Thank you very much for taking the time to create this video, much appreciated. You have clarified all my doubts, thank you again. I will share this video for on the dji channels to give them a shake and bring out a new firmware update that solves these problems.
Fantastic video! You've covered everything super well. We've definitely had frustrations on our end with how this system doesn't feel fully integrated. Also super disappointed that there is no way to use the lidar hub with the focus grip. Considering its basically an rs4 without the gimbal makes it pretty confusing why they would choose to have no integration with the lidar hub.
Thanks for this awesome explanation & breakdown. This is the first video where I can understand the Focus/Transmission/Lidar system. If DJI want to move into the Pro space some of these things need to be addressed.
thanks so much for sharing, I ended up buying both as i got the new one and ran into the same confusion/frustration as you guys. Dji support were even more confused than me about it haha. I guess i just have one for handheld and one for rs4 pro now
thanks! such a potentially cool system that is just missing a few small things to be useable - dji needs to bring y'all on board to manage/fix this product
Ok, cabling from the motor to grip will probably fry the grip but What would happen if you use old lidar hub with dji tranmission and focus pro setup connecting to the focus pro grip via empty USB c port on the hub? Is it still dangerous? Will it work or is ignite digi working on any solution to fix the issue? It's actually very necessary for my workflow to use the whole transmission, lidar hub, focus pro handle, lidar, motor together. Appreciated.
No the empty USB-C port on the RS LiDAR Hub is only for gimbal control CANBUS, it does not feed LiDAR data. DJI have not designed the Focus Pro Grip to be used alongside the Transmission with LiDAR Hub. If you want your operator to have focus option while your 1st AC also does, then you have to use the 4D grip on a DJI high-bright monitor currently.
Hello, good evening. It's really very enlightening but I'll still wait for this cable to work in practice. When are you going to produce a video in practice showing in fact that power cable leno for DJI Focus pro lidar hub working with Ronin 2 ❓🇧🇷🇺🇸
We will release a video next week showing Ronin 2 with our Control Deck for DJI Transmission, with the Focus Pro LiDAR Hub in use, with our R2 to LiDAR Hub cable. Not sure why you don't believe it works though? We aren't trying to trick anyone here.
Thank you! I am looking for options for a transmitter and a monitor for playback and looking for autofocus for lenses Karl Zais CP.3. Do I understand correctly that I can either use a transmitter and a monitor, or only autofocus? Camera Sony FX-3. I like that I can control the camera settings through the monitor. But I want professional lenses(
Super helpful video. Though I am wondering what If i want to use the power passthrough option from tilta for the dji transmitter for a cleaner setup? Is it as simple as not plugging the power into the transmitter from the lidar hub? As I'm guessing the usb-c is for data only. Or would it be worthwhile to just not bother with a power passthrough mounting option for the transmitter.
The TX's 6-pin carries power and data, the USB-C on TX carries lidar overlay and visual camera from LiDAR. If you're using the RS3 Pro or RS4 Pro then use the new Focus Pro LiDAR Hub and power it all with their included dual USB-C to 7-pin cable.
Very clever content. That changes from those lame paid influencers, that are hiding knowingly the defects of the advertised products. BTW, are U shipping to Switzerland?
I think the challenge for those influencers is they have early access, when specs and functions aren't finalised and so have to go off what is expected or promised. Yes we ship with DHL Express to Switzerland!
Thank you for making this video! Solves many questions. I have only one more question, is it possible to connect the RS hub(old one) with the RS4 pro DJI Focus Pro LiDAR system (focus motor, focus pro lidar, dji transmission transmitter). Connect the RS hub with the rs4 pro via the usb-C port on the hub and power the hub via d-tap power cable which is already on RS hub?
The frustrating part is, that DJI only lists compatibility for the RS4 Pro for the Lidar Pro Hub. I haven't gotten around to unpack the hub yet, to test it with the RS3 Pro and I have and use the original hub also.
Great videio. With the Ronin 2 control cable you guys made, is it possible to see lidar waveform, lidar camera image etc. on the dji transmission monitor?
