My leopard gecko is not eating it's mealworms at all I got him a week ago
Pls reply
Get a leachianus gecko
Off topic, but when are you getting a puppy? Been waiting for that upload. lol
I don’t even have a crestie but I’m still watching this
Same I have a leopard gecko and not a crest lol it
Thank you :)
that profile picture is absolutely legendary
I don’t have a crested gecko, I have a leopard gecko I just love watching all of your videos! ☺️
Same
Same
Same but I have a hamster!
Sameee
Same I have 2 Leo's
I finally got my first pet!! I adopted a jungle leopard gecko from the reptile rescue I volunteer with! thanks for making your videos, they really helped me learn about their care
That is awesome! Gizmoa and Minnie are half Jungle! :D
My crested gecko is always in the same spot in her tank, she hardly moves and she hardly looks like she eats anything. After watching this I now know she is too cold (I dont have any extra heat) so I've just bought her a deep heat projector, a thermostat and a light fitting. Hopefully that will get her eating more
So? How that worked out?
This video is music to my ears, thank you so much. I’m a new chahoua owner, had her for about a month and she’s been very sluggish and not eating much. I’ll adjust the heat and see if it improves :)
Ah good luck! Chahoua's will even deal with slightly higher temps 26-27oC, Drogo will lay under his UV lamp at that temp and absolutely love it. :)
i just got a crestie for the first time and your videos have helped me so much!!
found your channel and got a leopard gecko (I have one 6 year old "rescue" and a little juvenile mac snow) and now a wee crested gecko! Thank you for all your content it is amazing. super underrated!
Aww that's amazing! No problem :D
I started using the 25 watt Nano ceramic heat emitters by Zoo Med on my cresties 18×18×24 terrariums, and even tho the Nano bulbs are "meant" for 10 gallons or smaller, I've found them to be perfect for what I need! It gets too cold here in the winter, and the Nano bulbs on a thermostat have created this lovely temperature gradient and really taken the chill out of the terrariums. Definitely recommend to crestie owners!
do you have to lift the bulb at all or do you sit it right on top? also how hot does it get in the tank with the bulb?
This was something I applied this year to my Crestie. Here in Wisconsin we definitely need supplemental heat in the winter.
I was worried for a bit that my crestie wasn't being active until I went out into my living room at night and saw her jumping around, guess she really doesn't like us being awake when she is!
Yeah. My crested gecko is a bit slow cause its cold but she only starts moving a lot once all lights are out. She has to have it pitch black. My hamster prefers it like that too
I know that feeling I was concerned until I stayed up late one night without the lights on and all I could hear was her body slamming the glass and her branches and God knows what else 😅
@@thesoundofstatic9474 same! I don't mind the noise though. Thats not too noisy for me. I already have a aquarium filter running all night, a water fountain and a hamster constantly running on a wheel for most of the night.
@@user-cm2ev1in7k I reckon an aquarium would keep me up but then again I already have crestie body slams and a cornsnake who loves to rub herself against the polystyrene background or fail to climb things so might not be all that bad 🤣
@@thesoundofstatic9474 yes. The filter sounds can be annoying when it buzzes sometimes but overall the fountain and filter are actually somewhat relaxing.
The hamster is definitely most disturbing. If i don't place her wheel correctly it will keep hitying the sides of her bincage and thats so annoying.
Lyra is so pretty! Im getting one soon and all your videos are great and really helpful!
Aww thank you :D Yeah Crestie's are so awesome, good luck with yours :D
Thanks I got a crested gecko 3 months ago so this is a lot of help thanks🦎
I love watching your videos so I can make sure that I am giving correct information to people at my workplace (petsmart)!
