- War Thunder has a lot of small details that not a lot of people notice. I've compiled a whole bunch of them in this video. This video is different than what I usually post on this channel, but it was a load of fun to make. Maybe after this video, you'll start to pay more attention to the game!

A couple of things to note:
At 12:52 I said there were 6 Italian planes, which is not true. If you include the bombers, there are 13.
If you want to go into free-view mode in the hangar (15:10), you can press Alt F2 if you have an Nvidia graphics card.

The audio of your commander is randomized when you call arty on yourself. I've had the operator on the other end even reply something along the lines of "Are you sure? Alright, good luck" before.

If the tank explodes as seen on video it means the player hit the battle button and will respawn.
But if the tank and its smoke dissapears from sight it means the player left the match.
That's a pretty neat feature! Thanks for letting me know!

The S.M.79 serie 4 and the S.M.79 bis/N are exclusively part of the german tree and can only be played if you unlocked them back then.

You forgot that British Curchhills used to be able to engage their flight drive... it wasn't very fast (that would spill the tea) but it worked... sorta.

I dropped one of a 25km height in a custom map and heard a sonic boom. Ironic seen as for the longest time UK didn’t have any supersonic aircraft.

Ahh, so you have a dirty bush.
*By the way you didn't cover nor list some stuff, so here goes, some of these were tested and confirmed by me in custom battles with friends:*
If you are holding the Alt key on the minimap, you can zoom in and out by scrolling your mousewheel
If you are spectating someone, the Insert and Delete keys zoom in and out respectively and Pg Up and Pg Down changes the spectator target
If your Fuel Tank is on fire, you can actually drown it by shoving your engine on the water, it will extinguish the fire
Disabling the Stabilizers on some tanks does actually help, in the Mk3/Mk7 Centurions, if you pivot turn with the Stabs off, the turret will turn at the speed of the hull, which makes it easier for shooting players around you without waiting for the whole turret to turn, this also goes for fast vehicles such as the Kpz/MBT-70 and others.
HEAT-FS shells deals more damage by creating more spalling if it hits the Turret Ring or any module on the tank
Tank modules does have armour, but you can only see the armor values of the cannon breach, which is around +400mm
If your commander gets knocked out, the gunner will take his place and the american voice will (apparently) change
If you're playing with an american tank and load HESH, the commander will say "Load HEP", this is because in the US, HESH (High-Explosive Squash Head) shells are called HEP (High-Explosive, Plastic)
For some reason 500kg bombs can't kill an IS-2 unless it falls directly over or under it
Crew members can ricochet lighter shells such if they have high enough vitality and the shell doesen't penetrate with as much energy (such as penetrating the frontal armor plate of the King Tiger with a Centurion's APDS shot)
When you are repairing, the cranking noises you hear are actually for some reason your driver automatically shifting gears front and neutral.
You can bind a key to turn off your engine on tanks
You can kill yourself by ammo racking an enemy tank
If you destroy the Drakon/Raketenjagdpanzer ATGM Launcher, it can actually still fire for some odd reason
There's a chance that if you hit said vehicles above and the Calliope launchers rockets, they'll explode violently like an ammo rack, but externally, and (in the case of the Calliope Launcher) will hurt/kill other players around, friend or enemies.
HEAT-FS shells will not overpenetrate any soft target, however, if you shoot wooden/metal poles and thin targets, the metal jet will actually keep going forward despite you're clearly seeing the shell exploding, and will act as another HEAT-FS shell if it hits another vehicle.

The one about killing yourself by ammo racking an enemy tank I knew from... well... let's call it "past experiences"
@Euro127 That's more of a visual glitch rather than a feature, it used to be a feature, then it was removed.

The IS-2 is true, found it on a public match. Me (KV-1), the is-2 and a american tank destroyer(this one died on the explosion) were nearby, the only comment was that Stalinium is stronk

Some more ideas.
Turning off the stabilizer can allow a tank to shoot lower than its depression by shooting while the gun depresses while braking and vice versa. Powerful enough rockets can destroy your own propeller if u are too close to the ground.
Some british tanks like Chieftain's two piece ammo projectile are immune to blowing up since its only a projectile without propellant or gunpowder.
Shooting MG on a dead tank's black husk can make on fire and open the hatches if it hadn't already before. Shooting the dead tank's husk that didn't despawn with MG and cannon both can make them blow up and despawn if they were blocking your way (inconsistent tho but I'm pretty sure those were players who left the match because the tanks had been there for minutes not seconds).
Tanks can get dustier, muddier or snowier depending on terrain.
Armour degradation is definitely a thing in the game but its very hard to notice because u can't see the hp of the enemy's armor plate degrading.
Superficial structural steel boxes or turret cloths can be damaged on tanks by surviving an enemy round or by being shot with an HE round.
You can die from a ricocheted shell and from explosion of nearby tank's ammo rack.
Shooting something very fast with an inferior SPAA gun can lead to some rounds bypassing enemy armour on the sides (inconsistent and more likely to be a bug).
Using simulator gunner's aim introduces parallax effect while aiming.
Enemy tanks can be damaged by extreme ramming or stepping.
If the armor being shot is both moving and rotating, it can drastically reduce penetration chances (inconsistent).

