Shawn, ask your boss, the CIA that question, they’ll know the answer to that question!! The CIA is the king Pin of all the cocaine/drugs!! They make El. capo look like a street dealer!
As far as cartel involvement in politics, They were very much involved in the political defeat of Kary Lake in the Arizona gubernatorial race this past year, they're involved in the Mesa Police department, their investing money in housing development. So yes they're not just sitting on the other side of the border eating tacos.
I don’t have any secret or confidential information to reveal. But my dad who is now deceased was a former police officer in Houston Texas, and also a former private investigator who worked for several different high-powered clients in southeast, Texas, and also down in the valley area. He talked to a lot of DEA people as well as FBI and ATF people and was assured there is a lot of penetration into our culture of these drug cartels and not just from Mexico, and our politicians are aware and looking the other way purposefully
The politicians dont care because US government organizations are bringing in drugs to the US and selling them to the gangs . Oliver North was in charge of this back in the 1980s through the National Security Councils operational sub groups.
border patrol has to turn away like 20-30% of applicants because they are narco spies trying to infiltrate. that doesn't even include the ones who get paid off. it might even be higher

The exposure of these remote & rural areas only serve the cartels by creating more intimidation & fear to those citizens who live in these communities & those officers who work within these county lines exposing themselves & their families to extreme forms of intimidation, businesses faced with extortion by cartel gangs, leading to the inevitable fears of violence. Isn't it crazy/sad/ironic that these SF guys serve in/on these misc. SF/DEVGRU/Tier 1 Teams....where they nearly die and witness their own team mates die all due to certain "High Ranking Agency Official(s')" shady deal making.....only to then later leave said SF Team in order to spend a few more years contracting for the very same "Agency" protecting and transporting the very same "Assets" and their shady dealings which nearly got themselves killed and DID get their team mates killed only years prior.....THEN go on to leave the "Agency" and begin to speak out and take a stand opposing things such as the "cartels".....almost as if they seriously aren't damned well aware that these "cartels" have ALWAYS been created, conducted, and operated by that very exact SAME "Agency" whom their buddies died for/by/from, that they themselves nearly died from/by/for, whom they later contacted and dedicated themselves to then retired from?? Does nobody else find this repeating predictable popular pattern of certain individual "influencers" and/or "celebrity guest speakers" and/or "personal trainers/self motivator gurus" to be somewhat hypocritical and ironic?
They deffo will get into politics and the police like how the mob did back in the day. At the end of thr day money talks.