That is awesome!
this is the earliest i have been omg only 15 seconds.. i just wanted to say, i'm getting a leopard gecko and your videos helped me so so soooooo much thanks for that ^^
Aww that's brilliant, glad I could help :D
Hi Rebecca!!!! I am a super big fan of your channel! I have been watching for about a year now and it has been REALLY helpful! I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate everything that you do! You are so sweet, kind and smart! Thank you! It would be my dream to get a reply! Stay safe and good luck in your future!!! 😁
I’ve just got a crested gecko a 6 month old orangey colored one she’s really cute these videos are really helpful
Not gonna lie, at first I thought the title was, "Why Your Crested Gecko Isn't Alive," and I was thinking, "Hm, I'm no expert, but..." So glad it was a happy, informative, and adorable video instead 😅
😂😂 that would be awkward haha. Thank you :D
Everyone in the comments please do your research and have the money for your reptiles and supplies before getting one!!! Many of you in here have been watching this wonderful woman’s videos for years but still aren’t absorbing the knowledge she tells you and end up abusing your animal by giving it the worst care possible
Woo crestie video! I am in the minority that has a crestie and not a leo that hangs out here but I honestly love watching all of your videos. Always nice to see both Lyra and Drogo too.
Ok I swear to god Im on my phone and my cat scrolls down so I see all my notifications, then tapped on this video we watching it together
that's amazing 😂😂
I run a Zoo Med Nano 25W basking bulb at the top of mine to give a small basking temp area of 28 C, as the spread is small and narrow it soon cools to give a temp of 25/26 either at the top of the tank. This was recommended to me and I am aware you do not want to expose them to too high a temp as they can stress. My tank is a 40 x 40 x 80 with a 15w jungle dawn and shade dweller so lots of room to get away from the heat if the animal wants to.
I just rescued a crested gecko! I’m so excited! My father and I are building a 6foot heigh and 3 ft wide cage!
Thank you so much for giving me fax for leopard geckos and crested geckos Thank you and I'm speaking from my heart
aww no problem :D
Thank you for the video I appreciate it actually omw to fix this issue
Awesome, glad it helped :D
LOVE YOUR VIDOES
I got my juvenile crestie last october and i think im doing a good job. Im never done watching informational videos though! (i watched all your videos before i got him and im still watching lol)
Same!
You can never know too much about crested geckos ;)
aww thank you :D Yeah the reptile hobby is always changing so I'm always looking for new info and keeping up with it all too :D
I do not have a crested gecko but I still love your videos
♥
Awesome video definitely going to try a dhp as the CHE doesn't seem to be enough for my crestie. He always hides he never comes out and trying to get him to eat is a nightmare. I will give this ago and see if there is any change
Thank you I think you saved my gecko's life
I have a crested gecko 🦎 and so thanks for the video ✅
Video idea: rating reptile brands/chain stores
Great video! I've been wanting a cresty for a while and I've been doing research and saving up. The only setback I have is that I live in Oregon (USA) and in the summer it gets HOT. I have some trouble keeping the leos cool in the summertime, so thats really put off a cresty...
Thanks :) Ah yeah, I really struggled this last summer as our summers were getting up to 28-32oC, which is super hot for england. I ended up getting mini fans to go on top of the tanks, but it was incredibly stressful. I may get a portable air con for this summer - sadly in england air con in houses isn't common, so it gets hot!!! lol
@@leopardgeckotalk ok, so it is infact alright to put a fan on the tanks? I was going to but wanted confirmation first.
Thank you so much! I don’t own a created gecko but without your videos, my Leopard gecko would probably have bad husbandry! I love your videos so much!
aww thank you :D
This is pretty helpful since my gecko doesn’t really do much besides planking upside down on her wall for about 4-6 hours and doesn’t let me handle her (or even look at me for that matter...)
I really like your voice and accent 💚
Surprise surprise I don’t have a crested gecko. My leopard gecko Larry just shedded and I got good picture lmao
haha well i appreciate you clicking on this video :)
@@leopardgeckotalk thx lol
Have you ever seen a vinegaroon? I saw one for the first time and it’s amazing
I agree, I think they are super cool.
Yeah, I want one but my parents aren’t o keen
@@meganpinnington3166 Talk to your parents about their care so much that they get annoyed and tell them all the reasons you should get one. It worked on my mum with a hamster
Haha I have tried that but my mum said in a year or two when I move out I can get one
I live in California which is typically very warm and sunny, but now in Winter at night her tank can drop to low 60s Fahrenheit so I’ve been trying to keep her warm for her comfort. She hasn’t been eating nearly as much. I have a CHE but it only keeps a small corner of her tank 75 degrees, and lately she’s been hanging out and sleeping on the ground far away from the CHE :(
Thank you so much for this video! I have had my gecko for a while now and she’s always been fine, but now that I’ve changed her tank she won’t come out anymore... I noticed the temperature being a bit too low compared to what you’ve said is ideal so I will add a heated mat soon! Hopefully it’ll make her feel better about the tank? I’ll update!