You can also allow the parallax to occur in RB via a settings in options but don't do that.
I once killed a maus using a 12.7mm machine gun on my t28. The bullet went into the 75mm gun’s barrel, richochetted into the fighting compartment, and killed two crew members.
Sheesh! So much for that 188 ton tank!

Russian has the rarest ammo type that only available on them called shrapnel shell.
Pretty sure the rarest shells are the Stalinguided shells on the KV-2

The French have the most expensive repair costs in the game. So expensive that 5 kills without premium in one, does not even cover the repair cost.
At some point in time you could go a match without dying in the britbong comet, get 5kills and still barely make a profit
@@esilva4973 I feel like thats more the comets sl reward than getting barrel shot and having to pay for partial repair after the match.
I've gotten 9 kills the the French Crusader mk2 and gotten like 12k without any boosters AND before the victory bonus.

Only reasonable cost was, when Lorraine 40t stayed at 6.7 because then it was OP. Now at 7.7 it's trash. Imagine fighting some prototypical '50s era tank, while fighting alongside British MBT. The funniest thing it doesn't perform very well at 7.7 especially when it gets full uptier to 8.7, then just R.I.P. Even it's not that fast at 7.7-8.7

The AMX-30 Super was a modernization of the AMX-30 by GERMANS that got scrapped since no one wanted to modernize them.
The AMX-32 and AMX-40 were never produced or sold with stabilizers according to GIAT and the AMX-32 was never actually produced only having 6 prototypes.
As for the Leclerc the gun isn't even stabilized, the whole fucking turret is.
It's almost as if Gajin belives the jokes about France actually being incompetent at war and is biased against France being decent.
Also they nerfed the 100 and 120mm guns silently in an update. They dropped 30mm of pen on both of them, 300mm on the 100mm gun to 270mm of pen. With no BR or Repair changes it actually bade them unable to pen a large number of tanks and they still can't as it hasn't been reverted.

I got some interesting Facts about War Thunder:
-You can land a plane on another plane, in the air
-You can't use an amphibious tank to stay above water, both tanks will drown
-You can destroy atgms (and maybe rockets) by shooting them with your gun/ machine gun
-ESS (or Engine smoke) won't stop Thermals from seeing you
-"Advance to the Rhine" is physically cut off from the surroundings by an invisible wall

Nice vid, when playing tank simulator, a tank equipped with a laser range finder will automatically set the gun to the range it has detected, up to 4km.

Another useful tip: while holding ALT key you can use your scroll mouse wheel to zoom in/out on the minimap
In air rb you can hold J on the runway if you are fully rearmed and repaired to change your loadout.

If you turn the stabilizer off, you can use the hull to make the gun turn faster (by turning the hull in the same direction). May be useful in an emergency.
Also, sometimes crew members still die and modules get damaged when you run into objects with tanks like the ASU-57. Not sure what causes it.
Also turning off stabilizer gives possibility to use brakes to exceed normal gun depression. ASU-57 is very light spg and It's normal for it to be damaged by anything.

its jaw dropping to know most of the players dont know about there is fire exstinguisher for some planes and you can assign a button for using it. Also many players doesnt know about MEC which is improving some aircrafts performance a lot.

The reason why that specific helicopter can fly without a tail is because of the dual rotors on top

if your tank has hydronaumatic suspension and your engine gets knocked out you can still use it.
although im not sure if daddy gajin has fixed it since the sweddish up date. haven't played in a while. waiting for etsm to make more montages
its a destroyable module now(or part of one that can be destroyed), so doesnt really matter anymore

You forgot MEC (Manual Engine Controls). They're essential for bombers or multi-engine aircraft.
They can only be used in RB and SB.
11:48 Bonus info: you could've feathered your prop, or lowered the prop pitch to 0% to reduce drag on the propeller (Yes even if it's broken ;))

There’s so many little audio details in this game that I never noticed until I bought a high end headset. At hangar you can hear talking on a radio somewhere. Most impressive thing I’ve noticed though is that when repairing your tank (when things aren’t blowing up all over) you can hear them use different tools
imagine being a loader and the last thing you see is an APFSDS blowing through the breech
You can also shoot down planes with an artillery-strike. I did it twice on my own team (by accident, duh!).
The other funniest things that I´ve done:
Bomb a fighter.
Shoot down a dive-bomber with a Brummbär
Shoot an MBT in the barrel with APFSDS and going through the breech.
One-shot kill an Abrams with a Puma.
Destroy multiple MBTs with a BMP2 within seconds (just the autocannon)
Trading blows with a T95-SPG in a BMP1 and winning after being hit thrice!

su 85 forest camo has boot marks on the top of the hatch to show how the crew got in
On american desert, shooting the church bell with a tank or plane will make it ring
the train on that map had a modeled interior
In alaska, the interior of buildings are lit and have stuff /scenery inside of them
R3 was never an AA, it actually had access to apds in real life
there are two naval guns on ground vehicles, the su 100Y and the otomatic
M901 despite not being able to float has a plate that pops out for treading water
Before ammo ejection existed in game, the ZSU 57 2 was able to to fill its rear basket in game with shell casings

