Only one comment regarding the RPG-7. They are coming from countries backed up by Russia and former USSR, such as Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. Honduran army never got RPG’s, they use the M72 LAW

Shawn surprised he didn’t get more into the human trafficking ops the Cartels engage in. You got to go spend time on a ranch near a checkpoint and see the BP ops that go on chasing the coyotes and their patrons. Tons of pre teen girls from Asia. Shocking.

The group that kickstarted this wave of hyper-violence were the original Los Zetas who were special forces that broke away from the CDG. This group revolutionised the cartel war and brought a level of brutality, military organisation and ruthlessness that Mexico and the world had never seen before. It took the Mexican government, US government and 4 cartels that joined forces to stop them.

The guy that took over was z40 migael Trevino. He didn't have a military background. He just rose through the ranks by being ruthless. He started the group's downfall because of how unhinged he was. Don't forget the Zetas. I think the original members are all dead or in prison, now. But, they were essentially the Mexican equivalent of American Special Forces before deciding to become Cartel muscle, and then a cartel themselves. Most of them had received a lot training from the U.S. Military before going rogue. You can imagine them as cadre to the people that came after them, schooling them in military weapons and tactics as they came on with them.

When you discuss the modern cartel violence and mentality- it’s important to remember you’re talking about individuals who at some point in their “career” voluntarily left the human race. Some left at a young age before their brains were fully developed, but the point is these are no longer humans. They are void of all the characteristics that we attribute to a human. Even the most brutal warriors in history at least had honor. There’s no honor in the modern cartels. Just bloodlust and money.

It’s scary shit but I think it’s important to realize that this violence really started post 2006. Corruption and crime have been a problem since way before any of us but this level of violence is something that has been spreading since 2006. It’s a very active problem that wants to spread. But there are plenty of Mexicans still fighting to take control of politics in Mexico to undo this. It’s been very difficult

Only a Mexican can explain the true terrors tht happen in Mexico. But its also paradise. Learning self defense can make traveling alot safer. Move in groups, understand where and who you are around.
