I was injured while playing this piece. it is not a very serious injury but I think I need to take a rest for a few days. I was uploading a video every day since I open this channel, sometimes two times a day. I really enjoyed it and it was such a great experience to share my music with you guys. I really appreciate your support and I will be back with beautiful music again very soon!

Right!!! And the guy chained up, was Liszt himself. He composed and practiced this stuff for hours on end from what I've read. The Transendental Etudes are murderous. And, he supposedly improvised over his own compositions when Playing in concert performance. He must have been something else.

This may be the best interpretation of Mazeppa I’ve ever heard, and I’ve probably heard a hundred. It goes without saying that the technique is absolutely impeccable, damn near flawless, a feat that by itself is worthy of endless praise. But it goes much deeper than that - the transitions from staccato to legato, the imposing use of the pedal without ever sacrificing clarity and articulation, the dynamic range, it’s all incredible. Bravo. I haven’t played much Liszt, but if I ever get around to learning more than just La Campanella (lol), I’ll certainly come back to this video to study your technique. Truly incredible performance.

So, yesterday I was babysitting my 9-month old grandson. I took him for a walk in his stroller, we reached the park, sat on a bench, and I played this video for him on my phone. He was absolutely fascinated, moving his hands up in the air, and humming along. He watched, and listened to the whole piece from beginning to end, without being distracted by anything! His great-grand-mother is French pianist Monique Duphil, and his great-grand-father is violinist Maurice Hasson, so we want him to love classical music, whether he becomes a musician himself or not! We already have a piano teacher, whose specialty is teaching very young kids, lined-up for when he turns two!

It's humbling & amazing what humans can achieve through disciplined & practice. To me, this is the most difficult piano piece ever, but most people say Feux Follets is. Either way, they are both testaments to what can be achieved with ten fingers, a lot of practice & a piano. Congratulations & my deepest respect.

I never picked it up, actually wound up stepping away from piano altogether for several years because of how much his death affected me. I haven’t even heard it since all of that.
