I find “eye ball licking” cute…
I think that when our crested gecko is sleeping, its "eyelashes" are down, and when she (Denise) is awake, they're up. 💚🦎
mine also looks like that and ive noticed when asleep his eyes look slightly more sunken into his head (maybe bc the lashes are down), and when he's awake they seem to pop out more.
Agreed on! When our new and first Crested Gecko is sleeping, her eyelashes droop. It’s so adorable 🥰

I'm a snake breeder but at the last expo, during a long talk with a gecko breeder, I adopted a pet only dalmatian female. Just trying to make sure she's doing ok lol.
I always know mine is sleeping is when his pupil is suuuuper thin then when I tap on the glass it gets bigger and then he starts moving then Ik ive woken him up😭😭

Also, you'll know if they are sleeping because their pupils will be very slim. When they are awake and active, their pupils become very large

To tell when my crested gecko is sleeping, the part of her crest over her eyes(or her “eyelashes”) will droop down over her eyes. :)
I’ve noticed when my crested gecko is sleeping his eyes lashes usually kinda point down in a way too
Great video this morning. My Crested never fires up or down she just seems to stay the same color all the time but I love her colors. She still has her tail too. She does not seem to get scared easily. She goes up and down all over the tank.

Dexter definitely fires up much less now that he's an adult.

My geckos must be broken 😂🤣 both of my babies are usually fired up when they're asleep and fired down when they're awake and active

Mine always falls asleep everywhere I put her lmao I’ll let her sit in my giant plants for a nap in the afternoons, she also enjoys socializing with my leopard geckos through the glass for socializing since we don’t have another cresty yet. Super happy I’ve learned all of these things naturally makes me have more confidence in myself when it comes to her surviving. She’s almost always asleep or fired down it’s a dream having a chill one like her , hopefully she’ll have babies to spread the tame personality around :)

My gecko walks very slowly when he/she is hunting.
Actually my crestie is fired up at daytime and fires down in the evening and night. 😅 I asked its breeder, but she told me she has many of those cresties which are kinda "weird" (in a lovely way) about there coloration. So... the only way I can tell it's sleeping is when its eyeballs seem to fall in and the crown is kinda sink into its face. 😅🙈
I’m so glad i found your page i love your videos! I have two male geckos that were rehomed to me 5 days ago. They’re in seperate cages with proper humidity and temerpature. One fires up during the day when he’s asleep and fires down during the night and the other fires up during the night and fires down during the day. Is this anything to worry about?

Good Morning Elle. I am so glad I found your channel a few months ago. I look forward to watching your videos. Do you have any suggestions if my bearded don't like their baths?? It's getting warm here and I was able to take my babies out on their leashes... they love to go in the yard and for rides in the car.
Good morning! Zsasz hated baths at first, but she just got used to them. So just keep trying, make sure the water temp is nice and warm, and make sure the water is shallow. 😊

I can't wait to get my crestie. It's been a long time coming. I have my viv set up and I'm waiting to see if I can keep the plants alive before I order one. I'd hate to get one only to have his plants die off and not have money to get more.

Oh my goodness you receive concerned emails from owners seeing their crested gecko lick their eyeballs for the first time? Honestly, these people are absolute angels.
My crestie is never fired down while sleeping. Ever.
She's always super fired up when she sleeps.
I doubt you're crestie is actually sleeping or fired up then. Being fired down doesn't mean they get completely pale, just paler or duller than when they're fired up, and sitting still with smaller pupils doesn't always mean they're asleep. If your crestie is always awake during the day that's something you should look into but even if you're absolutely certain that they're fired up while sleeping, that's also a cause for concern. It could be something serious, like stress or an illness, that's making them unable to relax but it could just mean that the enclosure is too warm so that your crestie can't wind down enough.
We just experienced a heat wave where I live and that made my little boy look like he was constantly fired up and then in the evening his colors got crazy vibrant. It only lasted for a couple of days and he's been able to fire down now while he sleeps but if it's constantly warmer than 25°C/77°F you should find a way to keep it cooler.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm lecturing you, I'm just trying to be helpful even if it's been some time since you commented. Hope you and your buddy are doing well :)
My crested gecko loves to sleep in hides on the ground, is this normal? He has two hides further up, a coconut and a 3d printed one, but he rarely goes inside them and sleeps all day in a log or hollow rock on the ground. When he's awake he climbs up his tree, the walls, his ladder, etc.
hello, soon I am getting a crested gecko but every two weeks I switch houses with my parents and will be bringing the gecko with me and I understand that traveling so much can be stressful to the animal, what body language should I look for in case the gecko gets to stressed and needs a break
Within the last week my cresty has been wagging his tail when I pet him he hasn’t done that before and I also haven’t changed anything with his enclosure and he’s healthy. I’ve had him for 3 years now I was just curious if there would be a reason for that
thanks so much for this! i just got a monarch crested gecko and this really helped me out! i was wondering if you ever have used the blended gecko formula because that was what i was given where i bought my gecko but all the videos i have watched they are feeding insects to their geckos. what would you recommend for a younger gecko?? i’m scared if i try to give her insects she won’t know what to do
Hello! My crested gecko basically only eats the blended formulas. (Pangea is her favorite). I offer her bugs sometimes, but she's just not interested - she'll maybe eat 1 bug every 6 months at most. The crested gecko formulas are VERY healthy for them, so if that's all she wants to eat, that's ok. But you can try live bugs, too, if you want 😊

Crested Geckos are cool little lizards I always wanted one there's a lot of reptiles I always wanted I own a Corn Snake,Painted wood turtle and a Leopard Gecko but I want to have a Blue tongue skink,Bearded Dragon,Ball Python,Greek Tortoise and a Tegu too
i have a question i have a female crested gecko shes about 1 almost 2 and she still has never laid eggs im not sure if she burrys them but is this normal?
My gecko ran away
I got a crested gecko a few days ago. She likes to hide in a log to sleep. The first couple days she came out around 7:30 pm. Last night she didn’t come out until after midnight. Is this normal?
My crested gecko randomly flattened his body and stuck out his legs each direction and started shaking while I was holding him. He did that for about 15 second then started acting normal again. Do you know why.
Did he fall right before he did this? Usually they do this after a fall and I believe it's called a falling spasm or something like that, im still new to cresteds, so I'm still learning but the FB group I'm in has talked about this! If you arent already, join a few crested gecko fb groups! They have a lot of info!
I have a question. When your crested gecko is breathing very quickly while you are talking to him/her what is the meaning? Is there something to be concerned of or is this a normal behavior? And if this isn't normal what could i possibly do to help my little bug-a-boo (nickname. Real name is Manx) with this issue? If i could get an answer from those who have experience with these amazing reptiles that would be great. I am new to this and have done some research. But i really don't know if this is normal. I am trying to learn more in order to help him feel more comfortable and safe. Thanks everyone.

Hi elle! Today i had a very big scare, i went to spray my gecko and his enclosure and when i sprayed him he somehow blinked? It scared me because i thought his eyes might get stuck closed
Should i take him to a vet?

I know this is literally a year late but if you see this that’s a sign of aggression and it might drop its tail if it hasn’t already
Can I use UVB with that conversion set up?
UVB can't penetrante glass, unfortunately. UVA can, though (this is used for growing plants).
@@ellesreptiles okay awesome. Thanks Elle! I've done a small tank conversion and was wondering if they had anything for the top. I ended up knocking out the glass panel and cutting up an old lid. Love your videos so much!
