Kondor Blue just came out with a metal cage thing for the LiDAR unit so you can rig it easier. Better than some 3D printed solution or gaff taping it in place. 😂
I just got mine. Had to order a smallrig rail they made for matte boxes to mount it on my rails below lens. Nice product otherwise... Beats having to machine your own mount.
On zooms it seems like the best approach would be to calibrate at the longest focal length to get it sharp and if the lens is par focal it "should" stay focused. Also, the DZO lenses are pre programmed into the lens database when setting it up so they may have accounted for a lot of that.

I still don’t understand why no one has a built a camera yet that can control an external focus motor. Imagine a camera where you can save multiple profiles for manual focus lenses and control a small focus motor. This way you can use all the focussing features of the camera but with any lens. Plus Lidar will eventually be added to cameras so you will be able to choose between PDAF and Lidar. I’m open to reasons why this would be a bad idea, but i can’t think of any.
I'm very curious to learn more about this camera tech in practice. Particularly about the 4d gimbal and how it may replace things like dolly track and/or steadycam.
endless possibility 500$ for RS4, 1000$ for the Pro and as long as you have the ability or the knowledge using third party software from github......etc. You can toss up to 6 digits $$$$$$ for a 500$ or 1000$ gimbal! thats crazy or you can jump to Ronin 2.
I recently bought the Lidar Focus Pro and noticed the feed to my RS4 pro looks very warm and contrasted compared to what I see from your feed and the others as well.
Can you use it the lidar autofocus without the sidegrip? Meaning i want autofocus with cinema lenses but have a minimal rig and not have the bulky sidegrip attached to the camera. If i can figure out how to power the motor without the handle.
Thanks great video Tom. I have a problem when using the grip with the lidar on my Kamodo x when trying to calibrate a manual lens thats approved. During the calibration when the lens gets to Infinity or close focus the focus motor will come to a complete stop and the motor will stop then lose grip of the lens and rattle in the teeth and shake the camera. It's as tight as it can get and very smooth until you get to either end of the calibration and it stops. I have to turn it off. , Strange that when it racks focus it will go past infinity and stop as well on the other end for close focus?
The an oying thing i foind is the grip has best use of lidar with 15 profile sets, the rs4 and hibright only have 3 but grip doesnt work with transmission hub. Not sure why they didnt make everythign work woth everything so i can go from gi bal to handheld 🤷 but they have my feedback about it. Close as i can get for handheld is using 4d grips with extenders and nto to arri mount. Sicks vecause i prefer the focus pro grip the best. Also lack of ronkn app lens database and namig of lenses would greatly improve this oversight so you could load and go from app.
Where did you get the d-tap cable? I don't think they include that with purchased units and I can't find it on their store 😅Also, yes, for the LiDar only DJI USB C cables seem to work.

Is the Active Track on the gimbal ALWAYS on when using the Lidar unit ? Can it be turned off? I want to be able to frame manually.

I have the RS4 Pro for my Nikon Z8 and would love to be able to track properly but recently found out it may not work with my photo lens apparently
Did you sell your Titla Nano 2 or do you still find uses for it over the DJI Focus Pro?

I think the dtap only comes in the wireless hand unit box. So if you got the creator kit you wouldn't have it.
