They removed it though! They took it out for the directors cut and it looks they have here too. I don’t understand why they have done so, it’s such an iconic line!

Ah, this takes me back to much simpler and happier times. I first played this as a kid and loved every minute of it. I had asked for it as a Christmas present in 1996. Spent as much time as possible playing it over that holiday.....
I just now realized it's Christmas day 2023, it's exactly 27 years ago since I first played this game......Time goes so fast. 😢

The resolution is nice but... the animations just emm : I. It looks too stiff. I think for 90s one it worked fine and looks gorgeous in this day and age. But seeing George just stand there still just makes it so awkward now. Whereas in the 90s it was a technical reason for it and it worked for the time. I do hope they polish it so it can be as great of an experience for new players as it was for me playing this back then. But i am however glad they make games again!
I don't know if this happens to you, but in my mind, I remember old games as if they were in HD, and suddenly when I see them on UA-cam, I realize they are much more pixelated than I remembered. Well, this 'reforged' is just how I remembered Broken Sword. So im gonna buy it.

Happened to me big time when replaying The Curse of Monkey Island. Oddly enough, technology advancing contributes to it - if you played these games when they came out it was almost certainly on a CRT monitor, which happened to make the pixels fuzzy so they'd blend in with each other a little. Meanwhile digital displays are so crisp you can see the jagged edge of the pixels in those lower resolutions. Great to see these games back looking how we remember them :)
@@JPH1138 Oh! I hadn't even considered the monitor thing, but it makes a lot of sense that it would influence how we remember the games! I also experienced that with The Curse of Monkey Island. ^^
I grow up with that game, I played both pc version and Playstation one, amazing memories!!!!
I'm playing the original for the very first time right now (non directors cut, most folks seem to think it's better). Brand new to the series. Looks like good timing for me to discover it!
Original version is defs the way to go for your first playthrough! Cannot wait for this remaster to drop I will be buying this on day 1 when it drops!

These are the graphics that really should be used in all BS games. They are so beautiful and nostalgic.

I do miss the charming hand drawn characters in the later Broken Sword games. Early 2024 seems so far away. I'm so excited to revisit BS in Reforged, love the cleaned up audio!

I understand lots of people didn't like the director's cut but I actually did. I like the Nico fill ins. I truly did. That's me though 😊
Looks great and thank god you are not using the horrible dialogue for George that was in the Director's cut version because the original line was so poignant and powerful.
This blows the remaster out of the water. Bravo, really. Vast improvement vs the floating heads in the remaster. Please make more BS games in this exact style! This is all the fans really want!

Oh ah yeah. She looks clean. Lovely new shadows and juts all round looks like 5, which is part of the best. Can't wait to be able to play this on the go again.

The first adventure game that got me hooked on the genre and I played properly! I recall playing the demo over and over again, it was quite difficult to get the game here in Wales for some reason I cannot recall, could get BS2, then for christmas, my brother got me a help charity collection of games which had Myst, Road Rash and of course, BS1!
Had the exact same box of games, Road Rash seemed so out of place but MYST and Broken sword remain two of my favourite games of all time!
I'm so excited for this re-release, I absolutely adore this game and is one of my fave games of all time. I've been wanting it on the consoles for long and never thought it would be re-released and then we have this and a new one coming too!!
It's absolutely awesome!! I hope the rest of the games follow then the only one I really want is Discworld II Missing Presumed which is a fantastic game too and truly underrated!!

Yes! This was the promise of the evolution of the point-and-click genre in it’s hay day but instead everyone went down the FMV or 3D route (both of wich looked and played like crap back then). This is what should have happened to the genre. And the Broken Sword series is one of the greats ❤
One mistake Cecil might want to fix is Plantard's eyes being closed will make the line "I tried not to meet the dead man's stare as I searched his pockets" nonsensical

They’ve still removed most of the iconic first line though :/ they took it out for the directors cut and it looks like they’ve removed it here too. I know it’s just a sentence, but that was my biggest issue with the directors cut 😂

Why remove the rest of it??? It’s iconic! I was eight or nine when I first played it and I have never forgot that line. It’s a mistake to remove it!
I thought so with the directors cut and I think so now.
For those who played the original, the rest of that line being missing sounds jarring and strange because we are expecting something that we fondly remember and when it doesn’t come, I dunno, I can’t explain it but it makes me, at least, feel weird.
You clearly have no idea how important, memorable and again I say, iconic, those words are to the fans that played this when it was released. Please put it back in!

This game is the only reason I play adventure games. And though I don't play p&c games very often, especially those Telltale game, I am always on the lookout for a new Broken Sword.

Oh and also “I considered climbing the lamp post, but it wasn’t going to shed any light on the affair”, which was removed from the Director’s cut.
