I played Death Stranding the other day and in game I was forced to be barefoot when I was on top of this snowy mountain and always wondered what is that like this video is a great realistic representation
If you go barefoot regularly your feet toughen up. Not just the skin on the soles but also the muscles within your foot that help give you balance and grip. You also get used to different temperatures, it's never too hot or cold. Honestly, stick with it and you'll wish you could become a full-time barefooter.
Great video! Different than many others, and very entertaining. I might even want to take off my Teva's next time and try it for myself. But... I'm not climbing Grandfather Mountain barefoot just yet.
I don't ever hike barefoot, but I wanted to test myself. I like being barefoot around the yard and stuff. Definitely wouldn't recommend this for a first barefoot hiking experience.
When I was your age, I was trying to handmake my own... shoes ! ("Will I completely destroy my feet by the end of this video?" Is an Excellent question ! )
I really recommend to start with shorter walks but do them every day. Check the state of your feet and what you actually feel with them. Note the development of your skin, muscle and circulation. If you suffer any wounds, give yourself a break and let them heal. It seems to be a common mistake of beginners to do too much at once. Start with ten or twenty minutes every day in an area that you really like. Proceed to more difficult trails later on, little by little. Yes it takes a lot of patience but your feet will be in a much better state and actually capable of handling trails like the one you did without pain. It looks like you did the equivalent of a marathon without any training ... which is not the best idea.
I agree. I kinda knew this going into the hike from research I've done, but I wanted to challenge myself for the video. I definitely will ease into it next time
I would highly recommend not starting immediately with long hikes. Eas into it. Start with small walks on kinda sharp grounds and try to walk longer and longer on them. After some time it's basically like walking with shoes. Of course stepping on thorns still hurts but ey. This is coming from someone who climbs outdoors barefoot and hikes long, with sharp rocked trails.
Looking for someone with hiking experience to do the full Linville gorge loop with me.. none of my friends aren't gonna do anything more than a day hike. 😂 Y'all hit me up!
Pretty dumb walking a mountain barefoot without working up to it and only likely to put people off and risk injury. I had been going routinely barefoot for several years before I tackled my first mountain, but now I wouldn’t do anything else.
Great video! I’ve always been curious, but am not patient enough to build up a callus. Thank for letting me live vicariously.
Thank you for watching!

Love your channel! Production quality and presentation is top notch! Keep at it and you're gonna blow up❤
Thanks so much!!
I agree with you. He’s been killing it lately.
Fun video! Grounding is great on grass. This makes my feet hurt just watching.
Thank you! Lol

Thanks! I definitely don't recommend doing grandfather barefoot lol
How long have you been walking bearfoot? I'm on year 2 and can say it's a long process dud. 😂 I love it no pain no gain.

Earthing cannot be done in shoes, sandals, flip-flops, etc. Bare feet only : 🦶🏼☺🦶🏼. Always through nature, so even through the mountains ❗⛰🌄🌲🌲🌲
Good job! I love hiking GFM. No way I could hike it barefoot. I can just barely do it with shoes.
It was brutal. I don't recommend it lol

I definitely know now to ease into it.
