  • Finely got out to the shop to do some work on the 2011 Colorado LS swap project. I was running new fuel lines from the tank to the engine and decided to show you guys how to remove these quick connect fuel line fittings.
    Thanks for watching!

    I'm glad to see this video and his replies to those saying "just push the two tabs". Unless your fingers are really tough (not flexible tissue on your finger tips) *and* skinny I don't see how people make it look so easy to squeeze the tabs (like they do in many videos). Another video shows putting a small nut on each end of skinny needle nose pliers for the squeezing.

      You are so right. Those little tabs can be so hard to push in. Especially when you live in Canada, where you get a lot of snow and dirt up underneath your car. It can be almost impossible to push those little tabs in. This is a much easier way using this tool. Thanks for watching!

      @@budslifeI broke the internal plastic tab by squeezing with the needle nose pliers so the connector is not very secure in staying connected ... big problem. Can I pry off the nylon tubing after *carefully* applying heat gun to get thequick connect off? I see videos having to use a clamping method just to push the connector onto the nylon tube so I'm afraid pulling off is an even bigger hassle...i might have to replace the whole line.

    Do you have any videos/tips on how to change the whole fitting to the plastic/abs fuel line. Typically found on Fords?

    Do you have a link to the tool? I've taken it apart without the tool one time. One too many. Dirt builds up in there and I needed to work it with a pick.

      I will try and find a link to the tool. But I got this one at Canadian Tire.

    How do you get them off if you don't have the tool?

      There's two tabs on the end of these types of fittings that you can squeeze together. Sometimes this will work and they will pop right off but I have seen a lot of times where these tabs will not move they're seized in there so I usually just use the tool and it makes it a lot easier.

      They usually just snap back together if you didn't destroy the fitting taking it apart.

      Sorry i meant the fuel line , ive got this set up on my van and the fuel line no way would let 1 out and back in. I could cut one out the line but id not get 1 back in.

      They usually snap back in if they don't. That usually means you've damaged a little clip inside the fitting, and you'll need to replace the whole fitting. That can be tricky, but it can be done. I'm pretty sure there are videos on youtube on how to replace these plastic fittings.

    Wow. So I’ve been doing it wrong the whole time😂😂😂

    • @budslife
      @budslife  9 місяців тому

      No I never said anybody was doing it wrong. It's just up here in Canada, where we get lots of snow and salt on our roads, these little clips on these fittings tend to break, and no matter how hard you squeeze them, they will not come apart. This video just simply shows another way to do it, that's all.