Yes! With both R2 cables for the RS and the Focus Pro LiDAR Hubs: RS Hub: www.ignitedigi.com.au/products/controlcable-dji-lidar-cable-hub-to-ronin2 Focus Pro Hub: www.ignitedigi.com.au/products/controlcable-ronin2-to-dji-focus-pro-lidar-hub
Glad to see all of this info. Unfortunately new rs4 pro smoked with nothing but ronin handle to head connected, wouldn't power on and then smoke. No dtap, nada. Anyway. Had to send back for repair. 🤷 But glad to now see how all connections to work. I have both hubs but unfortunately one came before gimble smoked. So good to know with focus pro grip. The new hub seems to be more of a pain than old one. Was trying to make a system I could switch easily from gimbal to tripod to handheld in one rig. Unfortunately seems I would need a separate transmission unit for gimbal to tripod/handheld. The new hub only staying on gimbal. There seems so much promise in system but so many limitations and incompatibility. The focus handle can store 15 lens. The gimbal and hibright only 3. They need to get everything on par as a whole. While I'm waiting on return for my gimbal, going to have to just rethink setup. Also the DJI 1/4" two holes don't line up with nearly any of my 1/4"... There is just one set on a small rig vmount plate it's spaced correct for. Also brand new to this DJI ecosystem. And have quite a bit of it, that rs2 cage in background. What is it? It's not standard on their website. I just ask because been having quite a hard time getting a rig compact enough for rs4 pro to not hit back arms trying to get even a small amount behind fx3 body.
Hey! Sorry to hear about your RS4 Pro smoking on first use, that's definitely not ideal! The RS2 cage? As in the ring the gimbal is in? Or cage on the RED KOMODO?
@@ignitedigiAlso curiously. When I set up hub system with teansmission, I have hub going to transmission, the braided USB going to motor. The added USB going to handle on the lidar side, the dual USB going to lidar u it, but went from motor to focus pro handle on motor side, is that not correct? Oh and dtap to v mount. Have I just been lucky I haven't smoked my focus pro handle? Without that connected the focus wheel won't work.
@@ignitedigi whew, good thing your video came up in my feed. there is nothing in manual stating you cant run it this way and i believe i have dozens of times. maybe i just run main motor braided cable to motor and the USB port to the handle like you would with the gimbal. either way, there is nothing in the manual for either focus pro handle or transmission hub warning of this voltage discrepancy. i really need to get one of those USBc voltage checkers. then again, my gimbal smoked with just the handle hooked up to it and nothing else but a balanced camera. also sucks the batteries between ronin and focus pro look near identical, same mount but totally not compatible. what sucks the most is the focus pro handle is the most capable of any of their ecosystem and what i use the most.
So I have the tilta cage and power kit for my Komodo X, the battery plate that came with it has a usb c port for power output. I just bought your 7 pin to d-tap cable for my focus pro hub. If I power a focus motor with the cable hub through your cable on a vmount battery, and then power a zoom motor through that usb c on the tilta battery plate to then daisy chain an iris motor, would that be an ideal solution without worrying about frying my gear?
Hey Todd, It depends on how you are wanting to control the motors? Focus/Iris/Zoom all from the DJI Hand unit? Or wanting to split focus to be 4D grip on side on DJI High-bright monitor, then iris and zoom on DJI Hand Unit? If all from the DJI hand unit, the you can daisy chain all motors together (AND NOT use the USB-C port on tilta plate) which will power from the LiDAR Hub. If you want to split control then you want to make sure you don't link the single motor (connected to LiDAR Hub) to the other two. It's quite confusing isn't it?!
@@ignitedigi the hand unit, I was just wondering if it was safe to daisy chain all three motors without frying it all when the lidar hub is powered through a v mount battery with your cable. Thank you!
Seems like the focus grip has more uses than the transmission system with the cable hub. Is this what you've found in testing? I am missing the ability to change torque settings in the autofocus mode when using the cable hub and it is really rough on my lenses.
Hey! Yes some settings are available in some setups, and some are missing those settings. You can change the speed of the focus motor on the high-bright when LiDAR is attached, or speed and torque on the RS3/4 Pro OLED if on that gimbal with LiDAR Hub.
Hi, do you know if I can use the high bright monitor with hand grips to control my rs4 gimbal (transmitter attached), without all of these additional cables? Thanks
Yes you only need all these cables etc. if you want to have the LiDAR as well. If you just want gimbal control and focus motor then use the included (with high bright combo kit) USB-C -> 6-pin lemo to TX cable and then USB-C to USB-C DJI cable to motor.
Jesus, even watching this video is exhausting, I'd rather wait a year or two till DJI comes up with some sort of plug'n'play solution. Too many things could go wrong with this convoluted cabling when on a chaotic/rushed film set.
Hey Dastan, if you hide the D-tap to USB-C cable (in the rubbish?) and then tap the spare USB-C on the motor, you basically negate the risk, but I understand your concern! DJI are unlikely to change their motor/USB-C (non PD) power standard as it's been like that for a few generations. But maybe enough smoked devices will see them change?
thank goodness i found this video before i started to put my newly bought rig together. thank you for this

What control do you have over the Lidar through the High Bright? Or is it just monitoring and zero control of Lidar settings?