Heat mats are completely unnatural insufficient. They don’t heat the air. Lamps are far more beneficial.
This guide has good information on ideal temps for crested geckos.
reptifiles.com/crested-gecko-care/crested-gecko-temperatures-humidity/
@@nightinggale6470 I don’t think I can have a heat lamp bc I’m using a fish tank that I put vertically (I followed SerpaDesign’s tutorial) so the heat wouldn’t go through the glass and if it did I’m afraid it would make the glass super hot:/ and I actually did a temperature check with a thermometer and turns out I have a great temperature!
@@violetteberteloot4087 I highly doubt the ambient temperature in the enclosure is warm enough. Make sure your thermometer is digital. I recommend getting an enclosure with a screen top.
my gargoyle has gone off of food for the past few weeks and this has been quite helpful, I'm going to buy a deep heat projector to replace his current CHE, after almost 2 years of owning him had no idea that's what you were supposed to use instead! He's been recommended different uvb as well so it's getting rather pricey but if any of it helps it will be worth the price!
Did he start eating again? I'm having the same problem with mine right now
@@rokslapnikb.9699 Yep! Took him to the vets in the end (complete waste of time and money haha, there was nothing wrong with him). Replaced my uvb and got a deep heat projector, he's happily eating again. Still incredibly picky and will randomly flat out refuse to eat some flavours of food but he's eating again and that's all that matters
Hello , I was wondering have you tried the new jelly pots for a treat
Can you use a dip heat project bulb. With a different lamp, or do you need to use there lamp?
Your love for your reptiles is Better than good 😌
Please can you recommend a good heat mat to go on the side? What is the probe? Our crestie is abit cold lately well this winter. Its showing, previous winters she has been fine
What kind of thermostat do you prefer?
What kind of plants do you use for your crested gecko tank
Would a ceramic heat lamp work with a 25 watt ceramic no light bulb.
Really random question but where do you put your crested geckos when you clean out the tank or something? Xx
Hey Leopard Gecko, where can I get the magnetic food bowls that you have? I’ve looked at places and have had a few but most end up either falling or can’t handle weight.
I got a question, i have a crested gecko and one of the tails are crooked and im worried about it, the nail is curving the opposite way from the others, its facing upwards and instead of facing down
Thankyou 😃. This was exactly what I needed. My gecko is much slower than usual. I figured out that it was probably the temperature as it is quite cold. I have another question though. My gecko seems much skinnier. She hasn't lost any weight though. I just upgraded her to a very large enclosure. Do you think its something to do with it?
Ah perfect timing then :) Hmm it's interesting that she looks skinner but hasn't lost weight - is she eating/finding her food in her new tank? If not, it may be good to hand feed her a little, just to ensure she's eating :)
@@leopardgeckotalk she did eat some crickets. I don't think she found her actual food so i moved her food to a more accessible spot.
What lamp bracket are you using with the DHP?
I have my gargoyle at 82° for her basking spot and she is thriving!
Subbed and like but leachies are just awesome
I’m getting a crestie soon, and I’m so glad I got heating. My house can drop to below 65 at night and can be 65 in the day and that’s way too cold for them in my preference. And if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get your crestie from? I’m having trouble finding ones that aren’t from pet smart and stuff and I’m not sure where to start.
If you are based in the uk swell reptile and global geckos are good places, and there are some good pets at homes which I would be comfortable buying from ( I got my from a good pets at home). But if you do buy from pets at home make sure you do go to a good one as from what I have heard there are some bad ones. Leopard gecko got her’s as a rescue/rehoming situation I think. If you are based in the US I think you could go to josh’s frogs I think have crested geckos. And then for anywhere you could try adoption, local reptile shop, reptile expo(not many in the uk and with Covid this option probably won’t work) or just a local breeder. Really hoped this helped.