The last one I have is that in ground forces sim battles, the m22 is the only tank allowed to play in higher tiers while all the line ups that gaijin creates are relatively BR balanced. While the m22 is able to face the panther and tiger I, thus if one is sneaky enough, it cna go up against it and the cats can't lower their gun low enough to kill it while the m22 has enough pen to shoot into their sides
Okay i thought i would already know all of these, and i did know most of them, but the PBY landing gear thing is the best one of them all
1. rangefinding with binocular (new)
2. aiming with binocular
3. stabilizing aim by press brake (useful for non stab tank)
4. increasin turret rotation speed by rotating hull
5. sturmpanzer 2 can kill anything in top tier as long it hit tank side or below

Smoke shells fired from a launcher can also kill enemies, but so far i've only killed a gaz truck lol, Smoke canister hit gunner on the head😂
If you press alt + f4 you can toggle hull machine gunner view

because smoke is actually a white phosphorus round, it should also count as a chemical weapon that damages any non sealed tank crew.
as the airborne phosphorus combines with moisture in the eyes, lungs, and on the skin to create phosphoric acid.
fun fact: you can actually use the alt-numpad thing anywhere but you'll get different symbols
you might get the standard symbols from the ASCII code sometimes, including everything on your keyboard.
In CMD and some other software, alt+3 is a heart

If you buy the German Churchill you will get a free white only balkenkreuz decal, and if you buy the Pz. II DAK, you get a free Afrika Korps emblem decal. There are a few more tanks that you can buy for GE that come with a free decal as far as i know

The bracketed letters on the German captured tanks aren’t exclusively for captured tanks, just tanks with foreign origin like the Pz 38(t), regardless if they were captured or not. The Hetzer and the 38(t) were imported from Slovakia after the German invasion in WW2

Watching this I went from "everybody knows that", through "meh, who cares", to "wow, that's cool" 😁
Iirc turning off your stabilizer does have its use. If there's a tank behind you, you can turn off the stabilizer and turn the hull quickly while turning the turret, the barrel will reach the target far faster. Then you just gotta turn it back on - at least that's what I've been told.
the hull-mounted machine gun always works, for instance, when the commander dies the co-driver will shoot the machine gun when you press the button
Not for most tanks. For example, the Shermans, Panthers and T-34s all have hull-mounted machine guns, but none of them can be fired.
@@skDoger i mostly play german tanks, it works on them...also add the fact that ihaven't played war thunder in 2 months so i don't know if that changed

@@isiam55 I think you can. But there's a fun of it's own when the controller is vibrating like crazy when you get artied or fire machineguns and big guns. NOT the crazy button combinations to play the game to it's full extent,though.

You can lock on and even fire at some projectiles such as missiles when using an ozelot.
You were once able to hear the voice chat of teammates on Warthunder Xbox edition.
The E-100 is the rarest tank in Warthunder. I've only ever seen one in-game.
If you have premium, you can the decrease the condition of your camo to 0% and disguise yourself amongst destroyed teamates in battle.
Dropping torpedoes on enemy ground targets prevents a bomb warning from appearing on their screen.
The Maus can fire 88mm rounds despite only having 120mm and 75mm cannons. I highly suggest using these rounds as they peirce any armor from any distance. While I highly suggest not using the Maus to begin with.

Fun fact: yes, the French air tech tree has no biplane. But did you know that the US one didn't have any either for a long time. Indeed, the F3-F2 wasn't considered by the game as a biplane (so you couldn't really use it for any event or achievement requiring one, such as the French "dork" decal from WWI).
Fun Fact. If you ammo rack a big enough player In an open top TD, you will die from the explosion (you have to be right next to it)(I suggest testing it with american or british TD in test on Panther D or King Tiger

If you land on a carrier with a deck based plane, it will hook on to the rope and stop faster than other non carrier based planes and if your tank gets dirty you can also clean it by going in the water.
black shark can fly perfectly without tail is because the rotor that suppose to be put on the tail on other heli design is placed on top of the main rotor instead

I did NOT know about ALT-Click on Mini-map to ping enemies. Super helpful.
Rain also has weather effects, as clouds produce them meaning some areas can “clear up”. Also, the rain Makes sounds on your canopy!

You can use rear facing machine guns on some tanks. Check out the SMK, and for maximum wtf, the KV2 ZiS-6. Now that's a challenge to use/get a kill with.
You can also crush some vehicles, mainly those with hull break I think.
Did the smoke shell with my churchill 1 using the hull gun. Panzerjager 1 through himself off a cliff in front of me and I shot three smoke shells into him, third killed all his crew in one go. Nice addition.
Fun fact: If you use the T-III in sim, there is a 75% that you will be teamkilled
I usually just put a big bush on top of my T-III and tell my teammates to watch out for it. Doesn't work all the time, but it's better.
skDoger i suppose that would work. I am definitely guilty of obliterating my fair share of them. And one Puma who’s turret I mistook for a T-34 somehow
