- Kuboat tractors don't come with chain hooks from the factory, in this video I show how to install weld on chain hooks to my Grand L 4760 bucket.

Hooks on a bucket absolute must i installed 5 on my bucket. Each end and one in the middle and one between middle and ends. Nice Job.
Great video! I am glad I found your channel. I love videos like this and will certainly follow your Kubota adventures.
Nice weld job, thank you for sharing.
Good looking welds !
Very nicely done, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the video. I just ordered my weld on hooks from Amazon four for $20. Hope my welds turn out that nice.
Nicely done.
Nice job. You will find they come in handy. Kent from PEI
EXCELLENT !!!! I am going to do that to my bucket. I also love the chain you got there.....going to make that also......lol
That looks like a good weld to me 😁👍 glad your video popped up👍
Nice work.
5/27/21 . .. nice job . . . weld on hook ....nice 1/4 " bead . . ..with that machine you need it done right ...like here
You can also get bolt-on.
This compromises the powder coat less.
I'm considering bolting some to the loader frame. (Long U bolts, no drilling)
.
Stick your magnetic angles on your welder when you aren't using them. Easy to find every time.
.
Nice welding
Thanks
I like how you just drove up and hooked that chain and grabbed the axle. You made more than that root pass right?
Good job, those Mig sets are spot on. Are you using Argon mix
I guess you should have ask the internet on how to not installed your hooks. These experts really beating you down. Welds look good those hooks are not coming off i think i would invite these experts over to see if they pull them off.
Nice weld. I found that flap disc works well for removing powder coat.
It's best to weld the hooks to a buffer plate first. Round would be first choice, but a square or a rectangle will work too. Just be sure and wrap the corners of the buffer plates when you weld them. Unless you're using gas shielded fluxcore, that is a welding job for 7018.
why round? i'm assuming because the buffer plate is going to torsion/tweak onto the sheet metal bucket and a sharp corner allows it to punch through or tear easily. i dont think i've evern seen a round clevis plate sold though they're all rectangle n whatnot. i guess i could round the corners off with an angle grinder
Nice job. What paint did you use to match the Kubota orange?
Its the Kubota brand paint from the dealership
It would be ideal if you first weld a piece of square steel plate before the hook to absorb more load. In time you will see that it deforms the bucket sideways to the hook.
It appears to be like my Kubota bucket which has an second plate across the top length of the bucket, so I don't think this will be a problem.
Put a fishplate on first with more welded erea an 3 runs 2 layers in welding
yup, best to weld the hook(s) on an appropriate plate, then weld (or bolt) that assembly to the bucket sheetmetal. That Spreads the structural load to much larger area....
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Loader l2501?
While I believe Kubota equipment is top of the line, a whole lot of their buckets have incredibly bad quality welding on them! Their mini excavator buckets are terrible! Repaired a bunch of them! Great job on this mod though!
is it mandatory to have the bucket OFF the tractor to weld this on? ie: electrical current going thru the tractor to short circuit electronics perhaps?
Not sure of this ? No pre heat , ?
Cooking some nice bacon 👍
Should always put the hooks inside the bucket. 🤙🏽
Why’s that ??
Nope never
Why u don’t wear dust mask when Grinding
What kind of welding machine is that ?
Its a Miller 252 mig welder
Probably could have got a little closer if the wire was coming directly out of your eye. Novice welders always have burned up helmets.
pas peur du feu.....
What kind of wire you used on your welder ?
its .035" solid core. not sure on the brand. its what the local welding shop had in stock.
Them weak brittle short circuit mig welds won't last use a ductile material like 7018 or dual shield fluxcore
I have never had any of my Mig welds fail. Mig welding is an industry standard, not sure what you are talking about.
Do your research why else is short circuit mig not on any pre qualified precedures that's why it dosnt bite in like spray transfer or certain fluxcore wires
should've used a 1/8" 7018 rod with reverse polarity . those welds would hold
@@carolshawol6699 the last time l did spray transfer years ago was on 1" plate, and we was having an heat wave.
Why don't you heroes take your opinions and shove them up your ass! The guy did a great job, it's a damn loader bucket not a submarine! Those hooks will outlast the machine itself!
Did you burn the shit out of your jacket?
Never hook a chain to the top of a bucket! Never weld a chain hook or "D" ring on top of a bucket!
When a chain or strap breaks it can kill you. Chain hooks and rings ALWAYS belong inside the bucket.
People do this every day bro. You got a better chance of dying from someone texting and driving
First off this is not a cable. Chains almost never whip. We're talking about a little kubota tractor do you think those really have the power to whip a heavy chain? No. Hooks never go inside. Just like on an excavator bucket rocks and concrete will keep hitting the hook and make certain material hard to come out. Clay will always stick to it so everytime you need to chain up you'll need to clean it up. Not ideal at all. Besides what you say makes zero sense if it broke by the bucket it's going to hit the front grill before you. If it breaks on the far end and does happen to whip then the placement of hooks won't save you regardless. Not to mention, if it breaks by the bucket, it can't come toward you it's going to whip away from you.... do you think before typing? Gotta love comment section when people who work in an office try to chime in 😅
@@johnzadinya2181 There are plenty of videos showing where chains have snapped back and damaged vehicles or hit people. I have been a licensed contractor for 23 years, I don't punch a keyboard. Hooks and rings should ALWAYS go inside the bucket. People have been hit and killed by chains and straps flying back at the operator. Putting the hooks at the top of the bucket creates an upward angle which directs the chain or cable up and over the bucket. You should try thinking sometime. You might not look so arrogant and foolish next time
@@briangc1972 just cause you're "licensed" does mean anything. So is Pablo at the 7/11. It doesn't matter if the hook is inside or 4 inches above if it's going to whip it'll whip. You're not breaking any real chain with a tractor this size. Maybe you shouldn't stay in construction if you're so scared of everything......let the real men get things done. Keep drinking that corporate kool-aid...
YOUNG MAN ,
WORST THING U CAN DO , PUT CHAIN HOOKS / WANT LAST EVERY LONG WELDING THE HOOK ON ?
FORSURE !
What a badly written comment. Who knows what the poster ment, I sure didn't understand his point and I read and write fluent American English.