Morph Market is a site where even small hobbyists buy and sell.
crested geckos are just so cute!
yeah 🥰 i love them so much, such gentle creatures!

Hiii! I’ve been following you for a while now because I have a leopard gecko and I need some tips. I need to know what to use for the bedding. The first day I got my gecko I put like this dirt it wasn’t like Little Rock’s it was just like fertilizer (but it wasn’t fertilizer) idk if that makes sense😂 but when I would feed my gecko she would get some of the bedding in her mouth. So I switched to paper towel but idk if that’s good or bad. Also I need to ask you where do you get your stuff at?😂 I love your setup it’s like my dream setup for my gecko! I’m sorry to say but I have one more question. Can you change your setup? Because my parents tell me that I can’t change the geckos tank and I want to change it so bad! Anyways thank you so much I’ve been following your tips !❤️ Thank you!
My crested gecko that I brought home a week ago from a previous owner hasn’t been eating, and I monitor his poop and don’t see any. How long does it typically take them to eat when moving to a new home? (I feed him the same food he’s been use to btw)
This is happening to me but for my Leo. Do the same things apply?
Can you do one of these for leopard gecko. My leo is constantly hiding and running away
One of my cresties is a total weirdo. I noticed, after I moved her to her big tank, that she slept in her suction cup that the food cup goes into (at that time she was still small enough to squeeze her whole body in). She started doing that everytime there was an off day inbetween w/o feeding and the suction cup was empty.
I felt bad taking her sleeping spot from her everytime I put the food cup in, so I ended up putting a second cup in there just for her to sleep in 😆.
She's now way too big but she will always have one part of her body in the cup, sometimes she'll be sticking to the glass and just hanging her head in there and propping her two little feets in there as well.
She has so many freaking hides in her tank. I'm partially butthurt because I put so much effort into building this setup, I built the entire tank from scratch (I mean, I made the actual tank itself to my specifications) and of course made a backdrop, so I was able to put 3 cork rounds in there that she could choose from and I also put her little coconut in there after I moved her, because she had always slept in that and I wanted her to have something familiar in the new tank to ease the transition somewhat. So yeah, she has 4 hides plus plants in there and chooses to sleep right on the front glass in her beloved suction cup. Such an oddball. She really has a personality. Everytime I talk to her she tilts her head around like a cat or dog, it's so strange.
Sadly, I'll have to rehome all of my animals at some point this year though because we are moving back to germany and I'm just not going to do that to them. It breaks my heart to let them go, but I just couldn't send them over, if something were to happen I'd never forgive myself. My babies 😭
I'm trying to see the silver lining, at least I have ample time to be very selective with the homes they will go to. Best bet I am quizzing prospective buyers before I would ever sell. I just... I haven't been able to make the ads yet. It's killing me.
I have a couple cresties I intend to breed and for some reason I can’t find any info on brumating them BUT if I *do* want to breed them do I need to brumate them? or should I just keep the same temp throughout the year?
My crestie has a small white tag/bump in almost the exact same place your Lyra does. Near the base of tail on the left behind his leg. Do you know what this is?
I find when using a heat emitter I lose most of my humidity. How do you deal with that? My humidity will be at 80-85% and when I turn on the heater it’s severely drops. To the point where my plants look dry
Can you do a video on getting your baby crested gecko not to be afraid of you or of handling (and you). Please.
I have a 2 in length and foot and a half in depth and 2 foot in height. What heat should I have my heating pad on the roof
I don't think its very likely that I'd get a crested gecko, but I can't deny they r so cute! ;D
haha yeah i love them so much 🥰
I watched a video not long ago where you mentioned u had not been able to find a leopard gecko tail wiggle. Well i just happened to film my giant Apple wiggling away while chasing a cricket.
Thank you for this information It's really helpful.
I just got a baby Crestie and I need some help! It's so hot over in the UK currently as I'm sure you're aware. I've been using a heat lamp and uv light but it seems to be making the tank way too hot at 30c. Do you have any advice for what I can do?
you could get a thermostat for your heat lamo and set it to about 20-25 c
I just got my 2 baby crested geckos how long after you get them into there new tank before they will eat and get back to normal.
