  • This is an easy rod holder that I made for the back of my truck. The measurements I used are for my vehicle and my taste. You should measure your truck bed and formulate your own measurements to ensure it fits your vehicle. Enjoy!

Apply primer and glue to both mating surfaces and you get a little longer open time.

Great idea!!!...if you don't have a bed cover.....Oh well, I'd be too paranoid of a rod falling out anyways. Keep up the good work man! It's almost fishing tackle season and soon after it will be fishing season.

Marcus Young I originally made this about 5 years ago while living in Florida. I was in to saltwater fishing and I always took 10 rods with me. My boat held 4, the truck held 6. I wanted a way to transport all 10 rods safely so none of them were sliding around in the back of my truck. I have never had one bounce out of the holder. It is safer than you think.

Great job and info as you did it. Nice. I wish I could do that with my truck but my trucks little diffrent than most. Lol. I've done vidoe last summer but it's totely diffrent now so time for a new video. Lol. But if I ever empty my truck I'll make that one or something close. When I fish I usely take so much I wish I had a bus lol. And used to now rv but got a small one don't like it need bigger need more room. With my group when I go I need more so I'm working on that this year and into next as stuff gets sold. But thanks for sharing and info. God bless

Should have put some plastic or cardboard down to protect your cement from staining.

Do you find that 8 inch rod holders are long enough? I would think that you would want your reels seated on the pipe and 8 inches may not be long enough for some rods. Also, I used 2 inch schedule 40 pipe and they are a perfect fit for all rods including heavy conventional bottom fishing rods.

Thank you for your question Nathan. I haven't had a problem. I used to use longer PVC but it would scratch my reels.

@@MongoFishing That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying before I glue it together. Awesome tutorial as well. I was surprised to see that buying these off the shelf were so expensive.

What size diameter did you use, 2" pvc? Thank you.

1 1/4" schedule 40 PVC. It probably doesn't need to be schedule 40 but that is what I used.

I don't remember but it wasn't much. PVC is pretty cheap.
