    Great tip for those who are unaware. I checked my Kubota tractor day of delivery when new. And 4yrs (160hrs) later, its still clean and on the full mark on the dip stick.
    I very diligent about checking ALL my fluids before i start & use my tractor`s. Most people don`t, and then that is when they get in trouble. Its not hard to check the fluids before starting it.

    Thank you 🙏. I went to the garage. Broke the check open, nothing. Broke the fill and put an additional 2.5 quarts of 85-90 until it started leaking out ….. not ok with this. I’m so glad you posted this video.

    Thanks buddy. Saw video about a week ago. Finally found my front axel drain and fill. Fluid was trans fluid, changed with 90 weight heavy oil. It was considerably low, not touching dip stick. Thanks! You increased the life of my axel.

    It takes some time for it to go through the pivot, especially when it’s cold. Don’t forget to take your grease gun to the pivot after you open the vent. I change my front end every hydraulic change. I use gear oil, the thicker the better. 👍

    This video is performing really well! I changed it at around 900 on my M6060, still looked clean. This is something that should be checked day one on getting a tractor, my bx was very low and I didn’t catch it for a long time. I only did check because of hearing other people talk about this issue. Appreciate you mentioning my channel! Excellent video Richie!

      I did a video last summer on my channel Ben and when I checked the level, it was low. I checked it after I brought the tractor home but hadn't run it in 4Wd. I was shocked at how low it was with just over 200 hours on the tractor.
      Since filling, I have checked twice and the level is right where it is supposed to be.
      I think Richies theory is spot on. Totally makes sense to me.

    My B7800 has a dipstick (yellow plastic) on the front axle, which looks very similar to yours. Industrial sight plugs are available for many threads, and it might be worth retrofitting the non-dipstick models, then you could check the level with a flashlight. My B7800 (2006 model year) had 570hrs on it and was a tad low when I got it. I did a full service on it with all Kubota parts from Messicks and used UDT-2 (7 gallons) as well, not cheap but cheaper than replacing the finals or worse. I do need to be more diligent about pre-flight checks, especially when it's sub zero out. Good video, hope it saves some tractor owners big repairs, Thanks!

  • @andysworld2188
    @andysworld2188 2 роки тому +8

    If you use your tractor to remove snow you should swap your front axle to the 85-90W gear oil. What happens is you are using it and working it in the cold. When you are done you park it and all the fluid got warm from working so it melts the snow. The gear oil is pretty thick and does not warm up as much as the hydraulic fluid that most manufacturers put in there. As everything cools it contracts and can suck that water inside your front axle. Their has been many people that have popped their dipstick out only to find their gears and front axle were all rusted up from water contamination. The thicker gear oil does not get as warm and you don't have that problem.

    Thanks for the info. When I did my 200 HR service on my 2017 BX I checked it. It was 1-2 qts low. My Kubota service manual says to "change" it at every 400 hrs. My fill plug on my Kubota 2380 for the front axle case is on top Driver's side. I also found a socket extension buried/stuck under the tractor and a miscellaneous bolt and washer just laying around. Can't remember where, but I wonder who is prepping these for delivery? Oh, and also, the height adjustment knob for the mower deck is just impossible to turn at times without a pair of large channel locks

    Ive had an issue with my 40 year old L where there would be too much pressure in the case when warm; causing fluid to blow by the seals. First I tried a plastic stand-up vent but it got torn off. I got a bolt with the correct thread and drilled a 90 degree 1/16 hole through the head and bolt body. This provides ventilation for expansion and contraction.

    Can’t go wrong keeping a close eye on your fluids. My truck isn’t always polished up, but you can bet the bank all of my fluids and filters are on point! Bought my b2601 brand new and there wasn’t a fluid on the machine that was right when I got it. The dealer I bought it from also needs to get there techs a new torque wrench. Ended up going over every bolt on the tractor after two chassis bolts and a rear wheel lug fell off just mowing with the belly mower. Ridiculous quality control. Fact is, we all make huge investments in these machines, take a few minutes and keep thing tight and topped off and you’ll get several thousand hours out of these tractors.

    My L3130 started leaking at the left front hub. The seal was bad so I replaced both sides. It was a bitch but doable. Had to drain a lot of fluid because it has to fill both hub gear cases also. I don't think the dealer shorted me on fluid because I checked it a couple of times a year. I think driving it on the road for 3 to 5 miles every so often did it. I now trailer it everywhere unless it is only a half mile or so. I think I went back with the Super UDT. Thanks for a good video.

    So, I’ve worked with 80w 90 gear lube before, and I’ve used Kubota super UDT. The latter falls somewhere between a typical hydraulic oil and an engine oil in apparent viscosity at room temperature, as I recall, and 80/90 gearlube is on the extreme end of viscosity, almost a grease rather than an oil. Can someone please explain to me how any piece of equipment can call for either of these products interchangeably in the manufacturer’s specifications?

    • @vdub1959
      @vdub1959 4 місяці тому

      I believe it comes down to the operating temperature where the tractor is located. If you feel more comfortable with a heavier viscosity oil, then use it. 👍🏻

    Speaking of maintenance:
    Thoughts on the manual often saying, (ex.) "Check/change every 200 hrs or every 1-2 yrs, whichever comes first." The years of ownership seems a little overblown, but how seriously should I be taking it? Thoughts?

      It’s a pretty good idea to go by the manual, checking on things like engine oil and hydro more often. A through annual servicing with regular greasing is typically good for most

    You have to check it hot not cold, because oil expands when hot, over filling can cause seals to leak, so don't overfill it cold.
    Seals leaking just a little bit will use oil and cause it to run dry, check it about every 200 hours, change it 800 hours.