I have a male crestie...I have the exo terra 45x45x60...it has the hood and during the day I use daylight heat bulb (during summer that's a 15w and in winter a 25w) and the jungle uvb by exo terra...its on from 8am to 6pm...the gradient during the day is around 28c at the top and 20c at the bottom and at night it drops to around 18c/20c at the top and 17c at the bottom...is this OK? He's pretty active at night and I often hear him splatting and thumping around his viv...I'm concerned he's a very picky eater though. I'm also getting another leopard gecko (just lost my old boy Loyis who was around 17-20 years old and yes I was doing everything wrong with him...I'm doing everything better this time I hope (going for the deep heat projector and the shade dweller uvb etc...
Hi I'm one of your subscribers can you please make a video on how to care for a bearded dragon I'm getting one and I don't know what to do
Same with my crestie, is my first year with him and i notice that he ate less than this summer, but strangely he gained more weight in winter (26 g to 34 in 2-3 months, this summer he was 22 to 26 but he ate more lateralis and that thing makes me confused)
i'm working on setting up my leopard gecko tank and i'm wondering if you have any recommendations for uvb lights?
Arcadia’s shadedweller.
Hi my gecko has these black spots on it, I don’t know what morph it is so might this be his morph or does he need to go to a vet. Also I agree with what you said about heating. Not sure if u mentioned it but my gecko has uvb. And when I saw him in the shop he did nothing. Now with the uv he is really active. So uv might be really useful.
I went to my vet and my leopard gecko has black spots on it. The vet said it might be stuck shed she looked at them and they ended up being spots. She told me that black spots of old shed would be rough and feel like a scab. But if it feels flush with the skin and isn’t hard then it’s just little spots. My crestie has them too
hi! do you notice the black spots moving at all? if so they might be mites. if not i would still play it safe and have it checked out by a vet.
Oh right my geckos aren’t rough. So is it just likely to be his morph
I don’t see it moving but I will see a vet.
Dalmatian morphs have black spots. If they aren’t moving it might be the morph.
What kind of dirt do you have in your cresties terrarium? We just have moss, but i think dirt would be best since he’ll crawl under it and his crickets will too so he can’t find them.
Reptisoil or organic top soil without fertilizer are a couple of good options.
I'm in the process of buying a heater for my crested gecko so that way its not super cold but on the other hand it only eats when I feed mine crickets from my tongs and it only eats the treat on a stick, other than that it does not eat from the food bowl and its always terrified every time I pick it up without grabbing it, I just kinda cup it onto my hand and try to guide it onto my hand and it does race up my arm every time but I've had my crestie since November of last year and I'm sad that its still scared of me 😔 idk what I'm doing wrong, I would literally list everything that my Crestie has been doing but that'd be too much detail lol
I have 6 crested geckos and 5 are quite active especially at evening and night and those I had since a few months old then I bought an adult female from a breeder that I rarely see move and wonder maybe is it because the breeder bought one that was about 2yo might not have been socialized but the 5 young ones I handled them often so not sure if that made a difference?
All are at the same room temperature also.
Anyhow it's a mystery not sure why that one hides alot and doesn't move much.
I saw your insta post about the beetle, and what size enclosure do they need to live in?
This is the setup I made for mine when they were grubs ua-cam.com/video/-gZkoJKSIGQ/v-deo.html I think it was a tub from Wilko or B&M, like 45 x 35 cm or something.
When they're beetles they do well with heat and light, so I moved them into a terrarium where I could safely add a heat lamp :)
Ok so I I just got a leopard gecko a few months ago he is really tame but I want you to make a video on how to handle a leopard gecko in the open because I have a front opening so my hands stay very Close to the tank when I am handling him and I just want to know how to handle him in the open near people so I would appreciate it if you made a video about it
I have a juvenile leo and am I still watching about crested geckos? Yes
Just had this happen in Canada. Put a light on a light post attached to the enclosure and have it sitting around 74 degrees now. Much happier gecko
I would aim for a bit warmer near the top

I struggle with my crested gecko biting a lot. Though I can’t figure out if it’s cause he’s angry, stressed or just ✨excited✨
It only happens some of the time, all other times he seems very happy and healthy and is not afraid of humans whatsoever...
