watching!
hello ! does the the handle RSS cable works on Panasonic camera , and also the bluetooth function ? thanks
Yes, connecting the handle to (compatible) Panasonic cameras works. Bluetooth function should work, but last time I tested it, I couldn't get it to work
Great! I didn’t know it can be used with external motors!
Thank you so much for making this video!
You’re most welcome. Thanks for watching!

I note happily that it doesn’t mistake the ballast bulb on that fin-keeled sailboat for a face!
😂 Good to see you here Dave!
What about to integrate the external monitor with the dji LiDAR unit in just one piece? Move one Panasonic!!
That would be incredible!
How does it work with Sigma AF L-mount lenses? Still no need for focus motor? Thanks
I’m not sure, but I assume it would work since Panasonic says those lenses can be considered native
Hey how is the Mitakon working with it? Are you happy with the result?
It works a treat with the Mitakon! Very accurate and it’s very nice to have an autofocusing cine lens. Or even the manual control via the grip
I'm using the Focus Pro on the Blackmagic Micro Studio 4K G2. Thank you for your dedication to post helpful videos!
You’re most welcome!
Haven’t used that camera myself, but it seems like an interesting camera. Thanks for watching!
How do you like it I’m thinking of getting a g2
Can you explain 9:03. Distance from sensor to lidar?
The Lidar system needs to know the distance between the sensor of the camera and the front of the lidar sensor. That’s it 🙂

Do you know if is posible with the Blackmagic full frame and Lumix lenses?
I suspect it doesn’t work without a focus motor, but I haven’t tested it
I have the focus grip pro but with the lidar rs 2022, connected to my GH6 and the 10-25 f1.8, it doesnt seem to give the camera autofocus
That would be correct. Focus Pro autofocus only works with the new lidar unit
@@RedFrameTech Thank you!
Have you tried with any Sigma AF lenses with L mount?
No sorry I haven’t. But I’m assuming it would work
No it won't. Tried it. Focuspro needs hardstops to work
@@tecno8335no it doesn’t with compatible AF lenses. Not sure if the Sigma lenses are compatible though

Where did you guys bought it ? I can't find it anywhere in France, Amazon or Aliexpress......
Use the link in the description. Directly from DJI

Hello - have you any idea if this works as well with manual lenses on lumix?
That’s basically what the system is designed for. You can calibrate any manual lens and it doesn’t matter which camera you use
Great, now i need money hehe
Thanks mate, great to know!
I've recently purchased the Nucleus Nano II set with their focus and zoom motors, would the new Focus Pro work with these motors?
Highly unlikely. As they’re different brands they’re probably using their own protocols for communication
@RedFrameTech thanks for your reply, not to worry. I can use the Tilta kit on a different camera so I guess it won't go to waste.

I believe it has similar compatibility as the GH6

You cant use photo lenses with focus pro folks. Just buy a manual cine lens with hardstops and it will work.
Like I said: with compatible lenses (and cameras) you actually can. Without focus motor. For use with focus motor, yes, hard stops are required
