I can confirm the Chinese in Mexico. My family is from the state of Guanajuato and my family who work at the factories have casually mentioned the owners are Chinese. And I’ve seen them walking around a couple of times.
In 2024 San Diego I have seen Asians driving cars with Baja California license plates. And for years there has been a Chinese restaurant with Spanish speaking Chinese staff.

I’m sure you probably won’t see this Ed but would you consider our government could be complicit to the same corruption that Mexico is dealing with? I mean someone has to be allowing this kinda stuff right? If the government REALLY wanted they could wipe out all the cartels in a week so why don’t they? What are the chances that someone in the US government is having their pockets lined?

I mean, lets be real, the drug racket is a trillion dollar business, why would anyone involved want that money to go away?.
Its money not just for the crooks but for people in power on both sides. You know what pisses me off as a mexican?, that we know full well that cartels as big and bad as they are painted to be, these sicarios get butchered by actual armed forces all the time, meaning that if both goverments came to an agreement to excise druglords from Mexico, they could potentially get it done in a couple of days tops.
When both goverments talk a lot but ultimately do nothing but to capture a single druglord here and there for the headlines, that paints a really clear picture that both are in to protect their cashcow while they pretend like they give a fck about the addiction crisis in the US and people in mexico living afraid of these criminals.

That thought occurred me to as well. I would not be surprised at all.
I was a military member and did a lot of counter drug ops work as an interpreter. It didnt seem like we were really trying to find the drug shipments and mostly harraseed fishing yolas.
Like with every " big fish" we.catch or every big bust we make, it makes no good difference on the streets of America. In fact, it is only getting worse.
I think we need to look within and reduce situations that lead people to drugs. Cartels ship.the crap here because we have the most users

All these issues are a direct result of drug prohibition in the US. If people could buy clean, accurately labeled drugs over the counter, the cartels wouldn't exist, overdoses would be rare, and we wouldn't have our constitution get trampled by cops enforcing BS laws (as often). The tax revenue on legal drug sales would more than cover the cost of dealing with the actual consequences of drug use and our neighbors to the south would have more stability and less corruption and crime driving the immigration crisis. Its a disgrace. The "War on Drugs" has caused more harms than unchecked drug use would have. In the end, drugs win the war, and everyone gets murdered by criminals and law enforcement, who are often the same people, thank you Richard Nixon!
How powerful is the cartel? That's a very good question to ask Anabel Hernandez, she the main person to ask. She's has multiple book base on the cartels.