Do crested gecko rather be housed together or alone what’s best for them.
Also, when you said you’d like to upgrade drogo’s enclosure with a deep heat projector, is that in addition to the UV light?
Yes :) UV produces UVB and UVA, and the heater produces IR-A and I-B (and IR-C through convection), so they're different wavelengths :)
@@leopardgeckotalk Oh I knew this much! I just haven't seen anyone running both together with chewies that's all. Interesting, i'll give it a try :) thanks for replying, very helpful and a relief haha!
2 geckos right in closure right next to each other share the heat source equally. One very active the other not so much.
Do you know if Arcadia products can ship to the US?
I believe LightYourReptiles and Custom Reptile Habitats carry some of their products :)
Just out of curiosity, if i were to have a crested gecko in a hot environment where in the summer it averages around the mid 90s and sometimes gets to 100, is it possible that i could cool somehow cool it's tank to keep it at the temp it needs to be like a cooler by it's tank? Im just asking because i have been getting an interest in crested geckos but im afraid that where i live it could get a little too hot for it.
I’d imagine it’s cooler inside than outside. Do you have air conditioning?
Deep heat projectors 👍🏻 all my new cal geckos have them & are happy and healthy .
I finally got my first crested gecko! I’ve been researching for the past couple months on them, and my parents finally allowed a reptile. My room does stay around 75F, is a heat projector still needed?
Get a thermometer to make sure :) I just got mine last week and I also purchased a really handy temperature controller that’ll turn the lights off when it gets to a certain temp!!!
Make sure the thermometer you get is digital, not analog.
I would get a heat source, a spot with higher temps can be beneficial for them.

Yo. this isn’t related to the video but my teacher has 2 (class pet) leopard geckos in the same tank and I’ve been telling her to separate them, but she won’t. Do you have any tips?
Is the ZooMed skyscraper 18x18x36 a good terrarium for cresties? I'm going to do a first-time reptile owner in the next couple of years and I'm gathering my supplies and this looks like a great size enclosure but I'm not sure of the quality because there are no reviews.
It’s great! Just make sure you fill it with plenty of foliage.
Thank you so much! I’m planning to fill it up with naturalistic clutter and decor! I was just asking to make sure it’s stable because I hear about exo terra and zilla a lot more than zoo med!
Will you please make a video of how not to be afraid of insects I have a leopard gecko and I really want to hand feed her cause I feel it would build our bond but I have a phobia of insects
Simply start picking them up. You can start slow, maybe use tongs first, then pick up one or two with your hand for short periods of time. You will get used to it soon enough, it really isn’t that bad.
hi ! i just wanted to know if you find escaped isopods often, and if youd recommend having a clean up crew for my future crestie :)
I have a bio active enclosure. The isopods don't escape. If they do its very rare. I would recommend having a clean up crew. It leaves your enclosure much tidier. They clean all the mold and poop so you don't have to worry about cleaning that. I love springtails.
Yeah I've never had them escape, however I imagine if they did they wouldn't last long as they need quite high humidity to survive :)
@@leopardgeckotalk thanks :)))
Early!!! Yayyyy!
Do you feed your crested geckos insects inside their viv, with tongs or without or outside in a separate feeder box?
I’m not sure what she does, but: feed inside the enclosure. You can use tongs, hand feed, and/or let them hunt.
My crested gecko was a pretty good eater but lately refusing to eat the powdered diet. It's has been a little cooler here but still 23 to 24 celcius so it's definitely not too cool right. He ate 2 silkworms yesterday but refusing any pangea or repashy 😵😵
Can i use a UVB for a crested gecko... Because I’m confused if I can still feed Pangea...
Yes you can still feed pangea along with uvb.
“It can get pretty chilly in England” *shows the low temperature of 18c while the lowest I’ve had is -3 in Vancouver*
Also I’m planning on getting a 13 watt 12” led jungle light but I’m worried it might now be enough and I’m worried that my two cresties will go on the screen lid and get burned by the light is there a solution??
